I've got two USB webcams I'm trying to get running with CentOS 5.4 x86_64. I've downloaded and installed the gspca driver from http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html. Running lsusb yields:

My problem is that I'm trying to install CentOS 5.4 x86_64 DVD ISO on Supermicro X7SBI server with installed Adaptec RAID 3405 controller.
I created RAID 5 array and is working fine (adaptec status says Optimal) but I can't install CentOS to that array (1.5TB size).
Whenever I try to install with: linux dd
I'm asked for a driver, which I have downloaded from Adaptec site and extracted contents to USB drive (in installation found as /sba1) which has now a lot of IMG and some ISO files on it.
I try to load (I simplified names) RHEL5.img, CENTOS.img... with x64 names (one exact name: aacraid driverdisk-CentOS-x86_64.img) and I always get the error message: "No devices of the appropriate type were found on this driver disk"
This is going on for a week now and I can't find the right driver or something I'm doing wrong to get install done.

As a test, I downloaded the first of 7 iso files for the 32-bit version of Centos 5.5 and pointed the CD/DVD drive to that iso. In that case, the installation starts as expected. I would really like to get the 64-bit version installed and running.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a Digi Edgeport/8 working under x86_64 CentOS 5.3. This is a USB to serial conversion box that takes a single USB port and breaks it out into 8 DB-9 serial ports. We're running the 2.6.18-128.el5 x86_64.
This box has worked fine on many systems for us from RedHat 7.3 to Fedora Core 5 from everything back to the 2.4.20 kernel up to 2.6.16.16. On the CentOS box, in /boot/config-2.6.18-125.elf, the following is set:
CONFIG_USB_SERIAL_EDGEPORT=m
CONFIG_USB_SERIAL_EDGEPORT_TI=m
Which is all we've ever had to do in the past and plugging the box in to the system, it will auto-configure.

I am brand new to this forum! I have spent some time on other Linux forums but based on my usage of CentOS I figured that it would be best to come straight to the pros. I've been using CentOS for a while now, mostly as a web server. Actually I use it as the base and installed Parallels Plesk Control Panel.
Anyway I want to setup a VPN and so far I haven't found any real solid documentation on how to do that! Yes I could install DAG/RPM Forge but what I really want to know how to do it from scratch. What I mean by scratch is that I want to download the tar.gz package from openvpn.net and then build it as required. I don't know much about building or compiling a package so that is why I have come here for help! I am guessing that I need to compile openVPN with openSSL and probably a few other packages... I could use openSWAN but I don't want to.
In the system-config-display the system sees the video card but when you look in the Configuration tab it is running on the vesa - generic driver.I downloaded the latest driver from ATI for x86_64 Linux and after I ran it there was an error that it could not find X-server:

View 4 Replies View RelatedI add one serical card which is extended to 4 serial ports to my host, but in centos 5.4, only 3 (In my machine, is ttyS1, ttyS2 and ttyS3,ttyS0 is another serial port) of my host can be used, and /dev/ttyS4 doesn't work.

I can't get wake up on lan (wol) to work on my network card.The strange thing is that before I had it working with the exact same hardware. But I was on Centos 5.4 then. Now I am on Centos 5.5.Am I correct in concluding that the sky2 driver does not support wake up on lan?

I am concentrating on a 3Com 3CCE589EC card which seems to be on the supported list. It works fine under Windows 2000 on the same computer so I believe the hardware is OK. When I insert it the following messages are shown in /var/log/messages:

My computer have ATI X600 graphics card installed, and I installed CentOS5.3.
Every time I suspend my computer and then resume it, it seem the graphics card can't resume and the monitor says 'no signal', but the system still responses, I can use keyboard.
Is there any configuration I can't do to make it resume normally? I've searched a lot in Google but can't find out any one else run into the same problem.

I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. What can I do?

It always worked fine in Ubuntu by default (plug and play). Is there some setting I need to make to get this working?Even BT-3 (which is quite old) recognizes the RT-73.

For non root users, I am not seeing any error messages when a app tries to use/access the sound card, just nothing plays. As I said, for root everything works as expected. I installed CentOS 5.3 on my Shuttle SS-31T with SiS 190 network adapter. While booting the message "Bringing up eth 0 [ OK ]" appears. After booting it isn't possible to surf to an internet location (p.a. www.google.com). It's also impossible to ping other machines in the network. After typing ifconfig everything seems to be ok.
ipv6 is turned off
IP : 192.168.0.3
Subnet : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.1
I have a Centos 5 server on my LAN for testing the websites that i develop.It worked perfectly until this morning , after cold start -up, it seems that my network card is not enabled . Everything works normal:gui and terminal but no internet access. I'll run some commands on my Linux box and write the results , by hand , to this forum .

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust finished downloading the CentOS5.5 x86_64 DVD images (2 ISO's), and realize that I have almost run out of DVD-R's. First ISO is a perfect fit for the 4.7GB DVD, the second only is ~400MB. Wondering if there may be any issue if I burn the second one to a CD (which I have plenty). I guess it should be okay, but wanted to double-check.

I do not see any 32 bit packages in the /tmp/transitRPMS directory, which good, and that is is what I expected / want.I have also downloaded the repodata and images directory from one of the CENTOS mirros, from the 5.6 directory.I am using the netinstall CD to kickstart the VM and using my local HTTP repository , which I created using the RPMs pulled from the yumuploader command.When I try to install the VM, after the disks are formatted, the installer starts asking for missing i386 or i686 packages. This is happening in both interactive installs, where I select absolutely no package; and also in the kickstart installs, where I have specified @core for the packages. I am unable to understand this behaviour. It was not so in CENTOS 5.5 x86_64 bit. I do not want to install 32 bit packages on my 64 bit machine.
I have a Centos 5.2 VM running under Windows 2008 Hyper-V. If I add two "legacy Nic's" and bridge them, everything appears to work fine. However, if I remove the legacy nics and replace them with two synthetic nics (linux integration components), the nics seems to function fine UNTIL I add them to a bridge.This VM will eventually be used as a DansGuardian/Squid transparent proxy for a local library. The logical layout is represented by the attached jpg image. I have also included the ifcfg- scripts for the adapters and bridge for both scenarios.It would also be useful if someone else has Hyper-V with the integration components and dual physical nics to see if they can reproduce my symptoms on their box.Legacy Adapters:
