i install fedora11 and i want to change login sound i go to >System>Preferences>sound but i can't find the way in sound preference . i ever change in ubuntu but in fedora i can't.in sound preferences box > Application it's tell - no application is currrentry playing or recording audio.i want to know the correct way to chenge login sound . who know please tell me by step

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not referring to "Gnome Login Sound" I'm referring to the login screen sound. Those 2 drum pats you hear when you start up Ubuntu, before logging in. I was using Macbuntu, and have switched back, however it never changed my login sound back to what it was suppose to be. I knew how to change everything else back, so i didn't just run a script with out knowing how to clean up after it, however this is the only thing I don't know how to do. It keeps looking into the macbuntu folder to get the sounds before i log in. Probably being able to simply set the sound theme in the login screen would fix this issue. I've tried using Ubuntu Tweak, but no such luck. If no one can't find a solution I'll just have to use the other folder from now on >.< However I'm quite certain there's a script somewhere, that I can edit. I just need to know where it's at.

follow the instructions in the 'Install' document closely, i found after installing a different package manager called 'Yum Extender' which made things simpler for me, i installed the 'Gnome tweak tool', 'gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme'' and 'gnome-shell-extension-common'', but i also had to install the latest 'Murrine GTK2 engine' for the 'Zukitwo' theme to be recognised in the 'Gnome tweak tool', the location i chose to copy the Zukitwo folders to was.. /home/your username/.theme I'd like to now change just the style of the Fedora 15 login window(as in username/password popup box), but without changing my background wallpaper that being used, i have found a 'login' box style from a website below which i'd like to use.

is changing just this part of the 'login' box style possible without altering the exsisting background, and how might this be done?
I've tried to change the log-in screen on Fedora 15 (gnome3) to have a custom background, however none of the guides I've found have worked - I'm now left with a blue background with no image. They all follow the same instructions as this guide. (I did change the address and PID to my own ones, although the PID was always increasing everytime I typed it) If I type this into the terminal logged in as my user I just get my desktop background changing, although I'm assuming this is correct.

View 3 Replies View Relatedeverytime i use alsamixer command i get only the "Master" volume control, and i see the card its using is "Pulseaudio" so i press f6 to select the sound card and i found that i have "default" and "HDA SIS966" so i wanted to know how can i change that "default" to the HDA SIS966?.i tried pressing f6 and selecting the card but when i close alsamixer and run it again i get the "default" sound card again.
i left some pics, the 1st one is what i get when i run alsamixer, the 2nd is the options i got when i try to change the sound card, and the third is what i get with the card HDA SIS966 which is the one i'm trying to get as my default.
After trying to personalize GDM's login screen, I have been able to change the background (If anyone know how to personalize GDM's login screen, Sometimes when I go on the login screen, I see a gray box without anything on it (I try ALT+CTRL+F# and ALT+CTRL+BACKSPACE) but nothing is shown. How do we go about changing the login page so that it is not a drop down listing all the users? I'm looking to configure the login to be like how RHEL 5 and below is. Where you have to type in the account name, then it prompts for the password. I don't want the system to show a user history.

View 1 Replies View Relatedyesterday I updated my fedora 13 to fedora 14 (on laptop) and today i cannot log in on user. It just go blank for a sec and is back to login.
At text console (alt+ctr+f2/f3) i enter my username and pass it give this for a sec and resets (clean) console

login: no shell permission denied
i used unetbootin (fedora 14 netinstall to update) and later i updated 1,5G before reboot (did update that fix, forgot its name tho :s)
I would most likely reinstall everything, but i have some work at laptop and as death-line is near, i would prefer to fix it if possible.

i have installed F13 on unused space, is there a way for me to access and fix it? or at least get some files from there?
I know I can use alsamixer in a terminal to adjust the sound for various input/outputs. But when I launch the alsamixergui, I only get Master Volume for Pulse Audio, which does me no good (Experienced the audio bug described in this ..... video [URL] how can I change the sound card in the Gui Mixer (S and F6 does nothing).
