I was wondering what is happening with emerald-compiz in openSUSE ? I went to openSUSE download and all the packages for emerald-compiz aren't available. Are they still maintained ?
My plan is to slowly switch over to this Distro rather than use Gnome 3 or Unity, but I'm not as familiar with Debian. I've gotten everything working (including Compiz) except that I can't find Emerald anywhere? Is it possible to install Emerald in Debian Squeeze? If so, is there a PPA or repository?
I'm not sure about anybody else, but I have spent many hours today trying to figure out how to get Compiz as a window manager. Alas, I have tasted success. Once compiz and Emerald are both installed, simply go to Code:Configure Desktop > Default Applications > Window Management and then select from the drop down menu. Now those beautiful emerald themes will work. I have seen many other 'solutions' for KDE4 and they may have worked for some, but not for me. I hope this will help somebody who may be as frustrated as I was.
Sorry for this question. But where lost Repository Compiz Fusion, Emerald? Index of /repositories/X11:/XGL:The day before yesterday I had access to this repository. Where has he gone?
I got the serious problem after update my opensuse 11.2, after update the message appeared and said restart my machine to updates take effect and after restart system doesn't boot GUI workspace it boot into text like space named "Emerald - Kernel 2.6.31.8.0.1 - desktop (tty1)".What can I do to boot my machine into GUI again?
I use Ubuntu 10.04 and I have compiz installed and also emerad. Currently I have the theme Ambiance and I want to change it to another theme that use emralld, but the problem is nothing change.
I can't seem to be able to run Emerald at startup. I tried to use "emerald --replace" (without quotations) on Startup Applications and when I logged off then back on, it won't work. It only works when I press Alt+F2 then type emerald --replace. I
I want to theme my Ubuntu. I have heard that Emerald is good for this, but I just don't understand how to use it. There is a theme there already called "Beryl Red" (I assume it's a default), but there is no button to install or use it.
I just upgraded my Ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 and can't use it normally after getting in desktop, not after a struggle to switch to switch the desktop to gnome. Plus, even in gnome, the emerald can't start as well, it says "stack error" when I run "sudo emerald --replace".
i just installed ubuntu 11.04. now i want install emerald in my comp but as it is a dead project its not competible but i found a guide on google. to compile the emerlad.
its been years since I've compile anything so at a loss at what to do next. Emerald keeps giving me errors during "make": I've installed all deps listed here: [URL]
This is what I end up with:
make all-recursive make[1]: Entering directory `/home/qwe/emerald' Making all in libengine make[2]: Entering directory `/home/qwe/emerald/libengine'
Okay, I don't think any of that would have hurt anything. Well then I was messing around and I created a shutdown launcher using the command
Code: sudo shutdown -h now
I engaged the launcher to see what it would do and it caused a rather violent shutdown. When I turned my computer back on my emerald theme was gone and I can't seem to get it going again.
[URL]I had this emerald theme not two days ago, and now I cant find it again for the life of me, I am 99% sure I got it on gnome-look but i've been searching for quite a while and just cant find it again anywhere.
I just did a clean install with Lucid and I can not seem to get Emerald to keep the theme when booting up. I have to keep pressing Alt-F2 then type...
Code: emerald --replace I had changed the settings last time and when I booted up, emerald stayed the same. I'm not sure how I changed them, I forgot. I know I did something with... Code: gconf-editor /apps/metacity
...but I don't remember what I did and I can't seem to find the web site that showed me how. How can I keep the themes when booting up and not have to manually do it everytime I boot up?
trying a different title... If I can't get satisfaction, then I'll give it a rest.1.) Installed Xubuntu 11.042.) Installed Compiz, Fusion, CCSM, & Emerald.3.) Compiz works.4.) Emerald doesn't.5.) Using Fusion to set the WM or typing [emerald --replace] (in CCSM) doesn't work. Xubuntu seems unwilling to cooperate with any WM if it's not XFWM.Has anyone here gotten Emerald to work in Xubuntu 11.04?
Ok yesterday I had a problem where I tried to install some Emerald themes on Xubuntu 11.04. It did not work and in the process, all of my Windows Decoration was gone, the Maximize and Minimize buttons at the top of each windows were gone, as shown in the picture attached. I am done with emerald, I uninstalled, I just want my top windows bars back. I found a command for the terminal that fixed it, but when I turned my PC on this morning, the bars were gone again, and I had to reenter that command again. The command it 'xfwm4 --display=:0.0 --replace' that brings them back. Is there a way for my computer to automatically do that command or is there another permanent solution?
I use Compiz, on Ubuntu 10.04, and notice that Emerald sometimes fails to load at login, leaving all apps window-less, and I have to do an Alt+F2 and "emerald --replace" to bring it back..Any ideas what can cause this? I like to keep my UI looking nice, and that's why I use those utilieis, they run fast on my setup
I have compiz and emerald installed and all the settings that need to be set in the ccsm for emerald to work I opened up emerald theme manager and selected a theme, but when I run emerald --replace from a command prompt nothing happens, not sure if that's the right then to do to get it to load, but I can't really find any info when I google it.
I have Ubuntu 11.04 installed on my laptop. I've installed Compiz and Emerald, and I am trying use Emerald to change the themes. I open Emerald, import a theme, and select it. Nothing happens. I've searched on Google, and people have said to type "emerald --replace". This is what I get when I try it:Code:colin@TheDarkSideOfTheMoon:~$ emerald --replace Segmentation faultThen the top bar on all my windows disappears. I've reinstalled it multiple times, but it still won't cooperate
Is there any way to make emerald apply to Songbird? I've got all my maximize-minimize-close buttons on the left side of the windows now, only Songbird refuses to adapt to the new style.
emerald theme wont enable. i ran emerald --replace in terminal nothing i replaced command in compiz nothing i added emerald as a start up nothing. right now there are no window borders. window decorations are enabled. what am i missing?
i recently watched Die Hard 4.0 and liked the look of his theme; this lead me to download it from some website.. it's a .emerald - so i went into Ubuntu Software Center and i found it, but there was no install button.. and after poking around on here, and using terminal alot. i still havent got it.
I just upgraded to 10.04 (actually had to dl 10.04 iso and do full install, upgrading from 9.10 crashed). I am trying to use "Emerald Theme Manager" (which is a pain aside from the problem I am having) When I click on a theme I dl'd and installed, E.T.M. just vanishes, the theme does not switch and I am done. It takes about 1 second after clicking the theme and then gone, no error message or error reporting message
After switching to 10.04 (fresh install) I can't adjust emerald themes. In emerald settings manager I used to click on desired theme, edit it and save under a new name, then delete old one. Weird, but working. Now, when I click on theme in the list, it sets this theme and quits. I didn't find a way to adjust theme settings.
In the Emerald Themer, I'm able to apply a theme, but only the title bar changes. The rest of the window remains the theme the themes of 'right click > Change Desktop Background > Theme Tab'. (Yes, I have tried the emerald --replace thing)In short, the theme of the window is kinda half-and-half between Emerald and GTK. Screens attached.(Screen shot 1 is illustrating a emerald theme, with matching gtk theme, screen 2 is showing the same emerald theme, but this time with a different GTK theme. Also, ignore the odd look of the images, it's a twinview setup with screen one zoomed in)
