General :: Install A Dell AIO Printer 962 Into PCLinuxOS 2010 I586?
Jun 25, 2011
I have gateway desktop Model # Gateway 552GE I have intsalled PCLinuxOS release 2010 (PCLinuxOS) for i586. Kernel 2.6.28.8 tex3.
I would like to install A Dell All-IN-One Printer 962. On the that soft ware, so i could print some of the instructions, how to infomation to make easier for me to learn to,how to use this OS.
i am having trouble configuring XFdrake with my dell 1905fp moniter,or is there a problem with pclinuxos 2010. it started by about a month ago and it wouldnt boot. after reading on the net i ran fsck and everything ran ok. i have the same problem again. i ran fsck again, but this time it didnt work. i found out about XFdrake and ran it, again same command line screen. it is a configuration error, or is there another problem. is there any way of setting a fail safe or what would be the recomended action to take.if the pclinuxos 2010 has to be re-installed its not really a problem.
i want to install and try the different oss replacements for sigmaplot like rkward, sciDAVis, etc. but i am unable to find which repository i have to add to synaptic for these programs.
i just made a fresh install of pclinuxos 2010 e-17 setup everything and its working great so i decide to go in synaptic and mark all upgrades and apply about 70% of the way though applying i get an error and try to recover needless to say it crashes and no i cant login i get an error message that says the shared file libembryo.so.0 cannot open no such file or directory
When I boot from the CD, it starts to boot and then continously repeats:
Code
Initializing gfx code... boot: gfxboot:
It stops on boot for about 10 seconds each time then gfxboot for not even a second before the cycle continues. I have tried more than one CD, so I don't think that is the issue. It even did the exact same thing when I tried it on PCLOS 2010.10. Both versions I tried were KDE. trying to figure out how to get past this.
Need a driver for dell photo AIO 922 printer thats compatible w/linux. Love linux so far. Hope I don't have to buy another printer. Tried dell site, no luck for me.
I was curious as to if there was a way to install a 32bit driver on a 64bit system. I have a dell v515w printer and the only driver they provide for it is a 32bit driver. I was wandering if anyone may know of a way to install it or if anyone knows of any other available drivers. I have searched everywhere for i dont know how long and came up with nothing i have tried installing the 32bit libraries and it didnt help.. and going back a 32bit system is out of the question due to ubuntu not wanting to load.. i think it has something to due with my hard drive being to large... but im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick 64bit...
I used Ubuntu as my os for about 6 month. In that i could install gloobus coverflow, gloobus previve and gloobus flow. Few days back i install Mandriva 2010 in to my laptop.I try to find out how to install gloobu in Mandriva. But i couldn't.It's not available in Rpmdrake. I am a newbie and don't now how to do it.If some one now how to do it..
I have a tar.gz file that I am trying to install - In trying to convert it to a rpm file I extracted it to its own directory and ended up with a heap of .svg files - how do I install from here?
The download page says the file openSUSE-11.4-DVD-i586 should be 4.7GB. But my download (which gives the correct checksum) is only 4.22GB. What am I missing here?
update: I guess it just meant you'd need a 4.7GB disk to burn it. Admins feel free to delete this as I'm sure it will help no one else
I am trying to run 'yum install cpptest.i586' to run a 32 bit application on my x86_64 fedora Virtual machine. But when I run this command, it throws an error message like 'cannot get the exclusive lock at the backend. Please close any other legacy packaging tools that may be open'. Though, I have checked that there is no other such process running by doing 'ps -ef|grep yum'. And then it goes to sleeping stat.
A fault in my USB key killed the contents of the /boot partition. I could restore grub, and got back kernel files by extracting kernel-desktop-2.6.31.14-0.4.1.i586.rpm, but now I miss initrd! (I have currently no means to make it.)Would someone having this one be kind enough to e-mail it to me? (It's around 6 MB so it should be OK.) I'll PM you my e-mail address.
Why does it take almost 700 MB of automatic changes when trying to one-click install qinternet (223 KB?) I Got to the forum to ask this question by using rcsmpppd and then wvdial. Those programs are ok but they provide no progress bar/speed meter.
Also does anyone know why qinternet was dropped from the 11.4 - KDE distro? What a pain for us poor old 56K modem bound souls here in the sticks of Texas! Hope you meet some of you at the Texas LinuxFest, April 2,2011 at the Hilton-downtown!
Is there a default password for root on pclinuxos? I didn't have an option to set the pw on reboot and it is no longer 'root'. I can't open the synaptic package manager or install wine without it, it seems.
I'd just installed a *nix antivirus called Avrira Antivir (from downloaded script & installation files), but it completely froze my system when I tried to start it, and the system freezes at the login screen; which is probably because I selected the option of running it automatically upon startup...So here's the deal: I know that I can run a live Linux usb to mount my current fs, then edit the file(s) that load the Avira processes on startup, but I don't know what these files are, much less which directories they are in!
yum -y localinstall --nogpgcheck tora-2.1.0-1.fc12.remi.i586.rpm (NO GO???) yum localinstall tora-2.1.0-1.fc12.remi.i586.rpm (here's the output) Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit Setting up Local Package Process Cannot open file: resolvedep. Skipping.
I downloaded a live KDE-CD and will install from that on hard disk. My box has 4 GB RAM so I understand I need a *-pae kernel ("Physical Address Extension") to be able to use the memory fully.
Can I install the kernel e.g. from [URL] via YAST, or does it need other libraries / software as well and so the system becomes unstable, would anybody know?
In PCLinuxOS LXDE how can I change (or stop) the boot up splash screen and is there an icon (or shortcut keys) to force quit (kill) a program like this one for Ubuntu?
