I have Centos 5.3 installed on my pc. I have mysql, PHP and apache server running on my computer too.Is there any way I can test my website on my pc without running any stack ( lampp )?
View 10 RepliesI mistakenly ran 'iptables restart' on a server that was not set to run iptables. Immediately, the server quit making outgoing connections on port 80. It has problems completing a traceroute when another machine on the same VM Host can do everything just fine. One of our best networking technicians diagnosed it as issues with the TCP/IP stack on the OS.
I know that iptables is off, allowing all trafffic incoming/outgoing.
Can anyone tell me that how to get information about stack, allocated by kernel to a running process? for this ,is there any api function,any system call is available in ubuntu 8.04 ?

i opened up my browser to surf the web and a page popped up i had never seen before.Apache 2 Test page powered by centos. View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run though the qmailrocks setup on a centos 5.5 and I am running into an issue when trying to telnet to port 25:

Everything else seems to be working (telnet to 110), and I turned off the firewall entirely, but I still cannot telnet to port 25. I also get a blank error within squirrelmail when attempting to send mail out (ERROR:Message not sent. Server replied: ). I apologize for not going directly to the qmailrocks forum, but they are currently closed down (due to lack of funds). I also am a newbie, so I apologize for the lack of needed information. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know what information you would need.
The disk I obtained from a seller runs fine in live mode (no installation) on my Windows XP. I liked what I saw. However, when trying to run cd live on my Linux PC it won't run. Linux pc currently has Kubundu 9.1 installed. Previous to that I had Mint 8 installed, but again Fedora 12 cd would not run. After getting an initial Fedora startup screen, I next receive a bunch of text, ending with a text screen of about 30 lines with "OK" in green to right of each line. At bottom is blinking cursor. That ends my machine's live running of cd.
Obviously, if I can not get cd to run live on linux pc, I'm not going to be able to install. (I should add that ubuntu, kubuntu, mint 8 and pclinuxos all ran successfully live on machine and three of them were installed successfully.) Perhaps, Fedora is at war with Ubuntu et al.

I ran the test suite very often with all sorts of settings, but recently it happened once that my Ubuntu system froze. I could still ping the machine, but nothing else was responding any more, no screen output, no ssh login, not possible to switch consoles. After rebooting the system the system logs were quiet. No single trace of any problem.

A similar issue happened in March 2010 on one of our CentOS 5.4 systems where we run a heavy load Java application on, where we had to hard power off the machine and after the reboot there was no trace of the problem in the logs. On that server we used JDK 1.6.0_17 and did not use hugetlbfs.
My first question would be what to do so that next time something like that happens I have more information available after the incident to debug and analyse the problem?

The way we run the website is using port 8080, e.g. [URL] I am sure I am missing something here, first, I am still looking on where does the port 8080 comes from since I've checked the httpd.config and it wasn't there.
I just tried to install virtual box by downloading the RPM from their website running it with yast. It said install succesful but I checked the install log and this is the result that I got. The program will not start. I want to run opensuse as my host and install Windows XP to run on top of it for my wife.

I did try to run sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup it failed I than ran vim /var/log/vbox-install.log and this information was in the file /usr/share/virtualbox/src/vboxhost/vboxdrv/build_in_tmp: line 55: make: command not found
am currently using Windows 7 across my networked PCs at home.
I've just received my new Samsung N250 Plus Netbook which comes with Windows 7 Starter (yuk). I read a post on Ebuyer from someone who has installed ubuntu on his N250 so thought I'd give it a go tonight.
My main concern is whether my wi-fi card (Broadcom 802.11n according to windows) will work when I remove windows and install ubuntu. I intend to use the netbook for internet use only while working abroad.
Is it possible to test it works by running ubuntu from my USB stick first (without removing windows 7)?
We've been having lots of problems with burning CD-Rs on our Dell PowerEdge and T300 servers. We've had the CD recorders replaced frequently, and that often fixes the problem, but then we'll start having problems again. Usually it is the CD refuses to write, or it gets written but can't be read. Often, if I re-run the burn with the same blank CD, it will be fine.
I'd like to test some CD-Rs and compare error rates so I can recommend what CD-R media we should be using. Currently we are using Memorex and Verbatim CD-Rs. Is there a good cd recording/testing suite for Linux that I could use to do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been battling an issue for a couple of days and I have it down to 2 possibilities. Memory or mobo. A server in the DC is being very sketchy. Sometimes it will boot fine, sometimes it will boot but will not show all the memory, and sometimes it will hang before it even posts. I have replaced just about everything inside the system except for the memory and the mobo.
I would like to test the memory before replacing either because both are a few hundred dollars. The problem is, the memory doesn't log any errors and running a memory test with ubcd doesn't work because it's ecc memory. I thought I remembered hearing that there is a way to run a memory test during a Centos or RHEL installation, but I can't figure out how.
