Nov 5, 2010Not sure if I need anything but when a pogo game starts to load, it stops and I get an error message "script stopped running" Haven't been able to use pogo.

Ubuntu :: 10.10 Booting Stopped - Getting Error Message
Mar 2, 2011I have Ubuntu 10.10 and when I boot my PC I can see the following message: Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode and Ubuntu stops booting. I can-t boot in it I can only use command line. I think I accidentally uninstalled some packages clicking at completely removal at some ipod utilities in synaptic.

In the torrents that do no get downloaded, I get an error message Tracker responded: Unknown error (0) in the info window, tracker tab. But there are torrents with the same tracker that don'thave a problem and get downloaded fineThe logs don't give a clue about whats wrong either.I tried downloading those torrents with Vuze and I had the same problem. What could be wrong?

Jul 9, 2011After a momentary power failure My server did not reboot due to a disk error. I rebooted and ran an disk repair and the machine booted fine. Now if I got to the update manager and try to update I get the following error:
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid-updates_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
I checked the file location listed the file is there (hidden). Should it be a hidden file? If so how do I repair this error? I went to the preferences of update manager and changed the following, Updates every 2 days from weekly, Changed the server location from US server to main server. The update manager ran and updated 13 files. I don't know what change repaired my issue but a guess is, changing the download location from the US server to the Main server.

No error when I'm not root. So it's only when I become root and run gedit in terminal I get errors, why?

Dec 28, 2010Why is it when I run gedit, there are always tonnes of error or warning messages? (Even though my gedit ran successfully)
To name a few:
1. GConf error: failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you ned to enable TCP/IP networking for 0 RBit, or you have stale NFS lockes due to a system crash.
2. Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply among others.
Just to mention again my gedit is running fine though. Is there any configuration that I missed out? or I can disable to avoid these nuisance?

Hardware :: Nvidia GeForce 9600gt - Error Message About Running In Low Graphics Mode
Mar 15, 2010So I've searched across these forums and haven't quite found the same problem I'm having. For the record, I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 So I built my new box, and my video card is a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 9600GT (GIGABYTE GV-N96TZL-1GI). I go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers to install the drivers so I can use those fancy 3D effects. It tells me I need to restart, so I do.
When it comes up though, I get an error message about running in low graphics mode, the top 5th of my screen is blacked out, and the screen has been shifted so that the left boundary is in the middle, and the right boundary goes off the screen and back to the left side. It goes back to working fine (but without the fancy 3D effects) when I remove the drivers. Both drivers in the hardware drivers (185 and 173) have this problem. I'd post log files and such, but I'm at work right now.

May 16, 2010Not sure exactly when this happened.I noticed (and posted here) several days ago that notification SOUNDS had stopped working but now the indicator isn't working at all with evolution.I get pop-up OSD notification things saying I have a new message but the indicator doesn't change to green and there is no entry for new messages or message counter in the menu, though the arrow is there to indicate evolution is running.

The jobs last ran on 5/31/11 at 7:35am. Since then none of the jobs have run.

Ubuntu :: Keyboard Hotkeys Stopped Working While Running VLC
Feb 9, 2010i first noticed it while running VLC when at least one of my keyboard hotkeys stopped working. I tried reassigning the key and then reinstalling the packages from SPM and it failed (using kow's ppa) then i did a clean uninstall and reinstall from A/R programs, which didnt fix anything. then later i had problems typing in firefox, specifically with the number pad (the hotkey i'm referring to is also part of the number pad) something makes me think it's my keyboard or keyboard driver, i've been keeping up with the updates for Jaunty, including the most recent kernel update.

Jan 14, 2011When I opened Quicken this morning I saw that WINE did some kind of update; now Quicken cannot open files. The program seems to start normally but when I try to open a file it locks up. I see that Freecell runs normally but of course it doesn't access any data files.

Oct 31, 2010First off, I am still using 10.04. This hasn't happened to me until now. I was in Vista (I have vista on another partition) doing some things in Photoshop, and I saved it, and done. I restarted to go back into ubuntu and when it was booting it gave me a message saying:
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode. Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself.
If I click OK (there are no other options) it takes me to a screen asking, "What would you like to do?" The options are:
Run Ubuntu in low-graphics mode for just one session
Reconfigure graphics
Troubleshoot the error
Exit to console login
Restart X
Ubuntu :: GRUB Loading Error - Laptop Dead - Stuck At Error Message
Feb 21, 2010I been running both OS's for a few months now with no major problems besides wireless internet issues. Today, however, as I go to boot my laptop up, the Dell logo loads with the F2 and F12 boot and setup options which both work. Directly after that though I get the message "GRUB loading. Symbol '?' not found. Aborted. Press any key to Exit." then it repeats when I push a key, and then it tells me to press F1 to retry, F2 to go to setup, or F5 to run diagnostics. It passes all the tests in diagnostics. I've tried booting off of the ubuntu cd I used to load it initially with no luck. So I'm stuck at either that error message or in setup but I can't go any further, and it does not change anything when I tried to boot from the cd.

Fedora :: Printer Queue Shows Stopped Status For Job Running F14
Jun 15, 2011My elderly HP Laserjet 4P has worked well for over 15 years. I have it connected to the home network via a Trendnet TE100-P21 Print Server, and setup has always been straightforward and easy. The whole setup has worked quite well with Fedora 9 or 10 thru 14, but then stopped working within the last couple of weeks. I'm assuming an update broke something, as I can find no other reason. When I send a print job or test page, I get a Print Error dialog. The print que shows a "stopped" status for the job. In the Error dialog I use the Diagnose button and step through until I get the Status Messages dialog, which informs me: "The printer's state message is: 'Data file sent successfully'".
Then I enable debugging and send a test page. Stepping through the dialogs it tells me it cannot detect a problem, and gives me an error log, which I've attached. The Trendnet server has a web admin interface. In that interface I can send a test page successfully. Also, I can open a VirtualBox (Windows XP) in Fedora 14, and successfully print from it. My print setup in Fedora is the same as it has been for several years now, and nothing has changed on that end. I have rebooted Fedora and the Trendnet server. All other computers/OS's on the network have no problem printing, only this Fedora 14, and only recently.

Nov 24, 2010I'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?
