Server :: Apache 2.2.15 Using Worker MPM?

Mar 23, 2011

My inquiry is, we had this website which worked fine on apache version 2.2.15 using prefork mpm. We wanted to test this using worker mpm, so I compiled apache with the worker module and checked it was working but when we try to load the web page, we got a blank page. We are using fedora 11.

Red Hat / Fedora :: VirtualBox Apache Webserver; Cannot Localhost 8888

Jun 28, 2011

I have installed VirtualBox on a MacBook and installed RHEL6 on a guest server ("Orion") in VirtualBox. I am trying to follow the tutorial at xenocafe on Apache Web Server Tutorial for Linux. I've checked a few other websites for port forwarding, and have used VBoxManage to set

Apache/GuestPort" 80
Apache/HostPort" 8888
Apache/Protocol" TCP

[code]...

I am able to ssh into the Virtual Box guest server using:

$ ssh -l rmt1 -p 2222 localhost

I believe this means that the port forwarding works. I am able to start and stop httpd on the guest with no warnings. I retired a problem with DocumentRoot by setting SELinus to disabled. My trouble is that: When I bring up a browser on the host and try localhost 8888 and expect to see my sample html page housed on the guest server (located under root / www), what I get is a spinning wheel.

And when I bring up a browser on the guest and try localhost 80 and expect to see the sample page I made, what I get is the well-known Apache test page. I am stuck in knowing (1) how to cause port 80 output from the guest to be interpreted by the host browser searching port 8888 (Or, Why does ssh into the guest work but http out of the guest not work), and, (2) how to arbitrarily determine the location of what the very first webpage is that will be loaded.

General :: Apache 2.2 Setup On Debian - About Name Servers?

Jan 5, 2011

I'm setting up my Debain machine to host my homepage, and I have installed Apache 2.2, and a browser-based GUI for it called Webmin. I have a domain name with co.cc, it is www.patmore.co.cc. On the domain name site, there are two fields for name servers. Presently, they are set to the name servers for my hosting company. Apache is working on my machine. When I type my host name in my browser, it goes to index.html in the document root, as it should. When I key in my Debain machine's IP address on another machine on the same network, it also goes to index.html.

Attached, there is a screenshot of the Virtual Server Details in the Webmin GUI. I think I have the server name set right, but what do I type in the Address field? What do I need to type in for my name servers on the domain name site?

General :: Centos With Apache Webserver - Change The Localhost.local?

Dec 27, 2010

I have setup a Linux Centos with apache server on it in a home network. Everything works fine. When I access the webserver I put in the address bar the IP address of the server which is 192.168.0.150 and when hit enter, it prompts the page where I have to put login information. The login information is set to: username: admin@localhost.local password: *************

It takes long time for authentication go through and load the page eventhough I am accessing the site in a same home local area network with fast ethernet connection. How can I change the localhost.local to something else like maybe [URL] instead and if I have to change settings in other files as well?

Apr 25, 2010

I am trying to set up a webserver using Ubuntu server with the EHCP plugin. I have it working and can access the EHCP page by using the IP address on my local network (192.168.0.4) So far so good. I then set uo a domain using the Domain add new(custom)from the sidebar. I provided the following info:

domainname - learner
Panel - me
Panel password - me2
Ftp user - DACL
ftp password cullompton

Great I have now got a folder structure including httpdocs for that domain, I can also use filezilla to upload webpages etc to that folder, and have uploaded a page called index.htm One problem remains - what address do I type into the web browser to see the webpage. I've tried 192.168.0.4/learner which is what I expected to work.this will only ever be used as a web server on a local network, never on the WAN.

I just want to be able to send emails through my webserver, setup. I couldn't find a dev forum - so thought i'd post here. I'd like to be able to send emails (form my localhost setup) to and from my global client, namely: ( ***@yahoo.com), using PHP and Apache. A snippet from my php.ini file looks like:

Code:
; For Unix only. You may supply arguments as well (default: "sendmail -t -i").
; http://php.net/sendmail-path
sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -i -t
sendmail_from = example@yahoo.com

Now, I never could get this working in Windows, let alone Linux. I could do with it working though.

