Is there any way to make emerald apply to Songbird? I've got all my maximize-minimize-close buttons on the left side of the windows now, only Songbird refuses to adapt to the new style.
My plan is to slowly switch over to this Distro rather than use Gnome 3 or Unity, but I'm not as familiar with Debian. I've gotten everything working (including Compiz) except that I can't find Emerald anywhere? Is it possible to install Emerald in Debian Squeeze? If so, is there a PPA or repository?
I'm wanting to use some Emerald themes. I start the compiz icon and do the settings then when i restart the settings don't stick. Does anyone know how to make them permanent?
I really like listening to music, and Rhythmbox is okay, but I've been looking up various other Music players for Ubuntu, and many users have a lot to say about Songbird. However, can't figure out how to install it, or if it's even possible now?
I'm well aware of Songbird no longer being supported for Linux but I know there is .deb package out there somewhere. Hopefully in the latest release for Linux as well. 've searched but have found nothing. The thing is, I can't find anything 'I like' other than Songbird. It's such a shame its no longer supported.
I know, Songbird does not currently support Linux... I got the x64 .deb file off this website (http://skyzim.com/songbird-1-4-3-installer/) and installed it without issue. I got it up and running then screwed something up with the graphics and needed to reinstall. Now when I get the same file off the website, install it, then try to run I get an error "GLib-ERROR **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.24.1/glib/gmem.c:157: failed to allocate 14145530384 bytes". I tried doing a sudo apt-get remove libvisual-0.4-plugins as was recommended elsewhere to no avail. Anyone know how to get songbird up and running again? I did a "Removal" through synaptic to uninstall the first time, perhaps that is an issue?
I got Songbird 1.2(stable) and extracted it in a dir "Songbird".

I clicked "ok" and "continue" in orther windows. The result is that it worked but so convinence. Any body tell me the way to fix it. I want to know how to install it correctly and bring it to my desktop....
I love using linux. The main reason I use windows is because of my huge music collection and the lack of good programs to sort and open my music. There are a few apps nowadays that work good. The one I want to use is Songbird. I went to Ubuntu for about a week because all that stuff seemed to work good with it, but i couldnt configure my system as i wanted so i went back to slackware. Now I cant get these fancy media players to work. Songbird seems to want GNOME to work. Slackware 13 does not come with GNOME...
I am running 9.04 and would like to get the newest version of Songbird. I don't want to upgrade just yet it that is needed so are there are other ways of doing so? If no one knows how to find .deb packages could they let me know how i could install the .tar.gz format offered on the website?
I've been having problems with the Songbird client that we normally download from repositories. It is slow, unstable, and crashes a lot. So I finally figured out that if you download the latest developer version, it is fast, stable, and hasnt crashed yet! The only downside is not all plugins are compatible, but it is still awesome to use, its my favorite audio player in Ubuntu. [URL]
I installed all the codecs (Rhythmbox plays the files fine) - GStreamer good, bad and ugly Tried this link but when i open the SH file it was blank, alright i enter the code, save it and try run it in terminal
Has anyone gotten Songbird to play m4a files in Slackware? Is so, 'fess up! Songbird forums say this is possible in Linux with the right codec yet most in the forums, including me, fail. (There's also a plugin that doesn't work in linux.) All my other players handle m4a fine in Slackware 13, so I know I've got the proper codec.
I recently installed the newest version of Songbird, it worked for two days. Now when I click Songbird, it tells me it's starting down in the Window List, but it never pops up. I've tried all three methods from here to install it afterwards... none of them I got to work. Anyone have a clue what could possibly going on? This is on Ubuntu 9.10(32bit)
I have recently switched from Banshee to Songbird, and am loving it. Especially now that there is a ppa for it, which I just discovered. However, i have tried to download an addon and a theme, and apparently it just told me to restart after installing, but it doesn't show up when I go to View>Feathers. It just shows the default theme, Gonzo. Has anyone had this problem, or knows how to fix it?
is there a way to make it work with .ape files? i try to open ape files and it will open instead a prompt window in songbird asking which program to open the file with.
I got a problem with my Songbird (1.4.3) on a Fedora 12 64 bit. When I play music and the first song is over, the song changes but the little loudspeaker symbol in the list, that displays the currently playing song, doesn't move to this song. It just stays on the first played one and also the title of the first one is displayed above the progress bar. But that's not all, when the song should change again (from second to third song), it won't do so. The second played song starts again and will be repeated again and again and Meanwhile the mentioned symbol just stays in front of the first song. Only if I press the "next" button two times the third song will be played. So I got to press "next" two times after every two songs. That makes listening to music nearly impossible. The problem occurred after installing a lot of updates (I had no fast internet connection for months so I now had to install all at once), so it is difficult to say which package causes the issue. Before that Songbird worked all fine for months. I would be glad to provide further information, but neither running songbird in terminal, nor the songbird error console shows up any error related to this behaviour. I also tried to delete the .songbird2 folder in my userhome, but it made no difference at all. Normally i would get the latest verion of the software at first, but since songbird dropped linux support, there is no newer linux version than the one installed on my system.
I'm install songbird from here :[URL].. I install this version because the latest version is so purple.everything is OK except the fact that I cant play my whole song in the library nor playlist, only able to play back & forth current song and the next one. I'm already try the new version though.. the problem stay.
Just installed songbird 1.4.3 on mandriva. Everytime I manually change a song, the volume turns up. So I always have to turn down the volume, so that it wont be to loud. This does not happen when songbird automatically change song, after one is done playing.
I really am a great fan of Songbird, but there's one thing that keeps annoying me: searching my music collection. I have about 12k songs (67GB) in my library, and using the search bar is pretty much a disaster: whatever I type it takes ages to come up with something, and if I delete any of the written to enter something new it hangs for like five minutes. This sort of forced me to look for specific songs myself or just keep it going on shuffle, none of which is a good solution. I believe the problem is that songbird searches after every single typed character instead of waiting until I'm finished, which is a cool feature with smaller amounts of data to look through, but in my case it's just annoying and pointless. How to disable this feature? I am using Songbird 1.2.0, Build 1146.
My Rythmbox and SongBird when I click a mp3 the fan goes into over drive and the mp3 song play timer goes up in three's and doesn't play any audio. But I can play the mp3 files in Audacious.
I have gstreamer installed and I can do gstreamer-properties and its setup right for alsa. Whats going on with Songbird and Rythmbox?
I use Ubuntu 10.04 and I have compiz installed and also emerad. Currently I have the theme Ambiance and I want to change it to another theme that use emralld, but the problem is nothing change.
I can't seem to be able to run Emerald at startup. I tried to use "emerald --replace" (without quotations) on Startup Applications and when I logged off then back on, it won't work. It only works when I press Alt+F2 then type emerald --replace. I
