OpenSUSE :: K3b - Burn A M3u Playlist Generated From Banshee - No Permission

I have been receiving K3b burning problems for the last two weeks. When I burn a m3u playlist generated from Banshee I receive an error about not having permission, but I believe I've enabled all the permissions I know how. Just now I attempted to burn a downloaded ISO and received an error even though I think the filesystem may have built correctly:
Code: cdrecord returned an unknown error (code 254). Sometimes using TAO writing mode solves this issue.

I have a playlist of 634 tracks that I export to a file. I then try to import that same file and only 627 tracks get imported into the created playlist. The 7 tracks that are missing are:

I can arrange my general "music" playlist by play count (by clicking the play count button at the top, my list automatically arranges in ascending or descending order according to play count), but I can't seem to do the same in my user-generated playlist. Is there any way to do this?
A severe problem with Rhythmbox. You cannot burn playlist. I've looked at bug reports and they just give you the run around. Nothing in the forums except to go to something else. That is no solution to the problem. I can't believe this problem is being ignored. Nothing comes up on search.how these applications got so screwed up from one version to the other and what the cure is?
I just started having a problem tonight with Banshee. Whenever I click on some of my playlists, Banshee crashes. Can anyone tell me where I would find the error log for this so that I can fix it?
I write my courses with Latex and I used Kdvi to read them. Since there is Okular the rendreing is very bad and I have to use back xdvi which works perfectly but is less friendly. I have no problem with pdf files. Did somebody exprience the same thing? How is it possible to solve it? I forgot to say that the problem occurs with opensuse 11.2, 11.2 and I've updated to the last version of Okular
I configured SuSEfirewall2 with no open ports on a openSUSE 11.1 box.
When I list firewall rules (iptables -L -n) the first rules in the INPUT chain are

2nd and 3rd rules are ok, allowing outbound requests. But how about the first rule? To me it looks like it accepts anything incoming hands down. I can't believe it, do I read this right? In such case the first rule short-circuits all subsequent rules on this chain.
I wish to play a training video. When I click on the link I get a prompt to open with RealPlayer. Since I do not think I have RealPlayer installed I checked the link and it an .asx file. I guess it is a link for streaming the video. Whatever, which playing software should I install? I am aware of the multimedia tutorial on this site but am not clear on my objective as there are so many player options apparently available. It would help if I knew what I should be using to play these videos.
I am trying to install shrew software in OpenSuse 11.3. So , i do cmake ... and finished correctly , but when i do make i got the following error: uic: File generated with too old version of Qt Designer (3.3) I checked the repositories and i got the lowest version of qt available : qt3
I tried banshee under ubuntu netbook edition and was totally impressed with the program, so much so that I would love it on my SUSE laptop. Could somebody point a noob in the right direction?
I am using Banshee 1.6 (beta 2) 1.5.1. I'm actually interested in is getting the Amazon mp3 extension to work, and I don't see this extension in my current version of Banshee. I tried to upgrade & ended up wiping my whole hard drive & had to re-install 11.2 but I'm sure that was my inexperience more than anything else.
I'm not sure of the proper procedure to upgrade any particular package on 11.2 actually. I just leave them alone & it works great. I could add the Banshee repo (which I have not done) but even if I uninstall 1.6 which I have now, and then re-install the newer app from the repo, it will not work. It says it installs properly (I know this from yesterday) but the program doesn't show up in the menu.
I recently installed banshee from the gnome 3 site with the one click installer and everything went fine but clicking on an mp3 does nothing it wont play.
I'm using Opensuse 11.4 with Gnome 3 (magic!) and have installed Banshee which is always brilliant. However, though I'm pretty sure I've installed all the requisite codecs, I cannot get it to rip my CD's to MP3. The option is not in the drop down menu, only flac, ogg, wav, and wavpack are available. Usually there's the option to rip to MP3 to accompany those options. The odd thing is it's playing other MP3's I've already got just fine.
I'm going to boot up a desktop (that has a cd burner) from a USB stick of openSUSE 11.3. Will I be able to burn an iso (that's on the desktop's harddrive) to CD, i.e. can I use the cd burner, if I've booted from a USB stick?
I'm unable to burn CD-RW in K3b (error message "cdrecord has no permission to open the device"). Apparently, this is a wide-spread problem and there are a lot of posts on the internet that deal with it, but none of the advice I've found has worked so far.
I've tried the following:
(1) Updated K3b to the most recent version.
(2) Checked the device name of my CD burner (= sr0), and made sure I have access to it (sr0 is assigned to the group "drive", and I've added myself to this group, and also to "cdrom", just to be sure).
(3) Checked whether I have access to the applications /usr/bin/cdrecord, /usr/bin/wodim, and /usr/bin/cdrdao. Set the permissions to 775 (rwxrwxrx) and the ownership/group ownership to root/disk.
When I try to burn a data DVD with k3b it errors out telling me...
Unable to find the following files: /home/ion/.kde4/share/apps/RecentDocuments/Mon oncle d'Am+�rique (Resnais, 1980).srt.desktop
...but when I invoke (as root)...
# ls -al home/ion/.kde4/share/apps/RecentDocuments
...it retruns...
ls: cannot access home/ion/.kde4/share/apps/RecentDocuments: No such file or directory
So is k3b lying or ls?
Before you ask, fsck gave no errors. But Find files/Folders from the Application Launcher menu finds and lists it in the RecentDocuments directory as above, then tells me it is "Inaccessible". Delete does not work from GUI or CLI.
Downloaded the dvd ISO and am trying to burn the image but no matter what program I use the disc wont close. Any Ideas or advise. I got the program to work off of the ISO through Sun Virtualbox and like it but cant figure out how to install it to my pc
I can get music from cds into banshee, but when i try to import media from my library in the music folder nothing happens except banshee reports its scanning for a couple of seconds but nothing is imported into banshee,
I have an iPod Classic 6th Gen and am using Banshee for my music needs, however Banshee is not picking up my iPod. When I connect the iPod via my USB Cable, it is visible in the File Browser, and mounted to the Desktop. Banshee just isn't picking it up!
When I installed banshee 1.6.1 from the default repository it worked fine. But I wanted the newest version (1.8.0) for its new features and so I've tried both adding their (openSUSE 11.3) repository and doing it through yast and also installing it (for openSUSE 11.3) straight from their website with the "1-click install". Both of these methods did the exact same thing, just the latter added the repository for me (much simpler/lazier). Now, after installing banshee 1.8.0, it does not show up in the application launcher menu. So, I'm not sure how to open it and/or add it to the kickoff menu.
I want to install the latest version on my system, so I go to the Banshee download site, and do the install for SuSE 11.0. That brings up the Yast2 installer, which tries to do the install, but barfs with message something like "banshee-1-backend-engine-gtkstreamer-1-1.5.1-1.1.i586 required, uninstallable providers bansheexxxx [OpenSUSE_11.0],Conflict resolution: following actions will be done" with a long list of actions.So I click on "OK-Try Again", but it doesn't DO anything, just endlessly repeats the same message.Is there some way to bypass this, and get it to actually install?
I don't know, I couldn't get Banshee to work at all in 11.2... Something to do with Codecs, licensing, or related. I upgraded the system to 11.3 and then just dbl-clicked on a .wav and a .mp3 file. Big surprise - everything worked wonderfully, all with no further effort from me!
I'm using OpenSuse 11.4, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed consistent high CPU utilization with banshee? By high CPU use I mean, when the application is running (whether it's idle, playing music, or scanning) CPU use on my machine is almost consistently at 100% (one core pegged).
Scanning my music library took hours ... like 3-4 hours to scan 9500 songs, and banshee was the only application running on my machine.
Rhythymbox doesn't suffer the same fate, scanning the same library took 5 minutes and CPU busy is less than 2% when it's running or playing music.
I'm running banshee 1.9.3, and I'd rather use it vs Rhythmbox.
I recently installed OpenSuse 11.1 (i586) on a new laptop (HP 6710b) all has been going well, until I tried to burn audio CDs with K3B using .wav files in a directory in the format 01.wav 02.wav 03.wav etc. To burn the audio CDs I have been running K3B as root to avoid any potential permission issues. I now have a stack of cd 'coasters' with only one lucky success using the command line, which when the exact command was repeated failed again. I have successfully burnt 2 data DVDs using K3B, one as root the second as user, both without problem - so maybe it is not a permissions problem?
I am using K3b 1.0.5 in KDE 4.1.3. (it runs under KDE3) I have not been able to run k3bsetup � it is not part of the installation. However permissions appear correctly set-up � I also added the appropriate users to the group �disk�.

