I have a bunch of images I took of the same thing, but I was holding the camera, so each one moves a little bit. Is there some way to crop the images so that the focal point doesn't move between pictures?I've done some searching but I haven't had much luck finding anything.
View 1 RepliesBefore migrating to Fedora/linux, during my window days, one of my programme of choice was MS word. regardless of all it's bugs, it did all i needed it to do (eventually). Now in Fedora I have Open Office. As far as word processing it's fine. But when it comes to inserting Images I hit a brick wall.
when it cam to making bingo cards, I could choose multiple images and resize them with one click, move them all together and crop them on the fly. Open Office doesn't do that. My question is: What other option are there in the fedora world that could help me.
I've got a little video and I want to crop it so that a part of it falls away. I installed and tried Openshot, Kino, Pitivi and Kdenlive, but I can't seem to find a way to crop my video. Isn't there any way to crop videos in Ubuntu, or am I just blind and overlooking the function?

Very simple interface, easy to use. Perfect for simple modifications to digital photos. Is there anything like this in linux? Gimp is certainly not it. Office Drawing and F-Spot photomanager are not it either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Xorg 7.5 on a Radeon HD4870 with the FOSS radeonhd server on my HP 6830s. The laptop has a VGA connector and I attach it to a 37" panasonic plasma TV. It works fine except for a little annoyance: when activated, the TV screen is set to the resolution of 1360x768 (which it reports as being the highest it supports) but all the image is shifted by about 100 pixels to the right. I can't see the leftmost part of the page, and I have a black vertical bar to the right.
If I change the resolution to 1024x768 there is no shifting, the image fills the entire screen with no parts hidden, but at this resolution the image is stretched. How can I tune the position on the external monitor so that the image is centered in the screen filling it entirely?
I am using Open Office 3.1 and I am working on a presentation, that I have to give in march and I am wondering how to crop pictures after pasting them into the presentation. Could not find any way to do this yet.

What I want to do is crop out a section (specifically the area of New Zealand's continental shelf), and then reproject that section into a different projection (the New Zealand Continental Shelf Lambert Conformal 2000 (NZCS2000) projection).
Matters are complicated somewhat by the fact that the region in question crosses the 180 degree longitude line. I've tried googling, reading the GRASS manual, playing around in QGIS, and even have the book "Desktop GIS" by Gary E. Sherman. But the seemingly simple task of cropping a raster DEM has defeated me. I cannot do it in ordinary imaging software, because the bits per pixel of the raster is too high; programs like the GIMP would grossly quantise the relief.
I want to crop a postscript poster. it is an A0 size, and I want to crop it into exactly four pieces to print on four A2 pages, pack them in my bag, and go to the conference (actually a long trip). Is there a way to use terminal, to crop this file? I rather use terminal instead of Gimp or other graphical packages.

