MS office 2003 came with a prgram called "Microsoft Office Photo Manager". It was a surprisingly lightweight application that could adjust color, crop and resize photos. Very simple interface, easy to use. Perfect for simple modifications to digital photos. Is there anything like this in linux? Gimp is certainly not it. Office Drawing and F-Spot photomanager are not it either.
View 3 RepliesI'm looking for a graphics editor which will convert/resize the aspect ratio of the anamorphic images I create in-camera to their appropriate size. I'm shooting my images on film and digital. My digital camera is a Sony H50 with native 4:3 format. I'm also shooting with a Hasselblad EL/M with the standard 6x6 format.
Using my 2x anamorphic head on either camera will produce the following results: Sony H50: 4:3 > 2.66:1 (8:3) Hasselblad EL/M: 6x6 > 12x6. We're easily talking about 48"x24" or 60"x30" prints here folks! So I need to know which programs in Linux will give me the results I'm looking for.
I want to make my photo less than 40 kb. My photo on scanning is 313 kb also I want to decrease pixel size to 110*140. How is it possible?

Now in Fedora I have Open Office. As far as word processing it's fine. But when it comes to inserting Images I hit a brick wall.
when it cam to making bingo cards, I could choose multiple images and resize them with one click, move them all together and crop them on the fly. Open Office doesn't do that. My question is: What other option are there in the fedora world that could help me.
I am trying to take a color photo and make it a high contrast black and white image. Just a 2 color image; rather, I just want the outline and nothing else.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on Debian with KDE 3.5 desktop and I use the Konsole terminal emulator.What I would like to know is: is it possible to tweak the color palette, for example to change my red to something a bit brighter? I use the "white on black" schema in Konsole and all colors are great except that red is far too dark on the black background. I found this Perl script that is supposed to change the palette but, while it prints the current palette just fine, I can see no difference between the various palettes.Searching for solutions mostly brings up pages about changing the scheme in Konsole or how to use colors in prompts and ls output etc, which is not quite what I need.

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex dual-booting with Vista for work purposes. I have been running the two successfully for quite a few months now and am just getting to grips with it. I have lost my desktop at start-up. I get all the way past the Login to a blank desktop background (just colour - no image) and the only thing visible is a Terminal window. As I am not familiar with Linux command lines I can't do very much. I have even tried reinstalling Ubuntu which showed no error messages that I noticed but, I have the same result. At the moment I have used Supergrub to allow me to boot straight to Vista till I get things sorted out.

Detects the type of the picture (wide, normal) and does the resize based on that. What I mean by that is that it should not break the image by shrinking it more in one direction then in the other so it looks weird. The purpose of this is my Blog. I currently have GIMP. I can open an SVG file just fine. But when I go to save it, GIMP thinks the file is a new one. When I click "Replace", an error pops up "The following file does not have a known file extension". I want to know if there is an FOSS image editor that will write SVG files, not just read them.
I have a problem for which I imagined a radical solution. Okay, I have a script that uses Alltray's "menu" feature as an interface. It's working greatly, EXCEPT sometimes lxpanel (the panel and tray of LXDE) has a hiccup and restarts, at which point the alltray menu is still running, but the icon is gone from the tray.
I want to somehow test the screen for the existence of a color, a color that is likely only to exist in the icon I've chosen for the chat menu. If the color exists on my screen, then the script can continue to do nothing, but if the color doesn't exist, then that means the alltray icon with my custom icon has disappeared, at which point I should have my bash script close the alltray process and start it again.
How to accomplish the checking of my screen for the existence of a particular color? To simplify, I already have simple screenshot scripts (scrot is good for it), so it would be fine if I could simply analyze an image.
I am a beginner with Ubuntu and I have limited knowledge with computers. I want to be able to professionally edit photos and film to create videos. Can you please let me know what programs would be good to download?

I have a 3TB home server storing all my files and a mix of XP, Vista & Ubuntu clients on a Gigabit network. When I access a folder with JPEG photos on the XP or Vista machines and I have them set to display thumbnails that is exactly what I get. The thumbnails load nice and fast. When I access the same folders on the Ubuntu machines with "icon view" it only displays a black icon that says "JPG" but if I copy that folder over to a local drive on the Ubuntu machines then the thumbs display just fine. Does anyone have any idea how to change this on the Ubuntu machines so they load thumbnails for networked photos as well?
