Recently upgraded to Squeeze, and have a problem with Devede I haven`t seen before. When I try to convert three avi files to play on a standard dvd player, the finished ISO is still only 2,2 GB. It turns out only the first file gets included in the ISO, even though I can see Devede processing all files during conversion.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to add more sensors for hdd drives temperatures but i see only one and no place/options to add more.I know they all work,(i have 4 physical hdd) if i use the hhdtemp command (dev/sdXX) it show the temp for all of them (one at time).
Any way to make gkrellm display all of them ?
I,ve been googling around and searching on various forums but haven't found anything about that (other than how to make it work,or troubleshooting to make it work).
I've tried conky ..but gives me more errors than info and i gave up.
When I do the 'sensors' command in Terminal, this is what shows up:

Both Core0 and Core1's temperatures are shown twice with nearly identical temperatures and it looks like that the temps are switched around. Is there anyway I can fix this?
what I can use in Ubuntu for monitoring CPU core temps, CPU and memory speed and such, used CPU-Z, prime, HD tune up and and the like when OC'ing and UC'ing my Windows PC's but what Ubuntu equivalents are there?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to monitor the temps of /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc in Conky (/dev/sda is an SSD so not necessary, or even possible). I have HDDtemp running as a daemon, and returning correct temps for both drives when run from konsole. Output:

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell Insp. 1545 2.16 GHZ 3GB RAM I have the following problem that I don't have on Vista. Problems:
1. Fan is running almost constantly
2. Cpu temps reaching 69C, stable at 54C
3. Temps spike especially with Java and npviewer.bin (in both FF/CHROME)
Ex. In system monitor, npviewer and Java take up about 90%, and while running, the CPUs are at 1. 80% 2. 90%. However, even when these processes are killed, basic activity (FF, file browsing etc) cpu% stay near 50/70, and fan stays on. Question: any suggestions? I heard restricted drivers could cause this problem. Any thoughts?
Does anyone know if it's possible to grab the temperatures from an ATI card using the open source radeon driver (not fglrx/catalyst).
I must say that the radeon driver has come a long way and works wonderfully under Lucid for my needs. I'm just a bit worried about the lack of PM support and how high my temps might be. I would prefer some way to keep an eye on things
I'm using Ubuntu Netbook Edition on my family's 4 netbooks. Sadly (and a big mistake in my opinion?), I can't add a temp monitoring applet to my panel, but that's not really the point. I am needing a way to monitor my computer temps that includes a graph (kinda like a CPU usage monitoring graph).
I really need this ability because I have another regular laptop that overheats at times and I would like to see the history without using a script to do it via text and logging.
I am trying to install the k10temp driver for sensors in order to get temps off my cpu. I found this but I dont know what to do with the makefile.

The app will also have to have access to a shell for scripting, I know thats a security risk but it will not be in an exposed env. The web page will have a series of lcd readouts displaying the aquired data refresh rates will probably be around 5 seconds along with control buttons to turn on and off values. Storing data in a mysql database for statistical reports would be needed eventually. Ubuntu 9.10 will be the os. Is python easily integrated into apache?

My granddaughter has found them and finds them fantastically entertaining but VHS isn't exactly hardy for a 4 year old to handle. I'm looking to convert them to DVD for both backup and space savings. Cinderella has already bit the dust and I'm paying dearly for it. I have done some research and every bit of information assumes that I would have an idea of what I'm doing.
I do own a DVR but most of them won't copy for copy protect reasons. As far as I can tell the only way I can convert them is by going from analog VHS to digital DVD. Now, I have no clue how to do this nor what hardware I would need if any to do this.

Is there something wrong with my mencoder command, or is there perhaps a better way of attacking this. I've spent a fair bit of time looking for a solution to this and there seems to very little information around. I would have thought this would be quite a common thing to try and do?

I always get something like:
FAIL formats: can't open output file `/tmp/t.mp3': SoX was compiled without MP3 encoding support
mp3 not working.
Anyone know how to do this, or know of a different way of converting ogg to mp3?

I have several files (DVDs, flv, mpeg, mp4...) that I'd like to watch on my Android phone (HTC Tattoo) that supports H264 and my other phone that supports 3GP.
INstalled Handbrake - does not have a 3GP option; mp4 will play audio but not video on Tattoo.
Installed Transmageddon - complains that cannot find the plugin although I click OK on download
Installed WinFF - complains no encoder.
I'm missing something from my packages but what? And where to get it?
I have a video on DVD disk. It is split into 4 parts with file extension VOB. The total time is ~90 mins. In the fourth part I need just the 4:53 first minutes.
I would like to append the 3 parts and the 4:53 first minutes of the fourth part together without lessening the quality and to convert them into AVI.

I'm trying to convert a screencast of RecordMyDesktop, from .ogv to .avi. I want to upload this video to ....., but the problem that i found is: When the convertion with mencoder is finished; the video resultant is longer that the original, the original video has 13:01 min and the converted video have 39:00, in wich only up to the minute 13:01 is reproducible. And when I use Arista Transcoder, and convert the video to mp4 for example. The video resultant is normal, but when it's uploaded to , in the sound is ruined.

And that makes for low quality and skipping up movies. basically I want to take the 3gp and convert to avi with leaving as much of the playback alone as possible. What is a better way to convert these files? How can I prevent these skipped frames? What would be the memcoder switches line to retain as much quality as possible while converting the files to avi?
