I've installed 11.04 as an upgrade to 10.10. Now, the back/forward buttons in Firefox have no icons, which means they're hard to find, and they're also much thinner than usual. Also, the home button has disappeared and I can't put it back from the customize menu. I've reinstalled Firefox to no avail.
I got sick to DEATH of Adobe AIR and TweetDeck screwing up constantly, and then Adobe announces there will be no more Adobe AIR for Linux. Fine, screw 'em, I'll switch to something else. So I hunt around for the options, most of which suck. Then I discover Choqok is already installed on my machine (11.4). Except the POS doesn't work.
To use it, I have to authenticate with my Twitter account. So I click Add, select Twitter, it pops up the dialog. I leave the alias as Twitter, click the authenticate with Twitter button. The Firefox icon pops up and bounces around - but Firefox is already running. So nothing happens! No Twitter access, no page loaded, nothing. I shut down Firefox, try it again. Same deal. As usual, no one bothered to test this POS software before releasing it. how to get this **** to authenticate to Twitter in the absence of ANY useful documentation for this junk?
i have noticed that if vista is not the active partition, hybernate does not work. it just goes black and then back to the user icon screen to log back in. another "slight" problem was that i was not able to apply a service pack. after restoring vistas dominance i was able to install the pack. is there any other work arounds for hybernate? even though you might not be interested in cleaning up after microsoft.
Is anyone else seeing the default icon in GNOME Shell instead of the usual Firefox icon? I am talking about the default icon that looks like a purple diamond.
I've lost my shutdown button. I think it disappeared after an update of which there were quite a few lately. I have been using ctrl Alt Del. Is that safe to use? How do I get that button back?
My power button icon on the toolbar in Unity is invisible -- that is, it occupies the far right-most column of pixels and displays no icon. (See attached screenshot -- the power button menu only comes up with the mouse all the way to the far right (where you can't really see it in the screencap.)).Any idea how to get it back? It's not a big deal, but it'd be nice to avoid being made fun of by my OS X/Wind0ze-using friends for having an invisible power button.I have Natty installed, but using the same /home (and thus the same config files) from previous installs. Might that be the problem?
I have been trying out several newcomer browsers (using webkit) as alternatives to Firefox, which seems increasingly slow to me.Midori and Arora both allow the back button of my mouse to work, as does Firefox. However, Epiphany, which would be my first choice, does not, and I can't find any way whatsoever of configuring it to do so.I can't see why such a 'flagship' app should lack such an essential feature.
That's it, suddenly I find out that theres no shut down button, any ideas how can I get it back? I'm running ubuntu 10.10 and it happened before the update with lucid, I thought that updating would help but obviously i didn't.
How do i roll back firefox5beta to firefox4 and keep updating to the latest stable releases w/out upgrading to beta? The only extension that isn't working is FEBE which is incompatible w/ firefox5beta (profile, extension and preference backup). Have to use FEBE beta7 under Firefox4 so I don't think a compatible release for Firefox5beta is going to come out any time soon.
why these buttons would not work in opera but work in nautilus and firefox? I've tried to change the mouse settings in opera and nothing works. thoughts?
I accidentally deleted my compiz fusion Icon from my top panel and now I can't seem to get it back. Before 10.04 I could just run Applications/System tools/ Compiz fusion icon and it would appear in my panel. This doesn't work any more! when I run "fusion-icon --no-start" in terminal I get
* Detected Session: unknown * Searching for installed applications... * NVIDIA on Xorg detected, exporting: __GL_YIELD=NOTHING * Using the GTK Interface * Decorator "/usr/bin/compiz-decorator" is invalid. * Setting decorator to Emerald ("emerald --replace")
I was working over ubuntu 10.04 and while updating packages for my own purpose i needed to delete older versions of some packages. Unknowingly i deleted some packages it caused me to remove icons like rythmic sound box, video player, audio recorder and some more. Among those REMOTE DESKTOP icon also got removed from preferences. please suggest me how to get back those all into preferences. Is there any updates like making system to getback for default state

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook. Even though the bluetooth light is on on the machine itself, the bluetooth icon at the top of the screen has been greyed out. Now, after trying to fix the problem, the icon has disappeared altogether. Before the icon disappeared, while the icon was greyed out, I was unable to enable it. If I clicked on the greyed-out icon, it told me bluetooth was on but disabled. Now I need to know how to get the icon back and to enable bluetooth.
I have a machine running Ubuntu 10.04 and I accidentally removed the Rhythmbox icon in the notification area by right clicking it and I think I must have selected remove or something.
The problem is I cannot seem to get it back and it is enabled under the Plugins section of Rhythmbox.
Recently I removed uninstalled evolution and gwibber from lucid and removed the envelope icon from the top panel too. But along with it the volume icon also disappeared. How do I get the volume icon back?
I just installed the latest pidgin and pidgin-facebook-chat packages on Ubuntu 11.04 and I noticed that Facebook contacts are now treated as Jabber/XMPP contacts. Before today, I could easily distinguish which protocol my contacts were on, but this is no longer the case.Does anyone have any idea on how to set the protocol icon back to Facebook's logo?
I upgraded to F13 this week. And autologin just sits with autologin present, but I have to click the autologin (rather than a user name) and then click again to actually login. That's not so "auto" anymore if I can't push the power button and come back in x minutes with everything and running.
I had this in my /etc/gdm/custom.conf TimedLoginEnable=true TimedLogin=marty TimedLoginDelay=8 What changed and what do I need to do now to get autologin to get off it's ass and log me in?
Well, I had recently removed every single file regarding banshee, and when I reinstalled it, the tray icon turned into this (I pressume I removed the tray icon as well and it didn't "return after" reinstalling banshee): How can I fix this and bring the tray icon back? I've tried reinstalling it, even installing newer (sometimes unstable) versions, and it didn't work.
