View 6 RepliesBefore you can just go to sys>prefs>sound
and you can change it there, but in 10.4 it doesn't work that way. how would one go about putting there own custom login sound?
I found a tutorial on it, but there is no menu option under system notifications for KDE events.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not referring to "Gnome Login Sound" I'm referring to the login screen sound. Those 2 drum pats you hear when you start up Ubuntu, before logging in. I was using Macbuntu, and have switched back, however it never changed my login sound back to what it was suppose to be. I knew how to change everything else back, so i didn't just run a script with out knowing how to clean up after it, however this is the only thing I don't know how to do. It keeps looking into the macbuntu folder to get the sounds before i log in. Probably being able to simply set the sound theme in the login screen would fix this issue. I've tried using Ubuntu Tweak, but no such luck. If no one can't find a solution I'll just have to use the other folder from now on >.< However I'm quite certain there's a script somewhere, that I can edit. I just need to know where it's at.

how can i change the login screen on ubuntu 9.10?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 9.10 I can't change my login screen, only edit the auto-login preferences. I have one I'd like to use already, and am unable to figure out how to replace the new login screen with the one I've downloaded. It used to be simpler in 8.10 which is what I used, there was a menu for it under System and Preferences.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI managed to change the background by copying over a new image file to some directory. However, there is still the big boring login window. Is there any way to change that? I'd like something darker, and smaller. I copied over the image file to /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png My image file was actually a jpeg file, but copying it over to /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png posed no problems.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I start my computer, my comp is set to require password everytime I start the computer. I am using Karmic with all the latest updates. One day, from the Login Screen itself, I selected the Power icon at the bottom right and selected Shut Down. But, from next boot, the login drum sound wouldnt play and even the african sound that comes after logging in wouldn't play. The african sound problem was solved when I noticed that my sound was muted by the GDM on shutdown. However, the drum sound still does not come. I think the solution it to change the volume before logging in.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh install of kubuntu 9.10 which only seems to play the start up and shut down noise. Audio from games, flash videos, and other sources do not appear to work.
I've been searching around, and while there seem to be a few threads on this topic, none have solutions. Where should I begin?
I'd like to disable the log-in screen sound. Not after you log on. Since it's my laptop I can't just switch a knob or press the off button. The function keys don't work before log-in.. Well not for sound at least.. I guess you could say it's a bug.. unless it was intended. Anyway, without filling a bug report how can I disable sound @ the login screen?
