In Lucid I was in the Change deskop Background window When i noticed that the cosmos option was a slide show. is there a way I can make my image slide shows for use as the background?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a very big image directory: One image per minute, whole a year, captured from a webcam. Now I want to make a video (15 or 24FPS) with all the webcam captures, to see how it changed during this period. I've tried automotion, but it makes a very low quality video, besides it blocks with lots of images. I've also tried dvd-slideshow, but it's not possible to make a more-than-1FPS video.
I also need to change the date in each webcam's images, because they are wrong, so it needed to overlay a little layout with the right date for each image, is that possible to manage within some application? Preferibly shell applications which supports lots of Gb of information (anyway I always could make little videos and then glue them)
Subj: this probably discussed many times, could anybody provide a link to step-by-step process. Is there a simple process rather then copy packages from disks2-6 to disk1 directories?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 images stored temporarily in home folder totaling 21 gigs. I recieved warning stating that home disrectory is full.
I used gparted and resized extended partition and home partition. When I look at disk usage it still says that I'm maxed out in /home/edward. How do I increase my share as I have plenty of space. Or, can I create a place for storing images? Also the images were created and placed there using clonezilla.
I have an old game, and I want to back up the disk because its old and a little scratched. I tried to use dd to record the disk, but it crashes with an "i/o error", which is strange because I can read the files on the cd without any problem.Luckily, I found all of the files from the disk already backed up on my hard drive. The problem is, when I create an iso image using mkisofs it abbreviates all of the filenames... which makes the game not... run. So how do I create an iso image with long filenames?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running OpenSuse 11.0 in a lamp configuration with Apache 2. I configured Apache with the .conf files instead of YAST because I am running virtual hosts (that's another story).
My problem is that my server will not render the pages unless the permissions are set to 775 which I know is not necessary. This is also causing a problem because I am trying to install WordPress onto the server. WordPress will run, but it unable to upload images because it cannot create the directories required.
Apache2 is running as 755 with root as owner and www as group. I changed the owner of the htdocs sub-directories to myself, and created a group that has permissions to write to the directory. WordPress runs as my user and has the same permissions (775).

I am attempting to use SuseStudio "preload" and "live" .iso images and the instructions at SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE to create a bootable USB drive.dd_rescue ends after the expected amount of time--without reporting errors--yet "fdisk -l" reports that the device does not contain a valid partition table. The USB key does not boot and appears to have no data.
For what it's worth, my build host is Gentoo on 2.6.39, and I have the latest dd-rescue available. The USB disk is a PNY attache 4GB and works fine with any ISO's supported by unetbootin. The only other bare metal I have here is a netbook running Mepix, so I can't make use of solutions that start with "Boot your existing OpenSuse workstation
I have a strange problem that has "Just" appeared. When I go to " Places" and click on a folder Videos for example - the display shows "No Images" however if I click on the image icon - all the videos on file are displayed.If I insert a USB memory stick - open this - ALL my folders are displayed as normal in the side pane.Equally if I go to " Computer " open this - all folders are displayed in the side pane.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.
We are trying to load Fedora Core 4, yes I know it is obsolete, onto a server that utilizes SAS drives. he distro in question does not have the appropriate drivers native to a vanilla iso image, so I need to create a new iso image that contains the drivers in question.Can anyone recommend an application that will allow me to create a new iso image that will contain the drivers that are needed for the install
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirstly i'd like to introduce myself before I ask my question, i am currently studying a "Network Operating System 2" course, and in the syllabus the professor decided to use Ubuntu Linux for us. This is a first for me and I am truly greatly interested in the OS. It seems like a solid system once you get to know the deep foundations of it. The professor has already given us an assignment, but I feel its not fair as its just a bit too much from out of what he taught us .. He did not teach us what he is asking for. He asked us to create to a text file which lists the Sales from two Salespersons, and each one will have an amount for each month .. So 12 entries for each salesperson.
Using that text file, we should write a bash script which would read the values from the above text file, and produce a "Monthly Sales" text file, which shows the total sales of each month (combined from both the salespersons). I would like to ask for some guidance, some help on how to start. It's just that he didn't teach us any commands about this matter.
