Can't find any step by step info about moving web site from one server to another. I have to move website from open BSD to CentOS. Maybe somebody can help me with this. All I did is : copied www directory to new server, installed apache, installed php, installed mysql, copied mysql datadase to new server.But website still not loading.

The Virtualbox (not for the VM) network preferences have DHCP Server disabled and IPV address and the network mask I believe are valid for my home network. My VM is up and running and it has gotten an IP address from my home router and everything seems fine. From any machine in my house I can ssh into my centos installation. I went ahead and started up the httpd service and the website is up. IOW, I can see it from my centos box - when I navigate to http://localhost However, I cannot see it from any other machine on the net. The IP address of the centos bos is 192.168.0.141. From the centos I can do a ttp://192.168.0.141 and see the Apache 2 test Page. I can see that from anywhere else. Although I can ssh to that machine.

I have 4 centos5 apache webservers all on the same network, recently, 2 of the webservers have stopped being able to ping or browse one particular website where feeds are obtained from this site. I have checked and firewall and selinux settings are disabled. The two webservers are able to ping and browse other sites. Dns settings are the same for all 4 servers. traceroute for working and not working webservers are the same.

I can log in anon with no write permissions, but it will not log in using any users I have setup on the server. Presently it's at the default location on /var/spool/mqueue/ but when / recently ran out of space (my fault storing backups there), it was unable to receive any more mail. There is plenty of space at another partition. My /var/opt/scalix location lives on another set of discs with lots of room. I created a folder called /var/opt/scalix/sendmail/mailqueue/ but uncertain how to move the existing queue to it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed mysql and need to move the databases to a new location.I say 'no problem' I shutdown mysql (service mysqld stop) I configure my.cnf to point to the new location, which in my case is: /mnt/data/mysql. I know not very original naming. I do the old chown -R mysql:mysql /mnt/datal/mysql AND I copy all the files over (cp -R /var/lib/mysql /mnt/cgsvol/mysql) chmod 777 /mnt/data/mysql I ensure the chown worked (ls -a -l) and the files are there from the old directory. I can't load the daemon again. I check the log (/var/log/mysqld.log) and it can't write any test file to that directory.

The website I am trying to get working is hosted on CentOS. The version is 2.6.18-194.11.1.el5PAE. Im trying to get migrate the site from one server to another and now the cgi script doesnt execute correctly as it requires the class Template which is in a folder within the website tree.

The last week, I have been getting a "page Load Error" on my web server whilst others told me they are getting a "broken link" error when they try to access my web site. It has been working fine for the last 12 months until last week.
ADSL, modem and router okay according to service provider (verizon)
I can ping my IP address and my domain name.
# netstat -tap
shows http and https both processes running.
# service httpd restart
no issues
I shut down firewall and tried again, but got the same "page load error".
I am new here and want to lern CentOS. Current I have installed CentOS 5.5 x64 and Perl 5.8.8. Now i have install Perl 5.12.1 which located to /usr/local/bin/perl. But how I can move it to /usr/bin/perl so root based on Perl 5.12.1?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIm running drupal on my webserver and, this morning all of the sudden I went to edit a node and now I cant load the website in my browser at all. I can ping the machine and SSH into it fine, but it will not load the website in chrome or IE, I have no idea whats going on here.
Edit: I did a 'service httpd restart', it took 3mins to restart, is this normal? After I did that it loaded once, not even all of the page, now its doing the same thing again.
Edit2: Now it seems to be working fine again...
I've got a Joomla website made for me. It is hosted with a hosting company. Here and there i change some of its content, but i want to practice it locally on my computer before i do bigger things on the web, so that if things get into a serious problem it is close at hand to fix it up. I've installed apache2 php5-mysql libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server on my Ubuntu 10.04 desktop. also, I've installed Joomla up and running.

I am trying to install a router on my CentOS 5 box, while i have properly configured IP address, Subnet, Default GW and DNS, I am at the point of trying to set up the Proxy. I have added a line: "proxy=http:ip_address:8080/" to the file of "/etc/yum.conf" The Proxy server here does not require any username nor password however I still cannot ping any website, while I tried to ping 74.125.45.100 (google.com) it returns the following message:

I am able to start the machine from the internet (power plug board with webinterface) but I don't know how to shutdown the server automatically if nobody uses the website anymore. It is a homeserver which should only run if needed.
Unfortunately I don't know much about Linux, apache, php, cgi-scripts, cronjobs and other things that might be useful. But I googled a lot and have now an idea how it could work. It seems complicated to me and so I want to ask you guys what you think about it and if perhaps you could give me a hint.
The idea: A cronjob starts every ten minutes a php script that checks when the index.html of the welcome-page was opened the last time (fileatime()). Lets say it was opened last time at 3pm. Then the php script adds for example 60 minutes to that time (=4pm) and calculates how much time is left to 4pm. This time is saved in the variable $timeleft. Now the php script compares if $timeleft is less then 10 minutes (=600 seconds). If it is, the php script starts a cgi script that will shutdown the server. The cgi script will login as root (I think that can be done with the "expect"-command url and then enter the command "shutdown -h now"
Is all this realizable? Isn't there a better and/or easier way to do?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was having a problem on my squid server whereby 1 website would timeout daily and return a nscd not found error: [url]....There may be other sites but this is the only one I know of. A selection of other sites still work correctly, which is the strange thing.I have found that by restarting the dns cache everything works again: /etc/init.d/nscd restart.I never know quite when this will timeout so it is not very good for people accessing that site on the server.