I tried to open the site with firefox but I cannot see the image on that page, I see the cursor changing shape and clicking with right button in the properties I see they are gif images, furthermore clicking on the (not displayed) images should open a link to the film but instead a blank page opens with error.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with an NVIDIA GeForce 6100 video adapter and my monitor seems to flicker whenever the the computer is processing. My system is up to date and I did install the recommended NVIDIA driver. The monitor isn't going blank or anything like that, it just seems like every once in a while different images will pop up for less than a second. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? I've attached a copy of the xorg.conf file as well:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is any way to SSH from one computer to another and completely bypass a router or any other network infrastructure. The reason I ask is because my robot ( same one in this post ) often needs to change which wireless network it automatically connects to, however it is getting annoying to have to drag out a monitor and plug it in along with a keyboard and mouse every time this needs to happen. Instead I'd much rather just plug my laptop into the other computer, SSH in and change the network myself.
So I thought I would ask you kind people if this is possible. The robot's computer has unused ethernet and USB ports, and I'd like to use those if at all possible (and with linux, anything is possible! -- sorta). I thought about doing something with ad-hoc, but this would limit my range (in infrastructure mode I can control the thing anywhere there is internet), and is to be avoided.
This one has been driving me nuts for some days now:My Gentoo box which is acting as an internet gateway has two point-to-point interfaces, ppp0 (PPPoE to my ISP) and ppp1 (PPTP VPN link to IPREDator). Packets from my local network are just routed through ppp0 and now the fun part starts: I want to MARK (netfilter...) all packets originating from one specific user on that box in order to use another routing table that will contain a default route via the ppp1 interface.Marking seems to work fine as does the second routing table. I am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.
Is there a Linux app for mounting and playing audio CDs from image files? I have saved disc images of nearly all of my CD collection, but I have yet to find any convenient way to play them.
Because of the nature of CD audio, every CD image has an accompanying .cue file, so there are actually 2 files (*.iso or *.bin and *.cue) from each disc. VLC Media Player will play DVD .iso images directly, but doesn't know what to do with audio CD images (or the .cue files).
Mounting and unmounting the images at the command line is tedious, given the very long file paths. I'd rather have a GUI-based app. Does any such thing exist for Linux?
FWIW, Acetone ISO doesn't work. It doesn't want to mount my *.iso format CD images. Probably some funkiness of the CD audio format. I think it is what the Acetone devs call a "multi-sector image." Likewise for the *.bin images of CDs.
Images on screen looks weird, and i dont know why is that(see attachment to see details) i readjusted vga cable with no luck (besides in windows it doesnt do it)

View 1 Replies View Relatedi tied to plug my ipod in just now and it says connected on the ipod but is not mounting on my ubuntu desktop or with gtkpod. i also have a g1 plugged in via usb with an 8gb mem card mounted on the phone but that wont mount on the computer either. Oddly my usb flash drive will mount. i forgot where i seen the message but it says that my ipod is blocked from being mounted. I ran mount on the commandline and it said nothing about an ipod or android phone at all. i can see the devices in /dev/disk/by-label/. And it shows iPod my g1 and my live cd. btw i am running a live cd because of my faulty hard drive

I'm trying to setup MythTV, but whenever I do so, I get no text on the X window setup screen. The language selection takes a very long time (input is super delayed) and I don't see anything on the screen. This last time I ran it it went the farthest it has gone before, but it always hangs at the theme file selection, as shown by this Terminal output.

I now have a directory with about 50 images. I'd like to avoid processing them all by hand.
I have a (very) basic knowledge of programming, and I'm comfortable with the commandline. I don't mind doing some homework on how to use new tools.
All I'm really concerned with here is reducing the file sizes of the images I have.
What possible pathways are there for me to prepare large amounts of images for the web?
I have a Sony Bravia TV (ex700) that has DNLA support (spotty at that from what i've read). What i'm wanting, is the ability for a DNLA type device to stream my ISO images (dvd images).So far I've tried Mythbuntu and have had some issues with it. Biggest issue is that the DNLA server does not show up on my sony. Other issues are around iso images playing faster than normal (through the host, not DNLA).
I've also tried minidlna but there appears to be no support for ISO files.At this time, all i want is a linux based DNLA server that supports ISO files.
i have no problem. But with user2, when i start to read a video file, i have no image, just a black screen.The sound is ok, the time is running normally, but no image. *It tested with vlc and gnome-media-player, it is the same. *I have no error message, when I start the program in a console. *I suspected a permission problem, and i checked all the groups, but i don't see any difference between user1 and user2.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very big image directory: One image per minute, whole a year, captured from a webcam. Now I want to make a video (15 or 24FPS) with all the webcam captures, to see how it changed during this period. I've tried automotion, but it makes a very low quality video, besides it blocks with lots of images. I've also tried dvd-slideshow, but it's not possible to make a more-than-1FPS video.
I also need to change the date in each webcam's images, because they are wrong, so it needed to overlay a little layout with the right date for each image, is that possible to manage within some application? Preferibly shell applications which supports lots of Gb of information (anyway I always could make little videos and then glue them)