I know that ImageMagick's convert program can be used as follows to convert a collection of images -- say, in PNG format -- to a PDF file:
convert *png output.pdf
The problem with this is that each image is then stretched to fit on one page, whereas I would like to keep the original dimensions of the images and put as many as possible on one page in the PDF file before moving on to another page.
I want to put a photo slide show in a web page I am creating. What is my best option? Want open source. I know CSS and HTML but am not a programmer. Need something fairly easy to install.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my only hard drive, I have it partitioned for Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11, Earlier today I performed "Shrink Volume" on the Windows partition, successful, opened 22.74GiB I would like to increase my 10GiB Ubuntu 11 Partition to 16GiB, then create a partition for trying out chromium. I know the following discussion I am going to sound like a noob but for simplicity bear with me. When I say "left" I actually mean tracks closest to the center of the cylinder and right, those further away.
sda1 and sda2 are my Windows 7 Partitions, Then I have 22.75GiB of unallocated space from the shrink volume, then sda3 extended, sda5 swap, and sda6 ext4 /. How do I "slide" the swap and Ubuntu 11 ext partitions to the left while maintaining their contents? Am I just as well backing up, then formatting the Ubuntu 11 partition? My first thought was to ghost the Ubuntu partition to the unallocated space then updating grub, but grub did not see it. The following is a screenshot of gparted's view of my HD.
I am just spent half an hour hunting for a thing that should be totally available already:USB install images of Ubuntu, knoppix and all the others.And, the only good way are so far complicated tutorials where you extract the stuff from an CD image. Why??Hasn't everybody notices that CDs/DVDs are vanishing big time? That more and more systems don't have the readers anymore? Instead of following a 10 point instruction list, it would be nice to just be able to download a Ubuntu 8.10 or whatever USB image and be able to beam that DIRECTLY to a USB stick with a dd command.
Or am a missing something here? Does this exist?It should by no means be mariginal, considering how important USB stick in specific and flash memory in general have become.
Any tools to assemble a set of images into a Gnome desktop wallpaper slide show -- like the Cosmos one in the default selection?I can see its a folder with the images and an xml file that controls the "playback". Presumably there is a reasonably easy tool to use to create my own short of reverse engineering the xml files.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi remember back a few years ago you could partition the drive by simply sliding a slider, and now trying to install ubuntu next to xp my dad was unable to set it up. This is a big step back for the design of the partitioner. He was able to set up ubuntu 7.04 on his old computer many years ago when i was not there. He tried to set up 10.04 today and got so frustrated with ubuntu wanting to take most of his drive, that he gave up. why was the "simple slide to set space you where going to give ubuntu" taken away. he just wants to set up the space he didn't want to deal with root, swap space, and so on. he just wanted to set up a block of space that ubuntu can use however it wants. but the partitioner will not let him. this needs to be fixed. the install process must be simple to use by everyone. i do not want my friends and family getting frustrated with installing it. he was excited to try the new ubuntu till he got to dealing with the partitioner and after that he wanted nothing to do with ubuntu. the installer is the first thing they see make that the primary focus of "easy of use".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running SuperOS 10.10, which is based on Ubuntu 10.10. I am fairly new to gnome Ubuntu and never have dealt much with changing themes.I am using the Ambiance theme and like everything about it but the slide bar is white and hard to see. I like the fact that the close, minimize, maximize buttons are on the left side of the window. If I change the theme to clearlooks then the slide bar is blue and easy to see but the close, minimize, maximize buttons are on the right. I went into Ubunty Tweak, window manager settings when in the clearlooks theme and the close, minimize, maximize buttons are set to custom.
If I uncheck the custom button and click left then nothing happens. I would either like to change the color of the slide bar in ambiance theme or change the close, minimize, maximize buttons location in clearlooks theme. It is probably simple to do but I have been going in circles with no change. Can someone point me in the right direction? Nevermind, I will just switch to another distro. This question didn't generate a lot of traffic.
