Since iBus replaced SCIM, I seem to be not able to typ any non-Latin text in any Flash app.For so far I'm using, it's Nicovideo.jp and LiveMocha.com.On Nicovideo.jp (aka, Nico Nico Douga), all the video, comments, and such are Flash based.And on LiveMocha, just the chat.Someone at MSN is able to typ Japanese, Chinees, Korean, etc. in Flash based things, using Microsoft IME.But can I also do this with iBus?

my web host runs a linux server, and when i try to load a file in my browser (which i have uploaded in my web space) with non latin words it gives a 404 error (file not found). for example i have uploaded mydomain.com/νεο.html the word "νεο" is non latin. so when i try to reach this document from my browser i get the error.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi've been using some subliminal software on windows for a while now and have found it to be really good. It basically just flashes up a message on screen over the top of whatever is going on at that time but the message is only there for about 30 milli seconds
The message is not there long enough for your conscious mind to read it but the theory is that your subconscious mind will read it.It actually works really well. THe problem is that they dont package a linux version although they do have an OSX version, i'd really like this on ubuntu.
Tried it in wine and it installs but nothing happens after that. Alternatively perhaps somebody can tell me how you could get a message to flash up on screen based on a list of messages in a text file?
I'm using Ubuntu Karmic 9.10, and I have a problem with clipboard manager (I guess). I can't copy text from KDE/QT applications, i.e. KeepassX, Skype, .. I installed Glipper, but it doesn't help

In Linux MouseDrag on Jtextfield data and paste in text editor also not able to paste data but MouseDrag on Jtextfield data and using center button of mouse(scroller) able to paste data on other text editor. Same thing is happening with double click and tab also. In windows it's working fine.
I am trying to make an iso boot from a 8GB SanDisk Cruzer USB drive through UNetBootin, and it's just not happening. I have tried several times, but always had the same disappointing result. It looks like when UNetBootin goes through the process of putting it on the flash drive, it completely skips aking it bootable. Any suggestions? Maybe it is just UNetBootin.

I'm posting this in the newbie section because the problem I'm having feels like it probably has a simple solution, but I don't what to do. If this forum is inappropriate, I suppose a mod could move it?
Anyway, upon highlighting a link in either Firefox 4 nightly or Chromium, I get this pop-up menu: [URL](copy paste and remove the space between the h and the t - and yes, this is a "screenshot" taken with a camera, as this menu seems to inhibit the functioning of the PrintScreen key for some reason) I do not need to click - as soon as a URL is highlighted, the menu pops up, forcing me to click away in order to cancel the menu. At first I assumed it was a Firefox thing - it happens in both 3.6 and 4 Nightly - so I began checking all of my add-ons (only 4) and plugins to see if I have some plugin causing this. Nothing seemed to be.
When I switched to Chromium, I quickly realized the same thing happens in Chromium, as well, so it's independent of what browser I'm using. This leads me to believe it's some package I have installed (apt-get, I'm using Linux Mint on this laptop, and on my other computers, which are running Arch, I do not encounter this in either Chromium or Firefox4) that's causing this, so if someone could just identify what package it is I can remove it. Or maybe my assumption is incorrect and there's something else that leads to this popup, but either way, it's really annoying and I want it gone!
im currently using a RHEL5 RIS server in my Lab to deploy rhel5 for all my systems. everything has been configured and installation works fine, but i am not able to run the installation in text interface mode. when i type "linux text", i get an error saying invalid kernel parameter. i'll paste my /etc/dhcpd.conf file here. please have a look and let me know what changes i should be making in order for my text interface installation to be working.

Is anyone managing to live reasonably without it? I'm only really wanting it to play media of ....., bbc iplayer, and assorted other video sites. Arch recommended installing FlashBlock for my chromium browser so I can download flash content, but all these sites detect that I don't have flash and take me to a warning page.

I'm still getting the message to upgrade. The version of flash I have is 9.0 r262. Is this a bug? shouldn't Firefox automatically be using the latest version of flash?

When I tell my trash to empty it will either say it will but the files will still be there or it will say a can't b/c i didn't delete it from my trash(screenshot). I don't know what to do to get it to get rid of the files since I tried telling it to bypass the trash and that didn't do anything.

