View 1 RepliesIf I were to have a situation where I had installed the driver for a printer but when I went into printing on the control panel to "add" the printer the driver didn't show up - could I or should I consider manually editing some configuration file to get the printer recognized/ installed on the machine? If that were a good solution, how would I do it? What file would I look for? What would I edit in it? I know that first sentence is probably hard to read but I don't know how else to say it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have done a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 on my partners desktop PC and am attempting to get her printer working, so far no luck. Ubuntu does not list a specific driver for this printer in 8.04 Printer is a Canon laserjet model L1112E according to the label on the printer itself but the printed instruction leaflet calls it a LBP 3000.Canon website offers a linux driver for lbp3000.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a netbook for somebody (in another country!) and one of the last hurdles is the printer setup. I only have the netbook and not the printer with me. I know that the printer is a HP PSC 1215 All-In-One Printer but there seems to be a Catch-22 that I need to have the printer connected in order to be able to set this up using the GUI tools. How do I work around this? As a minimum I just want to enable printing, although scanning would be a bonus.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using ubuntu 10.10 and trying to install the current driver for a lexmark x2600 printer. I retrieved the driver from the lexmark site, to be specific the debian version. Once I had the driver unzipped I was able to run the program to start installing it. However the problem is that it requires root privileges in order to install. So I input my admin password to allow the install. Apparently the password I use is not correct even though it is the admin/root password on my system.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to ubuntu having just dumped my winxp and put ubuntu 9.10 desktop on my Dell Inspiron 6400.I thought most things were not too bad. A few challenges, lots of things to learn. I have wine installed for some windows programmes I need and I am running winxp under virtualbox for some other things that are too hard under ubuntu.
But the biggest challenge so far has been printing. One of the printers I print to is a Toshiba estudio 232 photocopier and I need to do some fairly complex printing to it - one of the more complex being booklet printing. The windows printer drivers for the Toshiba have a swathe of configurable items that make it all work reasonably well and the driver is a snack to install.
But the dramas I have had trying to get it running under ubuntu have been taxing. After a lot of mucking around I finally managed to get ubuntu to use a Toshiba ppd instead of the generic one (I hope I am using the correct terminology) and I finally have access to some options. Not anywhere near the number of options under windows and in a far, far less friendly format but some progress at least. However not enough progress for the printing needs I have so I still have to use winxp under virtualbox to print the documents.Has anyone else experienced these dramas and is there any good answers?
I'm using Epson TX110 printer at the moment, it contains both scanner and printer.
I've installed Epson TX109 driver on Ubuntu, and it prints fine.
The problem is, how do I get the scanner to work? In the previous Windows, there's a program that allows you to scan and edit files, can I do it here too?
I installed printer drivers from a deb package and now I can't install/update anything!! I get this error:
jordan@jordan-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop
[sudo] password for jordan:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for jordan:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gtk-recordmydesktop: Depends: recordmydesktop (>= 0.3. but it is not going to be installed
pstocanonbj: Depends: libcupsys2 (>= 1.2.3)
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
Why is this 1 error tying up the entire install system?
I just rescued an old Lexmark Z35 and have been trying to find the file CJLZ35LE-CUPS-2.0-1.TAR.GZ. All the links I've found in this forum and Google seem to be broken. Does anyone know where can I find them? I have a Lexmark x5250 too, which I haven't been able to use in Ubuntu. I've heard there's a way to make it work.

Since my windows HDD died, I have been permanently on ubuntu but i never got my printer set up. Its a friday night and now ive got some time on my hands! Ive found the drivers for my printer (Cannon MP 210) but i have no idea what to do with the files. The file for the scanner is a .tgz file, and the printer driver is a .tar file. When i connected my printer a few minutes ago, ubuntu 10.10 brought me to the installation and i installed and older printers driver (mp 180) but the scanner wont work and a bit of excess ink is on the test paper.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a driver or way to get a Panasonic Multifunction laser KX-FLB756 working with Ubuntu? When i so the 'add printer' thing this model is not mentioned in the list. Also when it searches it is doing it for a parallel port and not usb. This machine has both connections but i haven't found my parallel cable to try and see if that will make Ubuntu see the printer. So i am saying i have it connected via usb. I know the usb port on the computer is working as i have been using another laser printer via that usb port.
