I am trying to install the k10temp driver for sensors in order to get temps off my cpu. I found this but I dont know what to do with the makefile.
View 2 RepliesAfter I ran sensors-detect, it said that Ä° needed k10temp module to be compiled, so I searched some forums and got required stuff. However, before compiling it, I added the gnome applet for sensors to the panel, and surprisingly it shows the cpu and motherboard temperatures. How reliable it is? Do I still need to compile k10temp? (I will compile it since I don't want to use a kernel from experimental repo).My kernel is 2.6.32-5-amd64, TestingCPU: AMD Phenom 2 x4 955 BE

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 with a Dlink DGE-530T NIC. My browsing in Ubuntu on ALL browsers is horribly slow. It works perfectly fine on windows and other PCs on the LAN. So I know for sure my router and my internet line is fine.I figured it could be a problem with my NIC drivers and decided to install the drivers from the CD. (All this while it was running on the default drivers that ship with Ubuntu). I'm trying to install the sk98lin drivers and my understanding of the kernel so far is still very weak. When I try to run the install.sh script it gives me an error saying :

So Ive decided to give Ubuntu a shot after many years of being abused by a Window.. Although it looks good so far Ive yet not managed to install drivers for my HD5850.Whats really stopping my is that I'm reading the instructions and I came across a little "must have" list, here is how it goes..

I can't for the life of me get the xsensors to work. I installed lm-sensors, the applet and also xsensors.I followed everything on this guide:URl... Went through it more than twice and a couple of restarts. I just can't figure out what's wrong.When I run "sensors" nothing is found. I ran the sensors configuration and it only found one device to add to /etc/modules. Please see the trace below, I would be very grateful if you can help me find the fix for this! I'm struggling to get my Conky feed to show the CPU temperature. I'm working with a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10. Currently my Conky display shows a CPU temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, and I know this isn't true because I built the computer myself and I'm definitely not that good! Also, the GNOME hardware applet contradicts this and gives a more realistic CPU temperature of 33 degrees Celsius. What I can do to rectify this and get this displayed in my Conky?

How to control the driver order be loaded by linux.
For example: I have two ethernet card is A and B. Sometimes A be loaded first sometimes another. How to control A card be load first in every times?
I am porting a Python program to Linux (which I'm a first time user of). The program uses ADAM modules for which I need the driver installed. My problem is compiling a file "usbserial.c" into "usbserial.o" in order to do makefile install. I've replaced the config.h with autoconf.h. I entered "sudo apt-get upgrade", though I don't know why. Now my src folder looks like this:

I just recently changed my motherboard, and now the command "sensors" shows "no sensors detected" I ran sensors-detect but still i get no sensors detected.

Both Core0 and Core1's temperatures are shown twice with nearly identical temperatures and it looks like that the temps are switched around. Is there anyway I can fix this?
what I can use in Ubuntu for monitoring CPU core temps, CPU and memory speed and such, used CPU-Z, prime, HD tune up and and the like when OC'ing and UC'ing my Windows PC's but what Ubuntu equivalents are there?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to add more sensors for hdd drives temperatures but i see only one and no place/options to add more.I know they all work,(i have 4 physical hdd) if i use the hhdtemp command (dev/sdXX) it show the temp for all of them (one at time).
Any way to make gkrellm display all of them ?
I,ve been googling around and searching on various forums but haven't found anything about that (other than how to make it work,or troubleshooting to make it work).
I've tried conky ..but gives me more errors than info and i gave up.
Does anyone know if it's possible to grab the temperatures from an ATI card using the open source radeon driver (not fglrx/catalyst).
I must say that the radeon driver has come a long way and works wonderfully under Lucid for my needs. I'm just a bit worried about the lack of PM support and how high my temps might be. I would prefer some way to keep an eye on things

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell Insp. 1545 2.16 GHZ 3GB RAM I have the following problem that I don't have on Vista. Problems:
1. Fan is running almost constantly
2. Cpu temps reaching 69C, stable at 54C
3. Temps spike especially with Java and npviewer.bin (in both FF/CHROME)
Ex. In system monitor, npviewer and Java take up about 90%, and while running, the CPUs are at 1. 80% 2. 90%. However, even when these processes are killed, basic activity (FF, file browsing etc) cpu% stay near 50/70, and fan stays on. Question: any suggestions? I heard restricted drivers could cause this problem. Any thoughts?
I'm using Ubuntu Netbook Edition on my family's 4 netbooks. Sadly (and a big mistake in my opinion?), I can't add a temp monitoring applet to my panel, but that's not really the point. I am needing a way to monitor my computer temps that includes a graph (kinda like a CPU usage monitoring graph).
I really need this ability because I have another regular laptop that overheats at times and I would like to see the history without using a script to do it via text and logging.
I'm thinking of a web based app that will monitor temps and values fed in from a data acquisition device but am seeking advice on what to use to produce the web page would php be powerful enough? The app will also have to have access to a shell for scripting, I know thats a security risk but it will not be in an exposed env. The web page will have a series of lcd readouts displaying the aquired data refresh rates will probably be around 5 seconds along with control buttons to turn on and off values. Storing data in a mysql database for statistical reports would be needed eventually. Ubuntu 9.10 will be the os. Is python easily integrated into apache?

I want to install the latest ubuntu (which I know I can just install right on top of &) but I also want to install FreeBSD and either Windows Server 2003 (maybe 2008 if i can get my hands on it). What would be the best way to go about installing these 3 OSes next to W7? I was also thinking about just upgrading my hard drive to a 2TB internal anyways, so waiting to get that is also an option, then installing everything in the "best" order. I also want to try installing Mac sometime too once I upgrade hardware.
