I have this win32 program that only runs after tweaking some settings in q4wine. Unfortunately however, the link to the program in the K-Menu was created at install time, and does not include aforementioned tweaks, so in order to start the program i have to start q4wine and then the program from there. How can I make a link in the menu reflecting the q4wine-changed settings?

Slack version is 13.37
I've followed alien bobs instructions for a multilib environment from here:[url]
And then used sbopkg to download and compile wine version 1.2.2, which went through just fine.
After that I grabbed cabextract from sbopkg and ran this: wget [url] sh winetricks d3dx9 To get the DX9.
But, when I try to run the game, this is the error I get:

The game it self ran perfectly on the 32 bit version of Slackware, tested with 13.0. So now I think I'm missing some libs or something, but I have no clue which.

Now i have 64 bit computer i installed Slackware 23 64 bit on it. i followed Alien Bob's multi lib how to and installed needed libraries one by one. everything is fine expect wine configure script can not find some libraries needed: libgsm, libmpg123, libopenal, libxcomposite.
I have already installed 32 bit compatibility packages and used /etc/profile.d/32bit.sh as recommended in Alien Bob's howto. configure -- does not really list anything for pointing for libraries.
I'm on KDE 4.1.3 on my openSuSE 11.1. Once while playing around with the Plasma Widget I accidentally deleted the KMenu Widget. Though I did get it back, I am unable to use the shortcut key (Alt+F1) since. I checked the Keyboard Shortcuts and found that the Alt+F1 key is mapped as a shortcut to the Application Launcher under Plasma Workspace.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a NAS in my home network which is automatically mounted using NFS on my desktop. There's only media files and documents on the NAS, no installed programs. None of those documents or media files appear in the Recently Used tab.
Whenever I click on the K-menu button of the taskbar, the menu does open but I cannot use it for a while; then I hear the harddisks in the NAS spin up and after a couple of seconds I can use the menu.
This is, of course, really annoying because it limits the speed at which I can use the K-menu. Why does it need access to the NAS anyway? Is there any way I can disable this?
I try to clear 'recently used documents' within the kmenu nothing happens, i.e. the list is not cleared, until I reboot or log out and back in again. It's an old issue but thought I'd just ask if there are some fix for this. There is another small flaw on my system as well which is with refreshing the content displayed in a directory using dolphin (and possibly other file-viewers/apps). For instance, if I unpack a tar/rar/zip package I have to manually refresh dolphin for having it display the new extracted folder.

I would welcome any advice, comments or caveats that might contribute to the installation. In particular, have I made the
correct download? Another example: My preference is that the installation be made to /usr/local, since that directory is on its own partition. Will that introduce any problems?
I tried shutting down from terminal as opposed to KMenu and the shutdown hung without completing. I did a 'hard' shutdown mechanically.The command I used was: # shutdown -a -t 5secs now
Is there a way to correct this?

As always, very impressive effort from Slackbuilds.org to get slackbuild scripts updated for 13.1. Thanks to all who maintain these scripts. One which does not seem to have made it to 13.1 so far is a build script for WINE. Anybody know whether this is beacuse of some problem ? Or just an oversight ? The 13.0 script is there - might be OK to just use this with 13.1 ?

When I get to the wine SlackBuild, it tells me that it needs fontforge & webcore-fonts. I am assuming that I need to install these dependencies as 32-bit, but I am not sure, so would someone use the proper baseball bat to get me on track?

It appears to me that a successful build may have been made at /tmp/build/package-wine/usr But the install has failed.
I'm using a slack 13.37 version and this message is occuring during wine apps running:
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 00010000-00110000
Instead of being only a warning, I think it's breaking down and don't know exactly it's a wine or OS problem.

But I'm in a 32bits option ( no multilibs ), my wine, dependencies packages and procedures are the same installed before in 13.1 . Just system was changed! Anyone have any info on that sytem or wine problem?
I recently downloaded the wine-1.3.16-x86_64-1sg.txz and did an install using: installpkg wine-1.3.16-x86_64-1sg.txz The install appeared to work correctly and I can now type 'wine' and get the version number etc... View 5 Replies View Relatedwhile trying to get a game to work on wine I was surprised to find out that the wine version that ships with sid is 1.0.1 released in October 2005. So I installed the latest release I found at [URL] like this :
dpkg -i wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
The install failed, I think because I hadn't remove the old wine version, and that's when the joy-ride started. Impossible to remove wine to restart properly. (apt-get remove libwine wine and apt-get -f install didn't) After some googling I tried this :
dpkg -i --force-depends wine_1.1.42~winehq1-1_amd64.deb
This did install the wine version I wanted, and the game ran fine after that. However the result was a borked apt-get. Tried to remove wine again with the above commands, resulting in apt-get failing to do so because it tried installing wine-unstable and reported errors similar to these : E: Could not perform immediate configuration on 'wine-unstable'. see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details.
