Very n00b question. Am running lucid alpha 3 and while just checking it out i deleted the group icon which looks like a msg on the top right bar (the one that grouped the empathy and gwiber account)
Have tried multiple ways but its getting to the older setting
do i have to reset the panels to their defaults to get it corrected or is there any other way
I screwed up and deleted my top panel and I cannot figure out how to bring it back to the original default settings. After trying different things found in other posts like
restart X, then in console: gnome-session-remove gnome-panel gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel gnome-panel &
now both top and bottom panels are gone. I need help to bring both panels back. I'm on jaunty jackalope 9.04.
I was playing around with the default panel that has the power icon (wrong lingo maybe) and the network/sound icons, etc.I deleted some items including the power icon and now for the life of me can't find it in the panel applets list in lubuntu. Is there a way to restore the default panel with the settings as when I first installed lubuntu.I also played with some spacings and other settings so would rather just get it back to normal/restore it vs add all the items back on and then play with the spacings again.
Every time after I boot up, I have to follow the info at URL...Do you have any ideas on to make sure that I do not have to do that almost every time I boot up?
I have had this problem with all installations of Maverick Meerkat. Moving the default clock from the upper panel to the lower panel makes it bahave strangely. When clicked on, it now appears in the middle of the screen (sometimes even higher depending on resolution). This never happened prior to Maverick Meerkat.
I deleted my "task bar" panel that is at the bottom of the screen and I can't figure out how to restore it in this version. I've searched the forums and the answers for previous versions of Kubuntu don't seem to work for me. Is there anyone who has solved this problem after downloading version 10.04.
To the best of my recollection, here's what happened. I installed Ubuntu 10, all default options. No custom themes. Using Gnome. I installed Kubuntu. Again, all default options. Still using Gnome, though. I upgraded to 11. Then, when I try to switch back to Ubuntu, I can't get the default Ubuntu theme to stick. When I log in, it looks correct for about twenty seconds, then everything switches to Ambiance or Plymouth or something else. Basically, I'm trying to get the brown task bar back and I can't. It's all light-colored.
when i try to resize the panel on kubuntu part of it turns black, is this some kind of bug? i already installed all the updates. i leave some pics so you can see how it looks when its fully resized. by the way how do i install the nvidia drivers? in Ubuntu a window pops up and tells you to install them, but here in Kubuntu i haven't got any message...
I'm trying to make Compiz activate at bootup, but I can't seem to get it to work. Basically, I'd like to make Compiz the default Window Manager in Kubuntu Lucid. How to accomplish this?
This should be relatively simple, I've tried searching google for it already posted, but couldn't find the list. Would anyone possibly know what the default autostart settings are for kubuntu? Like, if you haven't changed much in your autostart, could you open that up real quick and take a screenshot and post it?. I was trying to remove one of the things I had in autostart but my laptops touchpad got stuck and held down the "remove" and removed 3 of the default applications.
Sorry, serious Ubuntu noob here. I was messing with the bar at the top (I think it's called the panel?) And now it's gone. I'm sure there must be someway to get it to show up again.
I deleted it for AWN and I didnt like AWN so i deleted that too. I just want to go back to the panel... How do i do that Another question... The default wireless internet thing on the top panel... I deleted that
Today I removed my panel at the top of my screen by mistake. The panel showed open programs and my firewall icon, which I liked. Does anyone know how I can get this back up please?
I decided to remove my Kubuntu partition until I can fully dedicate my time to figuring out linux (right now I need Windows for certain things, i.e. flash and my zune).
I fixed the MBR, but the problem now is I have a 142.77 GB partition of free space. What do I do? Do I just delete it?
When I click delete this is the message I get: "This is an Extended partition. This partition will become inaccessable if you delete it. Are you sure you want to delete this partition?"
I am essentially asking if this just means the partition will be gone and not the memory, and where the memory goes if I delete the partition.
I am having difficulty changing my default sound card in Kubuntu 11.04. I am able to use Phonon to change it for KDE applications; however, I am unable to accomplish this for VLC and Chromium.
I just went from ubuntu 9.04 and changed to kubuntu 10.10 and I have a few issues on making my resolution default. I have went in my system settings> monitors and changed the resolution but it keeps coming back to different resolution after I reboot. I have check the md5 on the disk and it reports no errors.
I deleted my taskbar panel. How can I get it back? I prefer to use a dock, and so I'm using Cairo-dock, and because of this, I deleted my taskbar panel, and I was just wondering how I would get it back, if I ever wanted to.
I just installed Lucid, looks good so far. But In an attempt to move things around I removed the "Shutdown" button from the upper right tool bar and cant see how to bring it back anywhere. So please would someone tell me where its hidden!
My login name is John and I saw on top right my name where you can click and chose options for chatting. I wanted to remove it since i never use it so I did but then the shut down menu also removed. how do i get it back?
I was trying to get suspend and hibernate on my shutdown menu and I removed it from the panel with the intention of adding it back, hopefully with the suspend and hibernate choices on it.
I installed ubuntu netbook edition on my desktop (from the Ubuntu Software Center) to test out Unity. It looked pretty cool, but every time I went to the sidebar it flashed black. I decided I didn't want to fiddle with it too much to get it working so I uninstalled the ubuntu-netbook package. Mutter was still hanging around though (and lot of other things I assume) so I uninstalled that as well. Now gnome-panel is gone and I don't know how to get it back. Any way to uninstall all those packages and put it back?
Since my video card cannot run Unity (3D), I jumped at the opportunity for Unity Qt but just recently when I logged in the top bar did not appear at all! How do I get it back? # gnome-panel pulls up the Gnome one but not the Unity one.
I deleted the bottom panel, I put it back again but when I minimize windows they don't appear anywhere (they were appearing in this bottom panel) on the desktop! How to put set the panel back as it was, so that when I minimize windows they get down there.
this is going to sound really stupid most likely...well I accidentally removed the airport icon from my panel, and I cannot find it when i click on"add to panel" I was wondering how I can get it back on there?...
Recently I removed uninstalled evolution and gwibber from lucid and removed the envelope icon from the top panel too. But along with it the volume icon also disappeared. How do I get the volume icon back?
