View 2 RepliesIs there a video editor that also allows me to edit the audio. For example I have 2 videos and want to take the audio from one clip and add it to the other clip. I have tried Avidemux and Pitivi but these don't seem to have this ability.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI mostly need it to filter away background noise from interviews. So, the editor should allow me to tweak the recordings in the frequency domain. I'm a Kubuntu user, so, if possible, propose me KDE apps!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a great system going with a bash script to update all of my mp3 files' genre tags. Now that my music collection is ogg, id3v2 doesn't work.
Can anyone recommend a command line tool to edit tags for ogg files please?
I've been using gtk record my desktop, which does a very good job and records nicely as a .ogv. The problem is, the Openshot editor doesn't appear to support .ogv files, which means I have to find some way of converting the .ovg to something Openshot can use. Having used both Pitivi and Arista to re-encode the file, I find the picture quality suffers some substantial loss by becoming noisy.
So, can anyone suggest:
1. A way to get Openshot to recognise .ogv files natively? or,
2. Suggest another screencast program that records to a high quality file that Openshot understands? or,
3. Suggest a video editing program that can open and work with .ogv files, allowing the addition of music and titles (text), and then save to a high quality file like mp4?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn windows I really only used Notepad++ as my text editor, it had two features that I loved. What I need to accomplish is what I would do with Notepad++ column editor.I could have like 100 lines, and place the cursor at a column, and goto edit>column editor, and I could insert an incrementing number. (I could also pad the incrementing number with 0s, this was GREAT for making batch files among other things.)So each line at that column had a number higher than the previous line. The other feature that I used sometimes was a search/replace with regex patterns.Does anyone know of an editor that has those features for linux? I am mostly after the column editor insert feature but if you know of one with both features that would rock.

I want to convert some wav files to wma files. I have the wav files currently in a folder called Test to make it easy. So I have entered the following command line:
ajpearson@ajpearson-laptop:~/Desktop/pacpl-4.0.5$ pacpl --to wma home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test and the error message I get is:
error: the following is not a file or directory: home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test
It does not matter what directory I use I get the same error. I am sure the answer is obvious - but not t me.
I've been looking for a good, easy to install, video editor. All searches thus far have lead into blind install alleys. All I want to do at this point is edit, cut, and paste AVI and MPEG4 files.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have noticed and this now worries me, if I export a KeePassX xml file then open it with a text editor I can see all my private details.Just tested it on my old desktop with Slitaz and open the exported file with leafpad text editor and I can see my details just the same.Previously I used RoboForm and when viewing an exported file in the same way you could not make out any of my details. Is KeePassX designed this way or have I not used KeePassX correctly.I have posted this on KeePassX forum and emailed them direct with no response so far.Ubuntu 11.04.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat would be a nice, simple command to go through all files in a directory (no sub-directories), and change all the MP4 Video files I have to MP3 audio files (keeping the original filenames except for changing the "mp4" extension to "mp3")?
The files in question were videos taken with one of those Flip cameras, but I only need the audio off of it.
I've been using KBibTeX to manage bibliography (.bib) files under Gnome in openSUSE 11.2 and 11.3 (running outside Kile). What is the simplest way to carry on under openSUSE 11.4? YaST does not find KBibTeX, and the site HTML Code: [URL] does not mention openSUSE.

If I'm in a terminal window, and I open a file by typing eg :
It opens as a blank document... I know it has text in it though!
I've tried with other files and also with nano so it's not just a problem with a particular file.
How do I view the current contents of the file so I can then edit it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just started using FireFTP instead of FileZilla because I got fed up with FileZilla not opening remote files and not recognising the default editor Gedit.
I really want to use keyboard shortcuts with FireFTP, which is possible according to the help docs on-line, but there is no option to use shortcuts anywhere even having enabled FireFTP to open in a new window. I tried it in Shiretoko 3.59 and Firefox 3.18 with no luck.
I just tried removing FileZilla and it does not appear in my list of installed apps. It appears in the full list as uninstalled but when ticking the box to install gives this message. FileZilla FTP client cannot be installed on your computer type (i386). Either the application requires special hardware features or the vendor decided to not support your computer type. I already have FileZilla..so how is that?
Setting up a linux based church server to be placed with a collocation host.
-- Server will be used for:
--- providing .pdf files
--- live streaming of church services (audio for now audio video soon)
--- providing audio files
--- providing audio-video files
--- our internet web site
A. Is there a preferred Linux distribution that will make this easier?
B. What is the best format for audio and video files that will be viewed variously on Linux, Mac, and Microsoft operating systems? Files will need to be played on older versions of operating systems and may need a free or very low cost software to play (e.g. play on Win2k)
C. What software is best for recording the audio or audio-video files? Some additional funding might be justified for this software, particularly if it can also support live streaming.
D. What software is best for live streaming both on the file creation and the listening-viewing sides of the process?
Ideally we would like to have a single software suite to live stream, and make downloadable audio or audio-video files for later download, and not require those listening and viewing to have to install additional software. Keeping file sizes small is also desirable because some of our users will probably only have dial-up internet.
I would like to make Firefox view text files not in its internal editor, but in the external editor (namely EmacsClient). Is it possible to change this default behavior of Firefox?I beg your pardon for being inconcise, I'll try to state the matter once again. First thing to mention is that I use the Linux version of Firefox. That means that unlike the Windows version the contents of the application bindings dialog is very scarce.
When I click on the link to a text file (be it remote or local) by default Firefox opens it in the internal browser. I've tested, somehow it looks at file extension - when for example I make a file with .mpg extension, the behaviour is as it should be - the dialog with "Open With..." and stuff. When the file has unknown extension (unknown to /etc/mime.types), in my case it's .out, pure text format - the default behaviour is to open it in a Firefox window.
How default editor can be changed in redhat linux to different editor.

View 3 Replies View RelatedStrange problem from a couple of months, Audio files skip every now and then. Sounds like buffering issue. MP3, Wav etc. all skip on VLC, Qamp etc, once in a minute or two, its quite random. i thought there was CPU spikes or something by some program i installed. I checked the system monitor and found no unusual spikes in the CPU... so i am thinking this must be the audio buffers. Can i set the buffers for the for the driver or something? my machine is: Dell Inspiron Mini netbook Ubutu lucid 10.04, 2bg RAM, 260GB HDD

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an android phone. The voice recorder records files in 3gp audio only format. I can play these on my computer with the standard gnome player and with vlc. However, audacity won't open it up. There is an error that says that FFmpeg should import it but it didn't understand the format. I need to edit some of these audio files for use.
