View 5 RepliesI am using Evolution 2.30.2 and recently set it up with my Hotmail account. However, when it fetched my messages, they were deleted from the online server. I read somewhere that there is a 'leave messages on server' checkbox in Edit>Preferences>Mail Accounts>Edit>Receiving Options but it is not there.

In the top panel when I click my user name, I only have one option and that is to suspend. Normally I like to hibernate or shutdown. And I can't see any option of what to do when I close my netbook. Normally, I prefer to hibernate.
I know that there is a nice little launcher that will run the script for Grub to select a menu option upon shutdown for a reboot [URL]
I however would like to use this from Windows XP and have grub select menu item 2 during a reboot. Does anyone know if there is any way to set Grub commands from within Windows?
I've recently upgraded to 11.04.Till now, I could select an option to make the open folders on shutdown, to restore on startup. There was an option to restore running applications

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using amahi on a computer that has two Ethernet ports but the one identified by the system as eth0 is nonfunctional (as in hardware is dead). So, because amahi needs to use the wired connection at eth0, i did a binding switch so that the computer would look at what was eth1 as eth0 and what was eth0 as eth1. I have handed control of the network devices to NetworkManager because it really is much easier that way; but, when i turn off my computer and then later turn back on, in the ifcfg-eth0 file (located in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts) the NM_CONTROLLED setting is set back to "no" Because of this, i have to set it back to yes in the network configuration application and restart the Network Manager service for it to work again. after doing so Amahi and network/internet access work as they should. I am not sure if this is of note or not but when the network is working NetworkManger identifies the connection as "System eth1" and when the network is not working it identifies the connection as "Auto eth0" why it would reset itself and what i can do to fix it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a NAS in my home network which is automatically mounted using NFS on my desktop. There's only media files and documents on the NAS, no installed programs. None of those documents or media files appear in the Recently Used tab.
Whenever I click on the K-menu button of the taskbar, the menu does open but I cannot use it for a while; then I hear the harddisks in the NAS spin up and after a couple of seconds I can use the menu.
This is, of course, really annoying because it limits the speed at which I can use the K-menu. Why does it need access to the NAS anyway? Is there any way I can disable this?
I'm on KDE 4.1.3 on my openSuSE 11.1. Once while playing around with the Plasma Widget I accidentally deleted the KMenu Widget. Though I did get it back, I am unable to use the shortcut key (Alt+F1) since. I checked the Keyboard Shortcuts and found that the Alt+F1 key is mapped as a shortcut to the Application Launcher under Plasma Workspace.

Ubuntu installed after Win7. Dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu 10.04, shared NFTS partition for Downloads and Documents, Grub setup to load Ubuntu by default. I can use the option to hibernate in Windows (but it is disabled by default). I would very much like to enable the "Hibernate" function on this machine, but there is no option for it in the menus. "sudo shutdown now" in a Terminal results in a screen that resembles the login screen background, but the machine is completely irresponsive and must be silenced by long-pressing the physical power button. When I use the GUI to shut down, everything works fine. Perhaps related: When waking the machine from the screen saver, the login window does not turn up before I press the "Esc" button. I am using a standard Gnome screen saver. Perhaps related: The Grub boot screen is getting more and more options every time the Linux kernel is updated.
I have this win32 program that only runs after tweaking some settings in q4wine. Unfortunately however, the link to the program in the K-Menu was created at install time, and does not include aforementioned tweaks, so in order to start the program i have to start q4wine and then the program from there. How can I make a link in the menu reflecting the q4wine-changed settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI try to clear 'recently used documents' within the kmenu nothing happens, i.e. the list is not cleared, until I reboot or log out and back in again. It's an old issue but thought I'd just ask if there are some fix for this. There is another small flaw on my system as well which is with refreshing the content displayed in a directory using dolphin (and possibly other file-viewers/apps). For instance, if I unpack a tar/rar/zip package I have to manually refresh dolphin for having it display the new extracted folder.

I thought it was supposed to give me the choice to make a fresh install or upgrade, but there is no such thing that I can find. I have looked on the Opera Downloads page and on the Synaptic package manager page. Neither of them give me the option to upgrade, only a new install. I would like to keep my old preferences, passwords, etc. I need to upgrade to fix the problems with unresponsive flash players (....., etc.)

However I could not find the "software source" option that was under Administration in 10.04 and earlier. I am in Australia and getting all of the updates from the main U.S. based server is a really slow. I used the optus server before and got much quicker updates. Is there a choose server option in 10.10 that I missed?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to automate an svnadmin dump command for a backup script, and I want to do something like this:
find /var/svn/* ( ! -name dir -prune ) -type d -exec svnadmin dump {} > {}.svn ;
This seems to work, in that it looks through each svn repository in /var/svn, and runs svnadmin dump on it.
However, the second {} in the exec command doesn't get substituted for the name of the directory being processed. It basically just results a single file named {}.svn.
I suspect that this is because the shell interprets > to end the find command, and it tries redirecting stdout from that command to the file named {}.svn.
