I am using Open Office 3.1 and I am working on a presentation, that I have to give in march and I am wondering how to crop pictures after pasting them into the presentation. Could not find any way to do this yet.
View 4 RepliesRunning Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

Isn't there any way to crop videos in Ubuntu, or am I just blind and overlooking the function?

What I want to do is crop out a section (specifically the area of New Zealand's continental shelf), and then reproject that section into a different projection (the New Zealand Continental Shelf Lambert Conformal 2000 (NZCS2000) projection).
Matters are complicated somewhat by the fact that the region in question crosses the 180 degree longitude line. I've tried googling, reading the GRASS manual, playing around in QGIS, and even have the book "Desktop GIS" by Gary E. Sherman. But the seemingly simple task of cropping a raster DEM has defeated me. I cannot do it in ordinary imaging software, because the bits per pixel of the raster is too high; programs like the GIMP would grossly quantise the relief.
I want to crop a postscript poster. it is an A0 size, and I want to crop it into exactly four pieces to print on four A2 pages, pack them in my bag, and go to the conference (actually a long trip). Is there a way to use terminal, to crop this file? I rather use terminal instead of Gimp or other graphical packages.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMS office 2003 came with a prgram called "Microsoft Office Photo Manager". It was a surprisingly lightweight application that could adjust color, crop and resize photos. Very simple interface, easy to use. Perfect for simple modifications to digital photos. Is there anything like this in linux? Gimp is certainly not it. Office Drawing and F-Spot photomanager are not it either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore migrating to Fedora/linux, during my window days, one of my programme of choice was MS word. regardless of all it's bugs, it did all i needed it to do (eventually). Now in Fedora I have Open Office. As far as word processing it's fine. But when it comes to inserting Images I hit a brick wall.
when it cam to making bingo cards, I could choose multiple images and resize them with one click, move them all together and crop them on the fly. Open Office doesn't do that. My question is: What other option are there in the fedora world that could help me.
Every time I do Ctrl+C/X and want to paste something with Ctrl+V my browser opens up trying to go to [URL] I looked in the forums and they explained that, if I understand correctly, ubuntu or gnome doesn't have a clipboard manager (I'm probably wrong)... so installed Parcelite and I have it running but it doesn't solve the problem. I'm really used to using shortcuts. At school we use Fedora and there's no problem using Ctrl+V How can I fix this problem?

Now I want to use a cms: modx and I need to copy paste the cms files in the root folder. But I am not able to paste anything in the root folder. I figured out that apache directories are readonly for a general user. So how do I paste that as a super user? I know about the sudo command but that works only in the terminal. Is there a command to copy paste the whole directory from the terminal?
If I copy and then paste some html text from a web page as I have been doing for a study course, then Openoffice Writer closes. When I go to open Openoffice again it asks if I want to run a recovery, I opt for that and it gets me back into the file (which is empty).I have tried saving the file in html format but, the same thing happens.I can paste into Tomboy without problem so it must be the Openoffice program.Maybe I should simply hop over to Sun Microsystems with this, mmm.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Eterm, and Kubuntu (Karmic.) Anyway, I can't select text at all in the Eterm window. I can highlight the text with the mouse, but as soon as a let go of the button, the selection goes away. I mean, the text is still there, its just not highlighted anymore. As a result, I can't copy/paste that text. Have to run a different terminal program (like konsole, or xterm.)

I'm running 9.10 on a computer at home, and when I VNC into it from my Mac at work.
When I do a right-click copy or ctrl-c, the vnc will crash and won't connect again. I can reach the computer with SSH and reboot, but it's kind of annoying when it does this. Has anyone seen this before and is there a fix?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright, so we have a customer that we plan on hooking up 2 Atom Nettops to TVs and having them display meal menus through powerpoint on them. They didn't come with Windows licenses and we are wanting to keep this cost low, so that's why we are doing this through Ubuntu. The plan so far is to ftp the .ppt file to each of the computers from a main Windows machine. I have the FTP servers up and running fine as well as VNC on both machines in case we need to access them. The path to the .ppt will remain static all the time so the filename and path will not change. Let's say it's called menu.ppt and it's located on the desktop of the user "user". I also have the 2 boxes automatically logging into the desktop. How can I launch this .ppt file on startup so that I don't have to touch the computer, just turn it on, and this menu.ppt will open and start playing? Or at the very least, open in OpenOffice or something of the sort and all the client has to do is VNC in and hit F5.

I've bought Samsung n210 netbook, took it home, immediately removed Windows and installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Now, everything went pretty well, but I have a problem. Not sure if I'm just mistaken in my expectations or it's a real problem, but I can't use my desktop. I see the launch bar to the left, and everything in it works fine, but just to mention, it does not have Favorites and such, as I could see on some user guides, but only a thin launch bar with apps in it.
Right clicking on my desktop, pasting something, selecting... Nothing seems to work. Is there any problem with my install or what?
I've seen on the Oracle website that a few other people had this problem where you install the presentation minimizer extension and its icon doesn't show up at all in OOo Impress. It is not even available under "View --> Toolbars -->,etc". I've restarted the machine, etc as well. Weird... I was able to use this extension back when OOo 3.0 came out

View 2 Replies View RelatedI switch over from old laptop to a new one. This one has now a multitouch touchpad wich annoys me. With my old laptop i could select a text and paste it with middle mouse button or with 2 buttons enabled from the touchpad.
Now i moved my existing ssd drive from my old laptop to my new one, so the software and configuration is the same.
I can pasting nothing anymore by pushing in left&right on the touchpad. Due the multitouch i presume? Copy/Paste aint working anymore with urxvt. I would like to get this behaviour back because it's plain simple, fast and works almost everywhere.
C/P Still works with the middle mouse buttons but i don't use a mouse all the time.

Let's say you have a presentation made in OO.o Impress and you have an audio record of the speaker, and you want to combine these two together into a nice video consisting basically of the presentation slides and the speaker's voice - how would you do it?
Would you export the presentation to flash (.swf file), then import it in a video editor (if so. which one?)?
Or would you rather export slides to individual pictures and import them one by one to a video editor (again, which one?)?
After upgrading to Lucid, I've found that when using the OpenOffice Presentation in a full screen slide show, that the presentation itself does not maximize over the gnome panel anymore (I have a slideshow with my panel showing on top). Quite annoying.I am able to work around this by auto-hiding the panel, but would rather be ableo simply run the presentation without having to do so. I can't find anything in OO's settings to resolve this

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am on Lucid 10.04 with Nvidia 9600m (v195.36.24) My TV is 1280x720, my Laptop is 1600x900 (Closest setting to the TV is 1360x768 ). I plug my laptop to my tv via an HDMI cable. I press F1 to get into my presentation mode, and the tv shows most of the desktop, but not all of it. Is there any way to conveniently make it so it automatically sets it to 1280x720?