K3b uses the executables in /usr/bin/x11/ which are just the same. I have not put suid on anything. I tried running cdrecord as a user, however the burn failed.I checked the .wav files and they play fine in kaffeine. I am using the same brand of blank CDs as the DVDs.I have not had the occasion to try a data CD � I've run out of blank disks for the moment.

I tried burning audio CDs in both TAO and DAO mode, neither with success.
I have a new install of OpenSUSE 11.2 and am unable to burn CD's or DVD's. I am running Gnome, but have tried both Brasero and K3B. Have ensured that the user I am logged in as is a member of the 'cdrom' group, and have cross checked the permissions on files and devices such as /dev/sr0, /usr/bin/wodim etc. Have also attempted to burn as root with no success.
Problem is with files greater than 4G onto dual layer or BD disks.mkisofs crashes. I believe the problem to be when this requires udf filesystem and disk does not get written to. As yesterday version is suse11.3 patched to date. k3b writes standard dvd disks ok. I am seeing a lot of searches saying this is because of cdrkit rather than cdrtools, can I replace this easily? Is this the case? Tried setting the k3b options when burning to udf same error. Other searches show k3b has fixed probs with these issues, so appears to point to underlying mkisofs stuff full error log in yesterdays post if it helps. I will also try on ubuntu to see if it works there
I installed K3B 2 today on opensuse 11.2, hoping that something may have been done to make it burn disks, I've had these problems since opensuse 11.0.
When I try to burn a cdrw disk it usually fails with the error that the cd drive doesn't like the disk, if I try and expensive disk I sometimes get the same error, but if it does burn successfully and I put the disk back in the drive all I've got is a blank disk which won't take a 2nd burn.
I've tried DVDRWs and as soon as I click burn K3B decides the blank disk needs formatting and this then fails and keeps failing nomatter what I do. If I choose the ignore option for the speed when formatting it seems to format the disk then it takes between 1 & 3 attempts to burn the dissk.
