How do I get my firefox back to normal? It used to have the orange x and the minimize stuff on the left. Now it has the x black and on the right. I cant figure out how to get it back to normal.
View 5 RepliesI have run powertop to see if I can streamline my system but have one problem, the mouse now seems to go into a sleep state if I don't use it for a few seconds. this is VERY annoying and I have to press the mouse button every time to get it to work again. anyone know how I can restore this back to how it was?

when i do this i am getting this error message

Anyhow after rebooting, the VM only display 8bit and 640x480 for XP... this is really weird. anyone come across this before? i can't seem to figure out a fix to get my display back to normal

So the splash occurs I put user name and password but the system try to enter and later it comes back. I try from CLI, I make startx from command line, the same situation. Sometime the system informs me about a error (a temporary file from /tmp(.X0~ )I must remove, I did but next time it tells me that it can't load one module (it gives me a number).

The only extension that isn't working is FEBE which is incompatible w/ firefox5beta (profile, extension and preference backup). Have to use FEBE beta7 under Firefox4 so I don't think a compatible release for Firefox5beta is going to come out any time soon.

The upgrade to 11.4 was ruined for some reason (only got commandprompt login) and the message that Xorg.0.log couldn't be copied. Decided to install 11.4 from scratch, but since the install my screen flashes every 20 seconds or so to black screen and and after 1 second back to normal. There is no interruption of any other task like typing. Card: FeForce FX5200 card. Can someone please point me to a solution? Also, my monitor (Philips 150S) is not recognized. How can I change that without changing xorg.conf by hand?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 14 and set the screensaver (in System>Preferences on the Gnome GUI) to activate after the computer is idle for 30 minutes. After the screensaver is activated, and a press a key or the mouse, the screen is back to normal -- no problem.After the screensaver has been activated once, however, it comes back on very quickly -- usually in 2 or 3 minutes if the computer is idle. The only way I have found to correct this (and set activation back at 30 minutes again) is to log out and back in again.How can I correct this, and automatically set screensaver activation back at 30 minutes each time the normal screen is reactivated?

The problem is that at seemingly random times the roles of the caps lock and control keys (and the other customisations) gets reverted back to normal - which makes for an awful lot of confusion! Running xmodmap again switches them to how I like it, but again after a seemingly random period it resets itself. This occurs under KDE and Gnome in F13, but did not occur in F12. Using the KDE keyboard settings dialog to switch caps lock and control does the exhibits the same behaviour.
Just this Konqueror issue bothers me really bad. So decide to share it here and see if anyone has a better solution.
Java support is really poor in konqueror.
For example,
1. on webex.com and just try to join a test meeting. It never opens the meeting window however there is no error or any kind prompt.
2. facebook.com, if you try to upload a picture, you have to choose simple uploading tool in konqueror in order to do the job.
Why java can not be made work properly like in firefox and chrome? Is there any critical hurdle that I did not know?
My solution: use konqueror for normal browsing and switch to firefox or chrome for java sites. This bothers, right?
I am stumped. I get random "freezes" for like 20 seconds, then back to normal. Then again the same thing randomly. I thought it was my hard drive...replaced it, reinstalled 9.10 and same issue. Thought it might be the memory...nope!, thought it might be my motherboard, tried to update my bios and it froze and now I can't get in to my bios at all. I bought a new motherboard and did a fresh install of 9.10 and same problem!!! I took my hard drive out and put it in another computer and it ran the same ruling out hardware issues all together.

Now, the back/forward buttons in Firefox have no icons, which means they're hard to find, and they're also much thinner than usual. View 3 Replies View RelatedI was browsing through the Ubuntu Software Center when I came upon Gosa2 2.5.19.1 and thought it might be something to try out. After installation, Firefox seems to have a clean profile. Well I don't want Firefox to have a clean profile; I want to be able to view history from weeks ago.
When I go to Applications>system tools>Gosa, I'm directed to a page that says: "Error 404 Sorry, the requested document could not be found on this server." I've tried uninstalling GOsa, but that doesn't help.
To tell you the truth, I'd be cool to disable GOsa and then get rid of it.
I'm not sure exactly what happened, but starting a few hours ago, every time i open firefox,the settings have all reverted to the default. I change them back to what i prefer, then when i open it again they are back to the default.

Yesterday I installed wine-1.2 (using Synaptic), in order to be able to build programs for Windows. This in itself seemingly succeeded, but as a result of the installation, fonts in Firefox changed (one can say immediately - when the installation was done, the fonts had changed).
For example, in this forum, the non-monospaced font changed in some way I can't put my finger on. Right now, posts feel less readable, but getting used to it may just be a question of time.
Some other pages (in existing tabs, and when looking them up again) changed the font size, some increased the size, some decreased it. This can be fixed by using Ctrl-+ or Ctrl-- quite easily, but <whine> I would like these kind of changes not to happen at all </whine>.
I uninstalled wine (not removed completely - I don't know what the difference is), but this didn't undo the font change.
The font settings within Firefox (Preferences) don't seem to have been changed.
The point of this post is to ask what may have happened, where such dependencies between fonts are stored, and how to undo the change, in case I'd like to.

I have downloaded 3.6 and I can run it from within its directory, but I would like to get back to all of the nice desktop integration and Im not sure exactly what I did wrong in the 1st place..Reinstallation in Yast does NOT fix the issue and I have had the same issue with a few other packages.. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm within Firefox and start playing ..... movies Firefox crashes. Thats not the worst of it however; the process locks up the whole system and I have to reboot. I attempt the kill it with now luck. Killing the PPID doesn't help because it got to 1. I even looked a pstree to kill parent processes without any luck. I'm like WTF. Firefox crushes with the "ZL" in the line when running the ps command also. I'm going to uninstall Adobe flash and reinstall it to see if that helps at all. This is the only time I have every had this type of issue.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Sabayon Linux, and recently when through a major upgrade where a lot of packages were upgraded.
After the upgrade, when launching firefox, the back and forward icons are missing. The buttons are actually there, as I can still select an empty grey rectangle. I also checked and it's happening for all users on the system.
I was using the persona's theme, but I stopped using that (for performance reasons). I just disabled it, I haven't actually removed it.
I tried re-installing gnome-icon-theme package from a suggestion on another linuxquestions.org thread, but that didn't help.
It's not a big deal as I can still use the buttons, but curious if anyone has any insight into what I can do to get the icons back.
