I have problems enabling bluetooth on my Dell Vostro 1400. CentOS is 5.5 with latest Kernel from base repository. Kernel recognizes bluetooth module but Gnome tray icon has no options except "Discoverable" which can not even be unticked.
Bluetooth chipset is Broadcom BCM 2046 B1. Maybe anyone came over this problem?
Decided to upgrade my usb bluetooth dongle because it is slow, old and bulky. Bought a Konig (broadcom) mini dongle. Ubuntu (natty) shows me a bluetooth icon and appears to be working. But: It doesn't find anything, nor can it be found...

When i connect to my laptop a bluetooth usb stick, the bluetooth could not be turned on.
the bluetooth dameon is on, and when i press the turn on button, nothing happens.
in windows the stick works fine.
today I installed Opensuse 11.3 on my new laptop, a Samsung R540. Initially I got my Logitech bluetooth mouse working because I hate the touch pad, then I got the wireless network working by upgrading the kernel with the broadcom-wl package at which point the Logitech bluetooth mouse stopped working. I am able to detect the mouse when I go to add new devices using the gnome-bluetooth applet but it times out when it tries to connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get my bluetooth adapter to work in RHEL. The adapter is a Kensington Micro (K33902US). The system detects the device, but it fails to find any networks when I do a scan using hcitool. Also, I wrote a small C program to do the same, with the same results (no network found). The bluetooth manager appears in the panel, but when I right-click, the only option I have is to check/uncheck "Discoverable". I have tried restarting bluetooth using "service bluetooth restart" to no avail.I tried borrowing an adapter from a friend (some DLINK) that seemed to work fine for both hcitool and my program. The problem just seems to be in Red Hat's ability to use this particular device.

I'm trying to get my Broadcom 4312 working again since FC10. I noticed that RPMFusion isn't listed. This would answer why I can not install Broadcom -wl.
my wireless is not working on my lenovo. The problem is when i got to network manager and try to select enable wireless once i select it, it unselect it self after a second. i tried everythink i fond on the net already and also tried with support in irc channel but still nothing.

I have installed b43 with the install script and I can see all wireless networks fine, but NetworkManager just keeps asking me for the WPA passphrase, despite it being correct. I tried disabling WPA on the router, but then the connection hangs at "Configuring interface" instad. I also tried with ifup, but I'm not sure I configured everything correctly. I don't get any smarter from the NetworkManager logs, maybe someone else can decipher them? tail -50 when connection doesn't work:

I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
I used the System -> Administration -> Hardware Driver and found 2 drivers. I have tried them both to connect to my D-Link Router. Neither of which worked.
For Broadcom B43 Driver, the wireless is able to detect wireless networks. However, it fails to establish connection.
For Broadcom STA Driver, the wireless cannot even detect wireless networks available.
What is the issue here and how do I resolve it so that I am able to connect onto the internet wirelessly?
I'm having a bit of trouble getting the wireless to work on a Dell Inspiron 9200. Following the instructions here didn't help, though I didn't get any errors along the way. Scanning for networks produced 'No scan results,' though. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1.

I have a broadcom 4322 and haven't successfully got it working yet. the hard drive failed in this laptop and i took it out. i am using a bootable flash drive with ubuntu on it installed. not the live edition. i am trying to find out if somehow since the hard drive is not in the laptop, if that could have anything to do with runnin off the usb flash drive it boots? i have a wired connection using the 8gb flash drive. since there are drivers for usb wifi devices which i know are different, is it possible that the wifi card is looking somewhere else instead of the usb port?

I am running kde ubuntu 10 on a gateway laptop with a Broadcom bcm series wireless network card. network manager 7.0 is installed. the broadcom STA wireless driver is also installed. Network manager sees the network and I can select the network and it shows as active yet I have no connection. The wired connection works fine.

I install openSUSE 11.1 and now the bluetooth icon that should show up in the system tray no longer shows up. If I hit Ctrl + Esc I can see kbluetooth4 in "System Activity". All that's changed is I did a fresh install (I don't do upgrades) of openSUSE 11.1 with the same KDE I was running in 11.0. I would like to know what's broke even if I can't fix it. I hate not knowing why something isn't doing what it's suppose to be doing.

But when I start blueman-applet the icon on the toolbar is like white with a red 'x' in the centre of it, which doesn't seem right. I'm using fluxbox as my WM so don't know if that's the reason, but blueman isn't responding when I try to setup the device with gui (blueman-applet). My groups for my user are.

I just installed latest stable Debian (KDE) on my laptop, Dell Vostro 3400, which uses Broadcom 4313 (I think) wireless controller. I did install the proprietary driver package from Debian called breadcom-sta-common<version no>.deb. I remember it's the same driver I used for my previous Ubuntu installation. I also installed the KDE Network ManagerFront-End and the wireless tab on the manager is disabled (greyed out). I finally tried the steps from Debian Wiki Wireless section and at the end, when I run "modprobe wl", it says "FATAL: Module wl not found". Is there some more steps I need to do?

I have bought a new Dell Studio XPS Desktop with Broadcom BCM57788 network card. The installation of the tg3 driver from Dell was done according to Documentation
But still, the network card is not there. When I call ifconfig, there is only "lo" and no "eth". In Yast it says that the Netlink BCM57788 card cannot be configured because the firmware is missing. I also already did modprobe tg3 and rmmod tg3.
BTW, I have installed OpenSuse 11.2 x32 which is Linux 2.6.31.5.
I'm trying to help a friend with his Acer Aspire 5003 WLMi computer, and if you guys can't help me get this to work, I have to resort to reinstalling Windows XP on his computer.
I've tried with f34cutter and the Windows driver with ndiswrapper, and both ways should work (many others seems to have got it working), but I haven't.
I can't keep up with this much longer (he wants to have his laptop back someday), and I will post the relevant info as soon as you need it.
Recently I moved from Intrepid Ibex to Lucid Lynx and everything went fine during and post installation except wireless B4311. I tried to install the specific driver from System-> Administration-> Hardware Drivers but it comes out with an error logged in file jockey.log
