May 21, 2011Ok yesterday I had a problem where I tried to install some Emerald themes on Xubuntu 11.04. It did not work and in the process, all of my Windows Decoration was gone, the Maximize and Minimize buttons at the top of each windows were gone, as shown in the picture attached. I am done with emerald, I uninstalled, I just want my top windows bars back. I found a command for the terminal that fixed it, but when I turned my PC on this morning, the bars were gone again, and I had to reenter that command again. The command it 'xfwm4 --display=:0.0 --replace' that brings them back. Is there a way for my computer to automatically do that command or is there another permanent solution?

Jun 10, 2010I have instaled compiz fusion and emerald. I understand through research that there is a bug in Emerald that requires the use of terminal to activate a new theme specifically typing the following text at the command line: emerald --replace.
When I do this the theme changes. However when I close the terminal it reverts back to the gnome default theme. What do I need to do to keep the Emerald theme changes. Previously I added the following to the start preferences: fusion-icon --no-start

Aug 25, 2010Since of late "Appearance preference" behaves awkwardly . Normaly It is supposed to show themes in /usr/share/themes right? but now it shows themes only in ~/.themes folder. I don't know what affected the change. how do I configure it as to show themes in /usr/share/themes/,?
Also whatever theme I use , Controls would stay same(Classic controls). They wouldn't be update to those of the Theme used.

May 2, 2011I just upgraded my Ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 and can't use it normally after getting in desktop, not after a struggle to switch to switch the desktop to gnome. Plus, even in gnome, the emerald can't start as well, it says "stack error" when I run "sudo emerald --replace".

Okay, I don't think any of that would have hurt anything. Well then I was messing around and I created a shutdown launcher using the command

I engaged the launcher to see what it would do and it caused a rather violent shutdown. When I turned my computer back on my emerald theme was gone and I can't seem to get it going again.
