I've seen on the Oracle website that a few other people had this problem where you install the presentation minimizer extension and its icon doesn't show up at all in OOo Impress. It is not even available under "View --> Toolbars -->,etc". I've restarted the machine, etc as well. Weird... I was able to use this extension back when OOo 3.0 came out

I am trying to open up a ppt presentation and with openoffice 3.2 I keep getting and error message saying that the versions are incompatible. Is there any software that is compatible with what I would assume is MS office 2010?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Lucid, I've found that when using the OpenOffice Presentation in a full screen slide show, that the presentation itself does not maximize over the gnome panel anymore (I have a slideshow with my panel showing on top). Quite annoying.I am able to work around this by auto-hiding the panel, but would rather be ableo simply run the presentation without having to do so. I can't find anything in OO's settings to resolve this

Is it possible to import a PPT presentation to LibreOffice or OpenOffice?
The OpenOffice Quickstarter icon in the system tray for Ubuntu 10.04 is an old image and does not fit in with the default theme (light grey background). In fact, the same icon used for the Windows version is at /usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/openofficeorg3-startcenter.png. Where the quickstarter getting this misfitting icon? Perhaps I could simply copy the icon above to the location and file name used by quickstarter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright, so we have a customer that we plan on hooking up 2 Atom Nettops to TVs and having them display meal menus through powerpoint on them. They didn't come with Windows licenses and we are wanting to keep this cost low, so that's why we are doing this through Ubuntu. The plan so far is to ftp the .ppt file to each of the computers from a main Windows machine. I have the FTP servers up and running fine as well as VNC on both machines in case we need to access them. The path to the .ppt will remain static all the time so the filename and path will not change. Let's say it's called menu.ppt and it's located on the desktop of the user "user". I also have the 2 boxes automatically logging into the desktop. How can I launch this .ppt file on startup so that I don't have to touch the computer, just turn it on, and this menu.ppt will open and start playing? Or at the very least, open in OpenOffice or something of the sort and all the client has to do is VNC in and hit F5.

Would you export the presentation to flash (.swf file), then import it in a video editor (if so. which one?)?
Or would you rather export slides to individual pictures and import them one by one to a video editor (again, which one?)?
Is there an app that will take a .odp file (Open office presentation) and create a movie from it -- taking into consideration music and timing of slides in the presentation?

I am on Lucid 10.04 with Nvidia 9600m (v195.36.24) My TV is 1280x720, my Laptop is 1600x900 (Closest setting to the TV is 1360x768 ). I plug my laptop to my tv via an HDMI cable. I press F1 to get into my presentation mode, and the tv shows most of the desktop, but not all of it. Is there any way to conveniently make it so it automatically sets it to 1280x720?

The presentation files all have sound and/or background music and work well in both 'Windoze' and in PCLinuxOS. I am running these files on a laptop with ATI SB ALC 268 sound which is working ok.I have considered that it might be an LO version difference SUSE is 3.3 PCLInuxOS is 3.4 but the change logs I can locate, do not indicate any change that would have an influence!

Gimp works fine editing and saving photos from/to the nfs share. kWrite can do its thing and read/create files on the NAS. Files I create with vim are visible and editable under windows. OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.
I need to execute evince from command line or from a shell script and open it directly in full screen, or start some program for presentation.
I mean:
$ evince (this opens evince)
$ evince /dir1/dir2/file.toview (this opens evince and the file.toview but not in full screen)
$ evince /dir1/dir2/file.toview 'in mode presentation'
I've installed Office 2007 under wine, and would like to add launchers for Word, Excel, etc to the Unity launcher bar.
So, I've created a launcher on the Desktop that will run Word with wine. I've changed the icon to the Word Icon and everything works great from the desktop. If I drag that launcher to the Unity bar, it adds it, but changes the icon to the springboard default icon that new launchers use. Please see attached picture.
As a side note, I am really starting to like Unity (puts on flamesuit), but it seems very easy to break the install of 11.04. I've had to reinstall 4 times now.
Ive had a few freeze ups on this system but the last time it affected the top panel.The wireless icon has disappeared to be replaced by an extra bluetooth icon.screenshot attached.Is there any kind of clean up utility (like tune up utilities in win)Also, any kind of log so I can trace this freeze up Iḿ getting.Ive only just got this laptop so dont know if it did it before although prev owner never mentioned it.
