A friend of mine has downloaded an album from itunes for me because I could not do it from Ubuntu. Afterwards he sent me the files.
Is there any way I can burn these files to an audio CD from Ubuntu?
Also... Can I just put these .m4a files on a USB stick along with my .mp3`s and expect all car radios to be able to play them?
For the longest I have been unable to burn an audio CD that contains ogg files with GnomeBaker, and have always had to decode to wav manually. Well I'm tired of doing that, so want to get to the bottom of the problem. Upon adding an ogg file to the file list, the error I receive is:
"The plugin to handle a file of type audio/ogg is not installed." I have all the gstreamer0.10-plugins-[base|bad|good|ugly] packages installed. I can play an .ogg file with rhythmbox.
Using gconf-editor, /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/profiles/cdlossy is "active" and the cdlossy profile is listed in /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/global/profile_list At a loss on what I need to do.
I've just arrived in Linux. I like it very much but some problems are arising...for example how can I burn an audio CD using hp3 files with K3b?

I have a bunch of mp3's on my computer that I would like to burn to a blank DVD that I have and play one long continuous DVD audio CD. Is this possible and if so, how do I do this? I was trying to burn a .wav file to CD but Brasero ejects the media without burning anything after transcoding the wav file and creating an image. I'm attaching the error log to aid in debugging.I can burn data CDs fine. My burner, a Samsung SM-308B, can't burn DVDs so I don't know about burning them.

This happens every time I try to burn an audio CD burning data CD seems to work fine.I open Brasero, click Audio project, drag a couple of FLAC files into it and try to burn, or in this particular case, create an image.A dialogue pops up where I am supposed to tell it where to put the image. I click Desktop but I don't change the file name (something like brasero.cue or whatever).Then it starts doing things but after a short while I get an error message and I am asked to save the log file, which I did and here it is:

I am not able to burn audio CDs with Brasero 2.30.1, which uses cdrdao 1.2.3 However, Opensuse 11.3 comes with cdrdao 1.2.2 I don't feel comfortable replacing the version myself. Is there any plans to update cdrdao for Opensuse any time soon? PS: I am running Gnome in Opensuse 11.3

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to burn a DVD using k3b, and would like to access files from a shared network drive from a Windows machine. I can see the files in Nautilus from "Network Servers" and drilling down to the right directory, I can open the files no problem, but I can't get k3b to recognise them.
Firstly I can't navigate to the network drive from the file tree on the left in K3b.
If I drag and drop the files from Nautilus into k3b, it says "Problems while adding files to the project: No non-local files supported".
If I use Project -> Add Files I can then get to the network drives, but when I select and add the files it says "Remote files not accepted - You can only select local files".
In the end I had to copy all the files using Nautilus from the network share onto a USB stick, burn the DVD and then delete the files again. (I used the USB stick just to see if that counted as more "local" than a network share). Was there an easier / more efficient way to do this that I missed?
I have installed this program ok but I am new to command lines in terminal.
I want to convert some wav files to wma files. I have the wav files currently in a folder called Test to make it easy. So I have entered the following command line:

error: the following is not a file or directory: home/ajpearson/Desktop/Test
It does not matter what directory I use I get the same error. I am sure the answer is obvious - but not t me.
What would be a nice, simple command to go through all files in a directory (no sub-directories), and change all the MP4 Video files I have to MP3 audio files (keeping the original filenames except for changing the "mp4" extension to "mp3")?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOther day i installed limewire downloaded some music i went to burn them and did something wrong? after it was done i went out to my car ( can play MP3's in car) to see how it sounds and came up with a error i think what i did was just copy them over and burned them NOT convert or change to audio cd? steps or program to use that burns them into a audio cd and do i have to convert them first and can i use a DVD cd? (if not no biggie will use regular cd)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had this issue in Slackware64 13 but I had hoped that it would have been fixed in 13.1. I have my permissions setup correctly, I can even burn DVDs just fine, but every audio CD I try to burn in k3b gives me an unknown error with regard to cdrtools (254). It gives me this error at about 200mb of writing every single time, even when simulating the burn. Here is the error log that k3b puts out.

It converts any mobile file to a file of your choice, it worked PERFECTLY for my .qcp file, converted it from qcp to mp3 with no problem, no skips, full file.
My work just installed a new surveillance system and it uses .box video files and .idx audio to go along with it. They have a windows program to view them but I would love to keep on using my Ubuntu laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed OpenSuse 11.1 (i586) on a new laptop (HP 6710b) all has been going well, until I tried to burn audio CDs with K3B using .wav files in a directory in the format 01.wav 02.wav 03.wav etc. To burn the audio CDs I have been running K3B as root to avoid any potential permission issues. I now have a stack of cd 'coasters' with only one lucky success using the command line, which when the exact command was repeated failed again. I have successfully burnt 2 data DVDs using K3B, one as root the second as user, both without problem - so maybe it is not a permissions problem?
I am using K3b 1.0.5 in KDE 4.1.3. (it runs under KDE3) I have not been able to run k3bsetup � it is not part of the installation. However permissions appear correctly set-up � I also added the appropriate users to the group �disk�.

When windows media player is playing certain music file i used to drag and drop some jpg file as album art and then transfer the file into my walkman; but now in rhythmbox if i drag and drop it changes the album art momentarily but when i transfer the music into walkman it doesn't show that album art.

Recently I saw that with a MKV file you could do soft subtitles. I tested a part of a movie, and the audio and video are very out of sync.
With MP4/burned in audio everything is ok...
Edit: Ow yes I'm using XBMC for playing it. MP4 + MKV files are both H.264, they have the exact same settings except for subtitles...
Weirdly Enough: I tried another video and at this one the audio is in sync....
I need to export DVD chapters into WMV files (with audio). dvd::rip doesn't seem to support WMV output.
