General :: File Generated Automatically In RHEL 3.0?

I am running redhat ent linux 3.0 with oracle database . Recently , I got a problem,perhaps some temporary files are created automatically and occupied my HDD . But I cannot find which files are created autamatically . Is there any way or any os related log file so that I can find that which files are generated automatically OR how can I trace it from OS perspective? I have to check oracle related tmp,trace and log file in every folder.

is possible to edited the default RHEL CD to have it automatically install RHEL based off of a kickstart file that I will store locally on the CD. My plan would be to put a cd in a server and have the OS automatically being installed.

And it was under Slackware64 13.0 and 13.1.Due to other issues with the 13.1 to 13.37 upgrade, I ended up performing a clean install so I don't think that this is due to leftover cruft.

while loading the generated lib file to tcl module i got following as belowi know it is searching for "Tcl_DecrRefCount()" method please tell me the library name where above method is defined..!orif anything bad in my program

When I run '# sudo touch newfile' my expectation was that the file would be owned by me, not by root, as my understanding of sudo is that it is giving me, the user, root priviledges but does not actually switch the user.Do I have a fundamental misunderstanding of what sudo is about?

Today i download cheops source code and when i type ./configure returns me this error :

I have an rsync server and am now setting up cwrsync on my windows machine. I want to be able to run cwrsync over ssh with public private keys. I followed a tutorial over here to set this up. It, however, still prompts me for server password and works only if I provide the password. For some reason the public/private key process is not working.
- I generated a key using the command: ssh-keygen -t rsa -N '' (I verified the key gets generated on my Windows machine)
- I uploaded the generated file id_rsa.pub to server /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
I am also prompted for a password if from command prompt I run this command to log into server: ssh -i c:docume~1user.sshid_rsa root@<server_ip_address> On server I have changed the configuration file (/etc/ssh/ssh_config) to say:
RSAAuthentication yes
PubkeyAuthentication yes
I then restarted the sshd service, however, to no avail.

i have new build testing centos 5.4 i386 base how to monitor logs and watch what is going wrong with file. i have 1 zmanda server enterprise i give permission and when i excecute nothing happend

The Completely Fair Queuing (cfq) scheduler in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5appears to have worse I/O read performance than in version 4. It appears as though the Completely Fair Queuing I/O scheduler (cfq) has a regression and thus exhibits reduced read-side throughput which can affect performance for both local and NFS mounted file systems.
One way to mitigate this is to set the cfq's slice_idle parameter to zero. To change this value, execute the following command echo 0 > slice_idle in the /sys/block directory appropriate for your situation, as shown below:
echo 0 > /sys/block/hda/queue/iosched/slice_idle
We are using NFS file systems in RHEL 5.3. I would like to know how to find which /dev/Device is being used by the NFS file systems, so that I could try setting the slice_idle to '0' to see if there is any difference in performance? In /etc/fstab I only see the actual NAS volumes for the NFS file systems.

I can't play mp3 from Rhythmbox music player, it says MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin required, and also I can't play mp4 from movie player it says h.264 decoder and MPEG-4 AAC decoder plugin required. what a joke!!! can you imagine for a newbie and for the first time like me use linux operating system find something like that.

When I SSH to a certain Linux host, although my default shell is tcsh, the .cshrc file under my home directory is not sourced at all. I can't understand why this happens because from my understanding, if I'm using the tcsh, the .cshrc should be sourced anyway!

I installed VMWare Server 2 and while configuring itI decided to perform a reboot as it kept generating errors.When my server came back upwill only launch my vncserver in twm (failsafe) mode.I have checked for any kind of errors and there are noneIn the same location I have another linux box which is identical and it works fine. I have compared everything and cant seem to figure out what is causing this.I manually uninstalled VMWare server using yum and the problem is still there

I have installed RHEL-5 on a 64-bit machine recently, and want to install java. Earlier when I did "java -version", it showed jre1.4.0. But for my application , I need jre 1.5.0 or later, so I decided to download jre1.6. I am the root user here and I downloaded the jre1.6 as rpm.bin as well as simple .bin format.
But the problem is that when I tried executing any of them, I am getting below error message :
" ./jre-6u16-linux-x64-rpm.bin: line 368: ./install.sfx.20520: cannot execute binary file"
Moreover, now when I tried "java -version", it is not showing any thing.
Could anybody suggest me how can I resolve this deadlock situation, as I need to install my other application at the earliest.

There are separate links for AS and ES version for RHEL 4.x version but why is it not available for RHEL 5.x versions?

I have installed CPAN module Spreadsheet::WriteExcel, to generate some reports. Now when i execute my perl module from command line. it works fine and generates the excel file. When i put this module to be executed via cron, it doenst work and an email is generated. When I submit a job via lpr on RHEL 5 using lpr -P MYPRINTER filename and then do a lpstat -t, the actual file name is not listed...just a job identifier e.g MYPRINTER-8 On AIX the lpstat command shows the actual print file name Using -C, -J or -T options in lpr also makes no difference to waht is seen in lpstat
