Fedora :: Philips PWC Kernel Webcam Driver Not Working Correctly

Mar 7, 2011

The Fedora 14 (and 13) pwc Philips Webcam Driver.is only supporting 160x120 resolution (and nothing higher such as 640x480). Also not supporting some other things correctly, I suspect.I say so having tested multiple web camera software and either they don't work (because they have no setting for low res) or they do work if settable to low res., but not for any higher res.I also have a working setpwc tool which shows the driver does not support framerate resetting.I have a Toucam and Toucam Pro - same for both. Also these units worked fine under Fedora 11, and under earlier versions even Red Hat 4.But I usually got the latest pwc from Saillaird.org and compiled it to get full support but there are no more current sources there anymore, and the older ones don't compile. But as I am saying under F11 it was fully correct, now under F13 and 14 it is broken.

Fedora :: Nvidia Driver Locks Computer Up On Startup After Latest Kernel Update?

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Webcam 046d:09a1 Not Supported?

Dec 26, 2010

I have a several-year-old Logitech webcam, device ID 046d:09a1, which is not currently supported by the uvcvideo driver version 0.1.0 included in my 5.5 centosplus build. The uvcvideo site points to build instructions at the linuxtv.org site, which indicates one should be able to build modules for "vanilla kernels" 2.6.16 and higher. My attempts to compile from their source resulted in various layers of of errors, and I'm way out of my depth in figuring out the changes necessary to compile successfully.

My searches haven't yet turned up any detailed info about building these modules specifically for CentOS 5.5, so I was hoping someone here may have had experience doing this, and might be able to steer me in the right direction.

Alternatively, are there any plans on the horizon to update uvcvideo to a version greater than 0.1.0 in future kernel updates?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: 9550 ATI Graphics Card - Cannot Install The Driver - Says Not Supported

Mar 28, 2010

Using Ubuntu 9.10 I installed Ubuntu onto a second hard drive and everything seems to work fine except for the fact that I cannot install the driver (it says not supported or something) when I downloaded it from the website. I downloaded the driver made for Linux. The driver manager claims "no proprietary drivers." At the moment it shows to be using integrated graphics, but I need the full hardware graphics to play games. The open source alternate driver didn't work either.

Ubuntu :: Can't Install Webcam Driver

Jan 23, 2010

I am migrating to Ubuntu and so far I find it superior. But there are a few things that are a little difficult to grasp. The installation of a webcam driver is intricate. I've downloaded the driver ov511-1.65.tar.gz which is applicable to my old and faithful Creative webcam. From [URL] I got the OV511 Installation Instructions:

But I fail at the first step, to become root. This is what I get:

Code:
coco@coco-desktop:~$ su
Contrasea:
su: Fallo de autenticacin
coco@coco-desktop:~$

I tried several times and wrote the password I use to start the session, the only one I have. It doesn't help that you are blind to the results of typing, but I tried again and again. I can't be that wrong always.

Also I can't decompress the driver.

Ubuntu :: Installing The Latest ATi Driver - Fglrx - Fails On 9.10

May 22, 2010

I got tired of not being able to run any 3D apps on my integrated Intel and went out and came home with a ATi Radeon HD 4650. Skip the bit about how I could have gotten an nVidia (they didn't have any HTPC compatible low-profile nVidias on shelf).

Actually the card works very well, it runs all the 3D apps I've thrown at it so far (and quite a bit faster too).

My problem is with video playback: it is jerky. The framerate stalls and then speeds up and is out of sync. When not out of sync, there is tearing. Yes I have tried turning Compiz off, didn't do anything. Weird thing is the CPU utilization is really low, so everything should be working.

I figured I would update the video drivers to the latest available on ATi website (following the instructions here) but I've ran into trouble with the installer:

Code:

How do I proceed from here? If you've got a fix for the video with the drivers in the repositories that is cool also. I don't necessarily need the latest drivers.
