How should I enable USB device in VirtualBox? I tried to add devices in Setting-->USB of VirtualBox. But still cannot add any yet. I can see those I added, but grey that I cannot check. I'm running Windows XP by VirtualBox under Ubuntu 9.10.
View 13 RepliesFor those that use Virtualbox on their slackware host and have a windows (xp) guest running. I have tried various settings for sound (Alsa, PulseAudio), the AC97 drivers are installed in the Windows xp guest os, but there is no sound and there is an unknown audio device (in the windows device manager). If I remove the AC97 drivers and use the soundblaster16 drivers in the Vbox settings there is no unknown sound device, but there's still no sound. why I can't get sound working?

However when I try to start the machine what I see is a mere black screen... The boot order is fine. However it seems strange that no data is read from the virtual hard drive (which is about 2.15 GB):

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running Lucid Lynx kernel 2.6.32.24. Soon after the latest kernel update I noticed that Virtualbox would not launch when I clicked on the icon. I have searched the Internet for days, tried numerous possible fixes, over hours of effort, but can't get it working at all. Ubuntu Lucid runs great!! There are no errors just a few blinks of the hard drive indicator and nothing. Is there anyone out there that has seen this same issue?

I tried to find the file usbfs and there is where get stuck already. I only can find a folder with that name. The sentence (3 -) makes almost no sense to me.

b) inserting a line yes I understand that!
c) the right path and the number corresponding the "usb" group :

2 - locate file usbfs: in my case is /sys/bus/usb/drivers (I suggest to find the file with a usb device inserted;

I've got an XP pro SP3 Vm in Virtualbox with Vodafone Mobile Connect installed. The USB dongle is detected by virtual box and I've tried passing it through with and without a filter enabled for it. Both times it was listed with the USB keyboard and mouse, all were greyed out. In Windows Ddevice Manager there's a entry for a USB Mobile Internet controller but the Vodafone Mobile Connect software isn't picking up the device. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and teh latest Virtualbox downloaded from the website with the PUEL extensions pack so I can have USB.

I am trying to enable a touchscreen on our POS device IBM 4840, but it does not work for any reason. Here is what I have in xorg.conf.

I'm running CentOS 5.5 with a hardware Areca controller (Raid 10). I initially installed a machine and rsynced the file system to a third machine; I'm then pulling in the file system to new machines and updating grub with a script to make it bootable.
I've done this before with other machines (no raid sets) but with these machines I'm running into errors code...
I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect.Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Observed on two host systems both with openSUSE 11.3 32 bit using ext4: When a big files, in this case a 1.2 GB and a 1.7 GB is copied from DVD, usb harddrive or shared folder into a Windows 7 32 bit guest system, the copied file is corrupted. The md5sum has changed and until the guest system has been rebooted successive md5sum tests on the same file comes up with various results... After a reboot md5sum tests show consistent results, but a sum different from the original file.

But this tells me nothing about where the device file is! How can I find that, or create one myself?
Recently, I created a device sc0 through device mapper. The divice could be found in /dev/mapper/sc0. My problem is that the device doesn't exist in /dev/partitions which will block my following test.BTW, I found dm-0 in /dev/partitions. Is it the same as /dev/mapper/sc0? But the device /dev/dm-0 doesn't exist!

I am using FC10 laptop as USB host for testing, and it runs some small apps based on sg3. All has been well for ~ a week. The FC10 laptop is able to communicate with the device and retrieve data. Suddenly, starting from today, the laptop is not able to properly detect the device. When plugged-in, the MSC device is detected as input device (I thought). This is observed from "dmesg" output and changes in "/dev/input/".The device under development is running at full speed. When I connect to winXP, no problem. A windows file explorer pops up, showing the content of the drive.Also, the FC10 has no problem with other USB flash drive (high speed).