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup A Smtp Mailer For A Webserver

Feb 13, 2011

I've several webserver (ubuntu 10.10 x64) on which I would like to be able to send mail like newsletter.I don't need to recieve mail on these servers, I'm using google Apps for recieving mail for the hosted domains.There's sendmail installed by default on ubuntu server..Previoulsy I was using Exim4 configured to use gmail SMTP server to send technical mails (apticron, logwatch, cron mail), but it doesn't fit for newsletter type of mailing.On my tries, I've wanted to setup Exim4 (just for the sending part, no inbox, and not using gmail stmp) which result in:

sendmail marked a uninstalled but still there and working Exim4 complaining about not being able to bind the port 25.I've removed exim4 (/etc/init.d/exim4 were not deleted...)I've reinstalled sendmail.I got this warning on installof sendmail: /etc/mail/aliases: 5 aliases, longest 21 bytes, 91 bytes total

How do I restore a working sendmail? What do I need to do so that mail sent from these servers aren't marked as spam? (not considering the content of the mail, but the server that send the mail) I see that some company used some specialized company like "grosbill.emailingoptin.com for grosbill.com" Should I specialize one domain for all newsletter ?

Server :: Accessing Internal Webserver From Public Webserver

Dec 18, 2009

Ok let's say I have Apache Webservers on 2 different machines within my network, I have http://outterABC.com setup at dyndns.org to point to my modem at home, and my router forwards Port 80 to the ServerA Machine (i.e. 192.168.0.3). I can access my webpage I setup for the Server A Machine.

But what I want to try and do is somehow access my ServerB machine's website that is on my same network. I tried something like this http://ServerB.outterABC.com and the apache page came up with something like the page wasn't available. I want to access the content of the ServerB website, but because I have only one router, i can only forward Port 80 site traffic to my ServerA machine's website. I'm sure it's a different syntax I should use but i'm just not sure what I should enter to bring up the apache root web page for the Server B website via http://outterABC.com

I tried setting up DNS A records on ServerA, but I don't think it will work with what i'm trying to do above.

Ubuntu :: PDF Annotator - Can't Comment And Mail To Co Worker

Sep 15, 2010

Have spend I while searching the net for at PDF annotator for Linux, but can't seem to find any. Most of the forum and blog post I found on the subject suggested different programs, Common for these though, is that they don't do annotations in the pdf, but rather import the pdf as a background for writing on top and then saving your notes separately. This have to problems:

1. You can't comment a pdf and mail it to your co worker.
2. You can't switch between programs freely...

As far as I know the pdf format has capabilities for annotations/comments. So anybody know how to take advantage of this, for note taking? My use for this would mostly be notes on slides during lectures etc.

Programming :: Worker Class For Program Coordinator?

Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm attempting to create a Worker program which is to be called in a Coordinator program. The worker program needs to add two numbers from the argv and return the sum of those numbers. Basically my problem is some sort of syntax and I'm fairly new to this scripting stuff. Here's what I have:

#!/bin/bash
# Worker class for the program Coordinator
int worker(int argc, char *argv[] {
int sum = 0;
sum = atoi(argv[1]) + atoi(argv[2]);
printf("I am child with PID %d", getpid());
printf("sum=%d
", sum);
fprintf(atoi (argv[3]), sum, 4);
exit(sum); }

Here's the errors:
~$./worker 2 4
./worker: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `('
./worker: line 4: `int worker(int argc, char *argv[]'

Debian :: Losing Connection With SSH And Webserver With Lenny

Aug 13, 2009

I'm not sure if it is the connection I'm losing or something else is happening and I just can't fathom it out.

I have set up Debian from netinstall. I installed openssh server and Apache. The server is connected to our local network with the IP address 192.168.0.51 and shares a physical port on a simple ethernet switch.

I can SSH into the server from Ubuntu but it takes around one minute to ask for a password and another 20 seconds or so to bring up the prompt. I have checked twice to make sure their are no conflicting IP addresses on the network (all static). The connection seems fine but if I am away from the secure shell for more than a couple of minutes or I minimize the terminal window I can no longer type anything at the remote machines prompt. Reconnection without restarting the server is impossible on most attempts and the terminal just hangs before the password prompt appears.

I have the same kind of issue with Apache. I can view Apaches test index.html using just the IP address from my browser but after a few minutes I get the 'connecting to 192.168.0.52' in the status bar and it never reconnects.
