CentOS 5 :: Enabling XML-RPC Module On CentOS Dedicated Server Box
Jun 25, 2009
I would like to enable XML-RPC module on my dedicated server with CentOs 2.2-3.2.el5 hosted on 1and1 server. How do I enable this module? What are the procedures?
I am trying to connect to my VNC Server from a Windows 7 Box running TightVNC:I've followed all the instructions on this page:[URL]And I changed my xstartup scripts:
/etc/sysconfig/vncservers # The VNCSERVERS variable is a list of display:user pairs. #
I have some problem installing ASM Software (LANDesk) a BMC module on server ACER ALTOS G330MK2 with centos 5.3 totally updated. Could someone help me to understand wich is the problem ?
INFO:Installation is being performed on the RedHat Linux distribution.

I have a C application in which I was happily using stdint.h and other useful things like UINT32_MAX. Now, I am trying to move over to C++. Turns out, C++ does not support C99 and there is no equivalent header file (like climits for limits.h). So is there a way to enable C99 types in C++? Or any other equivalent header files?
I am trying to get VNC to work with display 0 on CentOS 5.2.In the past, I had always used the information straight from realvnc,URL... which is straighforward and simple, but this doesn't seem to work with CentOS 5. Once I attempt to connect to the server, it locks up.I have searched around and found the following info for CentOS 5, but I can't get it to work. The info seems very unclear and cumbersome to get display 0 configured.Has anyone gotten the RealVNC method to work on CentOS 5?
When i try to enable desktop effects on my dell inspiron 1440 running on CentOS 5.4 x86_64, this message is displayed:-'Desktop effects do not work with Xinerama'
I'm trying to create new RAM image file to get my server load raid1 module upon start, I was following redhat documentation & it suggested to use the following command mkinited --with=raid1 inited-raid1-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r) However after running this command I'm getting this message No Kernel available for 'inited-2.6.18-128.el5"
I'm running Centos 2.6.18-53.1.13.el5 in a VM. Currently I'm studying for my RHCT.I'm trying to enable IP forwarding so I edited this line in the /etc/sysctl.conf:
# Controls IP packet forwarding net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 Then I ran sysctl -p
I ran into this today accidentally turned on networkmanager and it took it upon itself to rewrite some things and proceeded to make any DNS lookups on my server Especially those reverse DNS for SSH and SFTP take so long they would just time out instead of completing.. Disabling networkmanager did not undo the damage either. Short fix, Erase your resolv.conf file and add 2 lines to it as so, your nameservers!
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx nameserver yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy save, and run the following commands service network restart service httpd restart service sshd restart
Mine had a search line added by networkmanager and some others, when i reverted it back to as above, almost instantly after restarting the services the systems lookups were once again, lightning fast. DNS lookups were taking upwards of 20 seconds for unknown reasons after this happenned
Is there a startup option I can put in the /etc/init.d/mysqld script or an option in the /etc/my.cnf file to enable the Archive engine for MySQL or do I have to compile it from the source?
I have a problem with compiling of mod_ruby-1.3.0 After a succesfull configure i get a error in the make, it say "make: *** [apachelib.o] error 1" . Here below you can find the results of de configuring and the make.I was following the roles in Howtoforge " The perfect server - Centos 5.3" everything goes perfect till mod_ruby-1.3.0
./configure.rb --with-apr-includes=/usr/include/apr-1 checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether we are using gcc... yes
I have installed tvtime in CentOS 5.5. I'm using a phillips tvtuner card saa7134. But when I modprobe saa7134, it says Module saa7134 not found. [root@unknown0019d1b5e07a Desktop]# modprobe saa7134 FATAL: Module saa7134 not found. [root@unknown0019d1b5e07a Desktop]#lspci | grep -i 'saa' 02:02.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7130 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev 01)
I have installed CENTOS 5.3 on my machine and am running the new version of Subversion which comes bundled with Apache. I noticed in the httpd.conf file there is no module for PHP which is a problem. How do I install the PHP module for APACHE in Centos 5.3?
I am having this problem everytime I execute the yum command: There was a problem importing one of the Python modules required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was: No module named cElementTree
Please install a package which provides this module, or verify that the module is installed correctly. It's possible that the above module doesn't match the current version of Python, which is: 2.4.3 (#1, Sep 3 2009, 15:37:12) [GCC 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-46)]
I built a home server (NAS/WWW/SSH/media server etc) and chose CentOS 5 as the OS (stability, easy of configuration).I was just about to start tuning the power consumption when I realised that the kernel CentOS uses is so "old" that it does not support the latest reduced power consumption enhancements that Linux has achieved in big strides in the recent past (we are probably still talking 6-12+ months ago e.g. tickless kernel)..
So my questions; 1) I know CentOS was maybe not meant for home servers (certainly its not its primary purpose), but if it is, any ideas of what kind of power consumption it takes (I know its relative) and if there are particular power consumptions that are worthwhile?
2) Do you recommend me compiling my own 2.6.21+ kernel from kernel.org or am I just likely to have compatibility issues (I really did not want to do that) or when is CentOS 5.4 supposed to have a newer 2.6.21+ version kernel?
Was it wrong of me in principle to choose CentOS for a home server when I am power conscious? (I don't have a low-power VIA processor either but a P4 so I am really just hoping to make do with software changes).
I have a few mail servers, a mail log server and a web server running on Centos 5. Now I have a task: to avoid accidental crashes on the production servers while installing updates, my boss asked me to do clones (these clones will all be VMware virtual machines) of the servers (EXCLUDING the actual e-mails and log contents) and then to run those clones on VMWare Server. This way, first I will install and test updates on the clones and - if they will be running without crashes - I will apply the updates on the real production servers themselves.
I have already installed VMWare Server 2.0 I have a few questions: How do I build the virtual machines to exclude the actual mail files and mail logs? Can I use VMware Converter for this purpose, or do I have to use another program? How do I actually do this cloning? Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
If I ssh from my laptop (running F10) to the server (centos 5.2) it asks for the password, but everytime I enter the correct password it says incorrect password. when I do the same from the server to my laptop I can get in just fine. I think my passwords are stored as ssha in the LDAP (I tried clear passwords and that dosen't work either).
I have tried to install debian 5.0 and 4.0 without any luck. I have both tried virt-manager and virt-install with both debian-501-i386-netinst.iso, and full dvd. I't always gives me the same error:Starting install.Could not find an installable distribution at '/xen/debian-501-i386-netinst.iso'
