View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore you can just go to sys>prefs>sound
and you can change it there, but in 10.4 it doesn't work that way. how would one go about putting there own custom login sound?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an urgent problem! I had some viruses as my program told me and in the end I had to restart my eee pc!Problem is now after it starts and you click on the log me in icon for the netbook it makes the nice hello sound, takes some time and then does the shut down (goodbye) sound. So basically the netbook booted already right? But I cant log myself in! What can I do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm not referring to "Gnome Login Sound" I'm referring to the login screen sound. Those 2 drum pats you hear when you start up Ubuntu, before logging in. I was using Macbuntu, and have switched back, however it never changed my login sound back to what it was suppose to be. I knew how to change everything else back, so i didn't just run a script with out knowing how to clean up after it, however this is the only thing I don't know how to do. It keeps looking into the macbuntu folder to get the sounds before i log in. Probably being able to simply set the sound theme in the login screen would fix this issue. I've tried using Ubuntu Tweak, but no such luck. If no one can't find a solution I'll just have to use the other folder from now on >.< However I'm quite certain there's a script somewhere, that I can edit. I just need to know where it's at.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI hear no login sound when I login to my ubuntu. I checked at startup applications and found GNOME login sound is enabled. The command used there is
Code:
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="GNOME Login"

Its not only this, but there is no other sounds enabled - for mouse clicks etc

I have checked the login sound file IS there and IS playable, i do not understand why the sound works for everything else but not the kde startup sound??

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed the opensuse 11.2 64 bit version on my gateway md2614u.I am having sound problems. There is no sound for the internet (..... was the test) and the amarok audio will not play any mp3 files. The only sound that I can hear is the initial start up noise. Other than that there is no sound.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn case you don't already know, I'm running 11.4 x64 with GNOME. I had a realization recently that my computer doesn't make any login or logoff sounds. After some investigation, I've found there are two problems:
1) The command for the login sound defaults to a sound that doesn't exist; the id is "desktop- login", but no desktop-login.oga exists in /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo. There does exist service-login.oga, however.
2) Even with explicitly setting the path on canberra-gtk-play, no sound plays. The command hangs for a couple seconds and produces no errors, suggesting that it does find the sound, but nothing comes out of the speakers.
I'm not terribly desperate to get login sounds working, but I am confused about why this wouldn't work out of the box.
Somehow an app on this box seems to have disappeared long ago which was configured to start immediatedly with a root login (eg su). Now, whenever upgrading permissions to root or logging (and assuming login as root), an error displays saying "cannot find <application>"
Considering root usually is different than other logins, am not sure where to start looking on an OpenSuSE box. I've tried without success
BASH -v to enable verbose mode before executing a "su."
BASH --debugger to enable debugging mode before executing a "su."
Logout, Login as root and inspect /var/log/ hoping to find some logfile that audits the login sequence, but may be looking at a wrong logfile.
openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4 release 2.I can change the desktop theme and the splash theme, but I can not change the KDM login manager theme.First, I changed th setting /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME from suse to nothing in Yast -> /etc/sysconfig editor in order to get rid of the ugly Suse login theme. That resulted in having the traditional KDM login theme with the clock.I go to Personal Settings -> Advanced tab -> System: Login Manager (I enter the root password). In tab "General" I checked "Use themed greeter". Gui style and color scheme are set to default. In tab "Theme" I select a theme, click apply, then clikc ok.I log out and log in again. Nothing has changed. I still have the oldstyle KDM login theme.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to change the login theme using Personnel Settings Command I get an error window stating: '/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kdm --lang en_US' not found.
I am using openSUSE 11.1 and KDE 4.1.3

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using opensuse 11.3. I am encountering a problem while trying to log in. The problem message was
"could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation"
I tried to solve this problem by following the instructions given in OpenSuSE 11.0 Could not start kdeinit4... i.e., I opened yast2 and then I had to select "software management" from there in order to update all the packages in kde4. But I got another error when I clicked it.
/usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base:/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin/libpy2wfm.so.2)
The error list continues. I cannot type whole error list ending with similar wordings as above as am using different computer. I tried to solve this one too by following the instructions in Relocation Error but I could not understand its line "...fixed the problem by taking /usr/local/lib out of ld.so.conf, and then running ldconfig" as am new to linux.
after software update (124 packages) I cannot change sound volume and I cannot also mute it. Is there any way how to revert the changes or how to repair it?OpenSUSE version: 11.4 64bit
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on openSUSE 11.1 KDE 4.3 RC, and I'm using the kde-branding-openSUSE with KDM from the factory KDE repo, and factory community repo - everything is up-to-date.For some reason my KDM login settings screen is ALL grayed out, so I can't change the theme/settings. I know that you can change it by going to yast and editing the /etc/sysconfig thinghich I actually tried doing, and failing, which is odd because I changed it once a ltime ago to glassified, but can't manage to do now...) I don't want to use a theme, though, but actually use my current wallpaper and set the settings in the login manager to something of my preference.
