I am running a mentor graphics tool which used java-jre. Every time I try to invoke the tool I get the following error message
From the error message I thought gcc_4.2.0 is not installed in my system. I went to synaptic package manager and installed gcc_4.2, but I still get this error.
So I've searched across these forums and haven't quite found the same problem I'm having. For the record, I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 So I built my new box, and my video card is a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 9600GT (GIGABYTE GV-N96TZL-1GI). I go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers to install the drivers so I can use those fancy 3D effects. It tells me I need to restart, so I do.
When it comes up though, I get an error message about running in low graphics mode, the top 5th of my screen is blacked out, and the screen has been shifted so that the left boundary is in the middle, and the right boundary goes off the screen and back to the left side. It goes back to working fine (but without the fancy 3D effects) when I remove the drivers. Both drivers in the hardware drivers (185 and 173) have this problem. I'd post log files and such, but I'm at work right now.
First off, I am still using 10.04. This hasn't happened to me until now. I was in Vista (I have vista on another partition) doing some things in Photoshop, and I saved it, and done. I restarted to go back into ubuntu and when it was booting it gave me a message saying:
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode. Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself.
If I click OK (there are no other options) it takes me to a screen asking, "What would you like to do?" The options are:
Run Ubuntu in low-graphics mode for just one session
Reconfigure graphics
Troubleshoot the error
Exit to console login
Restart X
I want to test my netbeans project, whether it is Vulnerable to any attacks. So I have browsed for testing tools. I found this tool Coberturs-1.9.3. I have downloaded this tool and extracted and tried to run this tool. But I am facing all these problems as mentioned below.

After a momentary power failure My server did not reboot due to a disk error. I rebooted and ran an disk repair and the machine booted fine. Now if I got to the update manager and try to update I get the following error:

I checked the file location listed the file is there (hidden). Should it be a hidden file? If so how do I repair this error? I went to the preferences of update manager and changed the following, Updates every 2 days from weekly, Changed the server location from US server to main server. The update manager ran and updated 13 files. I don't know what change repaired my issue but a guess is, changing the download location from the US server to the Main server.

No error when I'm not root. So it's only when I become root and run gedit in terminal I get errors, why?
Why is it when I run gedit, there are always tonnes of error or warning messages? (Even though my gedit ran successfully)
To name a few:
1. GConf error: failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you ned to enable TCP/IP networking for 0 RBit, or you have stale NFS lockes due to a system crash.
2. Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply among others.
Just to mention again my gedit is running fine though. Is there any configuration that I missed out? or I can disable to avoid these nuisance?
I just installed Ubuntu10.10 (i had 9.10 before that). I am trying to run VisualVM (which was already installed) and i get the following error "You are running VisualVM using Java Runtime Envoronment (JRE). Please use Java Development Kit (JDK) to run VisualVM"
I have Sun JDK installed. How do I instruvt VisualVM to use the JDK?
I have gotten an error message to please check that the dcopserver program is running.Where do I look to see if it is running?

I get the error when booting "ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode"(EE) Failed to load module "1810" (module does not exist, 0)(EE) config/hal: couldn't initialize context:unknown error (null)This happened after updating unbuntu and an error happened while updating. I don't recall what the error was. I cannot run ubuntu in low graphics mode, it goes to black screen and nothing happens.

That's the error I get. When trying to run a java app with the firefox plugin, the browser simply crashes if it's the 64bit java or tells me it's not installed if it's the 32bit version.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think it has something to do with leftover gunk from a previous version I misinstalled(Is that even a word?) Anyway, the only thing that google could come up with was a solution for windows which laid blame on Bill Gates for having a bunch of pf (java prefetch) files stuffed into c:windows for no apparent reason. The solution was to delete them, but I can't seem to find the java prefetch folder in linux. The method I used is downloading the rpm from java.com the rpm2tgz then installpkg then cp libnpjp2.so to firefox plugins folder.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10) user.Everytime I start Ubuntu up, before the login screen, I get a message that there's something wrong with the graphics or videocard, telling me that I'd have to run Ubuntu in low-resolution. Okay, fine, log-in screen, I log in. The wallpaper loads. That's all that loads. No panels at all, no desktop icons, nothing. Alt + F2 doesn't work and I strongly fear that I'd have to reinstall Ubuntu, and that's a great loss to all my files. I currently can't afford external memory and I don't have external memory in possession.

My friend asked me to look at their laptop as it was not booting up. I checked it and found that you could not even boot into safe mode. I have used a windows boot disk to try and sort any issues but this has not worked. The problem is he never made the recovery disks by the manufacturer so I cant reinstall windows. I can access all the files on the hard drive when running Ubuntu. So what I need to know is it possible to run the manufacturers program to make the recovery disks from Ubuntu.

It has a command-line tool X that takes an input file + some control parameters, performs some processing and generates some input files. I have a Windows XP/Server 2003 box where an app Y is running. What I need to do is to control X from Y. That is, given an input file, I have to feed this file from Y to X, have X process the file and then Y collect the results. Y would be running either on the host Windows machine using VM Player or on a separate box. Input files might be quite large. I need a solution that would be of production level quality. What would be the best approach to this? I presume I will need to develop some components both on the Windows side and the Linux side that would communicate with each other, send input and output files etc. What would these components be? The VM has a Redhat Enterprise install, so I have access to gcc, but not sure which other development tools.

Upon starting it from prompt I noticed the following error : libv4lconvert: Error decompressing JPEG: fill_nbits error: need 2 more bits The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.

I checked in Skype and there the webcam is working fine. I tried with Camorama but that always gives an error "Could not connect to /dev/video0, please check connections."
I use openSUSE 11.4 64 bits, KDE and FireFox 5.0. I regularly update. When trying to reach my bank, I get the following error: Code: icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk/jre/bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. Is there anything I can do to remediate ? Does IcedTea everything that Java does?

My additional driver for nvidia are also activated but it seems they are not working... i cannot even see the new 11.04 theme and unity is also not working.. Desktop looks like as if my using 10.04 version of ubuntu..Ubuntu is not working with its full graphics on.

I just done a brand new install of fed12 and did all the yum updates. Apache seems to start ok and I always liked the http config tool but it won't run on Fedora 12. I downloaded and installed system-config-httpd.noarch 5:1.4.6-1.fc12 and it all went fine but when I try to start it I get the usual box asking for my root password, I type it in and press enter, the box disappears and then....nothing. If I run system-config-httpd in a terminal I get the same box asking for root passowrd but when I enter it I get a long scroll of text which ends with:

I don't know what causes this. Is there any way to get the http config tool working?
I just did an upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04 and i'm loving it. I just need to get Java working so I can use ..... and stuff like that. I installed OpenJDK and the plugin but I can't figure out how to get it to work in Google Chrome or even Firefox.
