Ubuntu :: Accidentally Closed Panel, How To Restart
Jan 11, 2011When I installed Ubuntu, I had two panels.The first one has application, places, system, shortcuts and time.The second one had all of my icons and when I minimized an app, I could access it off of the second panel.I have closed this second panel and don't know how to restart it. Now when I minimize an app (eg browser), I have to press alt-tab and toggle through the open apps until I get to the one I need

Jun 26, 2010I accidentally removed network and sound icon from top panel. Is there any way how to put it back? I've read several howtos that I've to add notification area but it doesn't really work.I know that if I delete this user and create a new one the icons will be there again but I'd like to do it cleaner way.This is how it should look like (untouched user account):And this is what I've done :-/Network icon is missing in both accounts (removed by accident while trying to remove something else :-/ in user "tata" it at least shows sound button.

I did manage to find some solutions to get the sound volume applet in place, like it was in previous Ubuntu versions, but I do obviously prefer the new sound menu in place. Mar 4, 2011I have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.
How do I go about to fix this strange bug?

Jul 11, 2010get rid of the bottom panel in Opensuse 11.2 and just use a dock with applets. However, if I remove the bottom panel, the little icon that allows me to connect to wireless will go with it, right? And it wouldn't do me much good to get rid of that, because then I can't connect to the Internet...So, is there a wireless connection applet for the dock? I didn't see one anywhere. I can install the file manager app, but could I access it from there on the dock? I just want to make sure I can still connect to the Internet without the bottom panel.

May 8, 2010I usually change the default bottom panel settings so that I have it on the right hand edge of the screen, 100 pixels wide and auto hide checked. Until now, this has been fine, but with ubuntu 10.4, it has an awful banded look.
So, I tried using a solid colour and a custom background image and although this improves matters, there is still a banded section at the top that should not be there. When you have a few apps running, the taskbar shows the active app normally, but the background apps are banded again. Is there a way to fix this? It also makes the apps difficult to read.
