OpenSUSE Network :: Correctly Configure Apache / Subversion And Mod_dav In 11.2

Feb 17, 2010

I have a problem to correctly configure apache / subversion and mod_dav in openSUSE 11.2 I have setup a virtual host on my home server (because I need to access it from the Internet), that should be a subversion server. The subversion root directory is the

Code:
/srv/svn/repos
I plan to use a separate directory for each project.
So, the svn tree will be/srv/svn/repos/project1/....
/srv/svn/repos/project2/....
/srv/svn/repos/project3/..

Apache serves the web pages (actually the directories) but since the documentroot and the SVN root are the same, it cannot handle the SVN repositories correctly. So, I re-read the Setting up a Subversion server using Apache2 - openSUSE how-to and followed it's suggestion. (Use a Location outside the document root) Anyway, the problem is that I have a 404 error, which of course is normal, since there is no alias set for the /rep location I use.

OpenSUSE Network :: Sending Mail From Webserver

Dec 31, 2010

I have OpenSuse 64bit running a web site. I have a form on this site here:- Dynamic Systems Group The script itself works and I have tested it on another hosted server and it works fine. However on my server the email the script sends never arrives, which must be a problem with my Postfix settings I guess. However I also have two pages on my site for testing sending of mail, which BOTH report a postive result:-

[URL]

However even though these pages report successful send the mail stil never arrives. I have looked at many pages and forums on the internet and I am really, really confused as to how to set up Postfix. On the Suse box I have the Mail Server configured in Yast to send mail via my Gmail.com account using TLS and authentication but still no success!

Red Hat / Fedora :: VirtualBox Apache Webserver; Cannot Localhost 8888

Jun 28, 2011

I have installed VirtualBox on a MacBook and installed RHEL6 on a guest server ("Orion") in VirtualBox. I am trying to follow the tutorial at xenocafe on Apache Web Server Tutorial for Linux. I've checked a few other websites for port forwarding, and have used VBoxManage to set

Apache/GuestPort" 80
Apache/HostPort" 8888
Apache/Protocol" TCP

[code]...

I am able to ssh into the Virtual Box guest server using:

$ ssh -l rmt1 -p 2222 localhost

I believe this means that the port forwarding works. I am able to start and stop httpd on the guest with no warnings. I retired a problem with DocumentRoot by setting SELinus to disabled. My trouble is that: When I bring up a browser on the host and try localhost 8888 and expect to see my sample html page housed on the guest server (located under root / www), what I get is a spinning wheel.

And when I bring up a browser on the guest and try localhost 80 and expect to see the sample page I made, what I get is the well-known Apache test page. I am stuck in knowing (1) how to cause port 80 output from the guest to be interpreted by the host browser searching port 8888 (Or, Why does ssh into the guest work but http out of the guest not work), and, (2) how to arbitrarily determine the location of what the very first webpage is that will be loaded.

General :: Centos With Apache Webserver - Change The Localhost.local?

Dec 27, 2010

I have setup a Linux Centos with apache server on it in a home network. Everything works fine. When I access the webserver I put in the address bar the IP address of the server which is 192.168.0.150 and when hit enter, it prompts the page where I have to put login information. The login information is set to: username: admin@localhost.local password: *************

It takes long time for authentication go through and load the page eventhough I am accessing the site in a same home local area network with fast ethernet connection. How can I change the localhost.local to something else like maybe [URL] instead and if I have to change settings in other files as well?

Ubuntu Servers :: Webserver Is Working - Configure MySQL?

So in my first ever attempt at Linux (and servers) I was able to set up a working web server that is visible from outside my network and created a simple PHP page thanks to this tutorial. I installed MySQL and have some experience with MS SQL but have no clue how to get started setting up databases and writing procedures in MySQL. I know all the syntax about writing scripts for MySQL (assuming it's the same as SQL) but I don't know how to get started. Do I need to be on the web server or can I do it remotely? Is there a front end GUI that everyone uses?

OpenSUSE Network :: Configure A Connection With YAST As Well As With Network Manager?

Feb 1, 2010

Im new in this world of linux and suse. I have just installed the opensuse 11.2 in a Dell Inspiron 5160. Such laptop has a BCM4306 Wireless LAN controller. When I tried to configure a wlan connection, I found that the firmware was not installed. After looking in different forums, I installed the firmware b43. Now, my wlan card is abled to find the wireless of my router.

I have tried to configure a connection with YAST as well as with Network Manager, but both cases failled. Specifically, when I use Network manager, Im able to see in the applet my connection, how strong is the signal, but I see a yellow symbol (in one forum, such a box is shown with a green symbol).

I have check many time all about the secutity, encryption, and so one and all seems to be correct. But when I open the mozila firefox or the konqueror browser, no chance to surffer in internet. Now Im just a step to become crazy. The drivers are ok, the information about the router and the keys are ok, but in such a way, I am still harmloss.

OpenSUSE Network :: Unable To Configure Network / NICs Not Being Detected?

Sep 6, 2011

I'm going to come right out and say I am a complete novice with Linux/SUSE. The equipment I'm having a problem with is a little web-server that was purchased by my employer that has, quite suddenly, stopped functioning. I was changing the IP address within YaST, at which point the device offered to update itself, which I saw no harm in. Post-update, however, I was unable to so much as ping the device.

I tried "ifconfig eth0": "Error fetching interface information: Device not found." I went into network settings via YaST and found that there are two cards now listed as: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller Both IP addresses are "Not configured". The information pane, for both cards, cites:

RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controllerBusID : 0000:02:00.0 Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present. This is mostly caused by missing firmware (for wlan devices). See dmesg output for details. The only difference in either of the cards is the BusID (0000:02:00.0 and 0000:03.00.0)

I can neither edit nor delete either of these cards. As I mentioned, I am a total Linux novice, and am at a total loss for what to do next, or even how to find critical information about the system itself. I know enough to check dmesg, but not enough to have any clue what to look for in the output.

Server :: Accessing Internal Webserver From Public Webserver

Dec 18, 2009

Ok let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.

But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com

I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.

OpenSUSE Network :: Make Apache Mod_rewrite Work?

Jun 1, 2010

I want to enable Pretty URLs in Concrete5 and Joomla CMSs. So far I have- enabled pretty urls in the CMS- created .htaccess files (as they showed)- changed AllowOverride None to All in /etc/Apache2/httpd.conf <directory>- restarted ApacheBut the pretty urls still don't work, When I click any link on either site it gives me a page not found error. If I use the "non-pretty" URLs, all the links work. So I guess Apache either doesn't read the httpd config file or it doesn't read the .htaccess files or something else. Has anyone got this working? What else did you do?
