Software :: Imagemagick - Height-and-width Not Deterministic When Crop An Png File

Sep 8, 2009

After spending a few hours and having some little sleep, I am very puzzled and disturbed by the fact that new-new-02-5-1.png does not have the intended 818x788. It must have to do with cropping with nonzero offsets.

Programming :: Use Awk And Sed To Extract Height And Width Of File

Aug 3, 2010

I am trying to write commands that extracts the height and width of a video file via ffmpeg. I have the following working so far:

This gives the following answer in widthxheight format with an extra , 720x480,

How can I instead run 2 separate commands that give me height and width separately? I want some command to give me 720 and another command to give me 480 and I dont need the x or the ,

If you need to know this is what ffmpeg -i videofile.mov 2>&1 gives as output

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate:

At least one output file must be specified

Software :: GIS - Crop Then Reproject A Raster DEM?

Jan 9, 2010

I have the ETOPO1 global relief model, [URL]...in georeferenced TIFF format. What I want to do is crop out a section (specifically the area of New Zealand's continental shelf), and then reproject that section into a different projection (the New Zealand Continental Shelf Lambert Conformal 2000 (NZCS2000) projection).

Matters are complicated somewhat by the fact that the region in question crosses the 180 degree longitude line. I've tried googling, reading the GRASS manual, playing around in QGIS, and even have the book "Desktop GIS" by Gary E. Sherman. But the seemingly simple task of cropping a raster DEM has defeated me. I cannot do it in ordinary imaging software, because the bits per pixel of the raster is too high; programs like the GIMP would grossly quantise the relief.

Fedora :: Open Office - Resize Multiple Images And Move Them All Together And Crop Them On The Fly

Before migrating to Fedora/linux, during my window days, one of my programme of choice was MS word. regardless of all it's bugs, it did all i needed it to do (eventually). Now in Fedora I have Open Office. As far as word processing it's fine. But when it comes to inserting Images I hit a brick wall.

when it cam to making bingo cards, I could choose multiple images and resize them with one click, move them all together and crop them on the fly. Open Office doesn't do that. My question is: What other option are there in the fedora world that could help me.

General :: ImageMagick Command Sometimes Fails?

May 5, 2011

I have an ImageMagick command that is something like this:

convert "/path/to/photo" -set comment "(c) my company" -resize WxH miff:- | composite -dissolve 30 -geometry +40+138 -quality 80 "/path/to/logo.miff" - jpeg:"/path/to/photo_for_public"

Directory /path/to is mounted over NFS (same network). Some options of fstab that might be helpful:

Both rsize and wsize are 3kB
hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2

Sometimes the imagemagick command fails and produces no file (/path to/photo_for_public might not emerge after command execution). Files might be from 100kB to 10MB. We usually re-run the command for files not generated. Sometimes it fails even twice, so we do it third time (hilariously funny, but even a third run can fail).

Are there any thoughts what may be wrong with my photo-processing setup?

May 26, 2011

I used imagemagick to convert the files to gif with the following command

Code:

for i in {100..131}; do convert CIMG0$i.jpg CIMG0$i.gif; done # works

This worked like expected, but when afterwards I wanted to scale the images

Code:

for i in {100..131}; do convert -scale 25% CIMG00$i.gif CIMG00$i_scaled.gif; done # works not it seems the system is working for about half a minute, but I get no output. The single command

Code:

convert -scale 25% CIMG100.gif CIMG100_scaled.gif # works

works as expected and gives me a scaled image. What does the convert command do in the second case? is the for-loop wrong?

CentOS 5 :: Install A Newer Version Of ImageMagick?

Aug 13, 2009

I have ImageMagick 6.2.8 installed on my CentOS 5.3 (64bit) system. I want to upgrade it to a newer version, because it has nice new features I need to use in a PHP script I write for a website. I tried yum, but it did not help, it didn't have a newer version of ImageMagick. Maybe I have to use some other repositories (I use CentOS and RPMFprge repositories only) or use them some other way. I ended up with downloading ImageMagick 6.5.4 RPM from ImageMagick website (it was marked as Fedora package, there's no one for CentOS there) and tried to install it. I've got some absent dependencies, but installed them all, most from the CentOS and RPMForge repositories. Some were absent from those repositories (like jasper-libs and libtool-ltdl) and I installed them from other sources. Finally, when I tried to install ImageMagick I got this error:

-bash-3.2# rpm -Uvh --test ImageMagick-6.5.4-10.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 is needed by ImageMagick-6.5.4-10.x86_64
rpmlib(PayloadIsXz) <= 5.2-1 is needed by ImageMagick-6.5.4-10.x86_64

I tried to install it using --nodeps, but got some "cpio: Bad magic" error. So, as far as I understand, I need to upgrade "rpm" package itself to make it working. Correct me if I'm wrong here. The current version of rpm is: bash-3.2# rpm --version RPM version 4.4.2.3

If I really have to upgrade rpm, then I'm not sure what to do. I have few questions:

1) First of all, what version of "rpm" package do I need? Because I don't want any conflicts. The latest version, as I can see on rpm.org, is 4.7.1. Will it work with CentOS 5.3?

2) Where do I get the right rpm for the rpm upgrade? If it's available at all. Rpm.org, as far as I can see, got source only, and I'm not sure CentOS uses their version of rpm. Where can I get the right rpm package, preferably as a plain .rpm file so I don't need to build it myself?

3) And after all, the most important. Wouldn't my system break at all if I upgrade rpm? I don't want to screw things up and end up with a broken system.