I downloaded and ran the Universal USB Installer. It shows up as:

So here is my situation: I am unable to boot from a CD I am unable to boot from a Flash Drive I have Ubuntu installed with Wubi, and can boot into it successfully I have a Ubuntu Installation CD I have created a partition into which I'd like to install Ubuntu. Is it possible to boot into my current Wubi Ubuntu installation, and then launch the Ubuntu installer from the installation CD, and then direct this installation to the empty partition I have waiting?
Basically, I think my question is this: Does anybody know what file to run manually from the CD in order to launch the installer?
I've found some older threads with the same problem and read a few bug reports also. Nobody has a solution that has worked for me.How can I get Ubuntu 10.10 to be able to use something as basic as a usb drive?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install ubuntu 11.04 from a bootable USB flash drive. As i couldnt create the USB using the inbuilt usb creator which came with the .iso file i had downloaded, i had used universal USB installer to create it. It took a lot of time to created the bootable pendrive.
I had copied the contents of the pendrive thus created to a folder on my hard disk and named it 'PENDRIVE'. Later i had formatted the pendrive and used it for other purposes.
Today, i wanted to install ubuntu on another computer, so i copied the contents of this folder to my pendrive (instead of creating a bootable usb drive using universal USB installer again) and renamed my pendrive as 'PENDRIVE'. But when i tried to boot from it (i had changed the boot order of my computer accordingly) i got this message, 'remove any removable cd or media and press any button to restart'. Until i removed the pendrive my system refused to start and i was unable to install ubuntu. Why did this happen?
When I try:

Trying to install FC10 on an older Dell GX150 machine, and I get to the point where the graphical install app loads, but I am not able to see any text on the screen, other than the back/next buttons, and when I click on next, I can see that it goes to a new screen where it looks like it's asking for some text input, but I can't decipher what it's asking for, and if I try to type in the box, nothing happens.
I think I read somewhere on here about using a different boot option to get FC10 to work in a Virtual PC, but not sure if it would apply here (and can't seem to find that thread anyway!) I am booting off the FC10 DVD, and can get to the menu to install/upgrade, rescue, boot locally, or test memory. If I hit TAB, I can edit the boot option - I just need to know what to put in there to get this to work!
I am on Ubuntu 11.04 and using Libre Office 3.3.2 to compose new documents and am saving them using .doc, .ppt and .xls files. (due to having to share them with others who are on Windows systems)
I have a lot of doc files and I need to search for text INSIDE these files. I am perplexed with the fact that no search tool is able to search for text INSIDE these file types. "cat" can display them of course, but grep is not able to locate text INSIDE these file types. I even tried to save a .doc file as an .odt file, but no luck. The Applications>Accessories>Search for Files does not search INSIDE doc, xls or ppt with the option "Contains the text".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed an issue after upgrading to 11.4 with my sound. The sound works fine for the most part. The issue I have found is when playing a song in Amarok and then loading up a flash video, there is no sound on the flash video. If I pause amarok, then press play again on the flash video the sound will play in the video. Then if I go back to Amarok, the song won't play again until I close the firefox tab with the flash video. So naturally I figured it was an issue with my sound driver allowing multiple playback. However, I then went and loaded a video in VLC (an .avi) and the sound in vlc and amarok worked at the same time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Debian 5.0 (Lenny) upgraded from Debian 4.0 ( Etch). Being an upgraded install seems to make quite a difference in a number of areas as I am still running several applications which are no longer available due to lack of maintenance. I am running a number of applications that would simply not be available on a clean Debian 5.0 install.
I installed Adobe Flash 10 not from the Debian repository but using dpkg -i and the Ubuntu deb package from the Adobe website. The Flash version in the Debian repository was down level from the version I wanted installed. The install ran fine and the verification of flash in Iceweasel, Iceape, Chrome and the Gnome web browser all verified as version 10 on the Adobe web site.
Subsequently I discovered that Iceweasel was being misidentified as not running Flash 10 on a web site that required Flash 10. This was not happening with any of my other browsers. I looked in Tools/AddOns/Plugins in Iceweasel and found that Flash 9 and Flash 10 were both present. Disabling the Flash 9 plugin caused Flash verification to fail as if Flash were not on my system.
I did an apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree which appears to have removed all traces of Flash 10. Now all of my browsers verify on the Adobe site as Flash 9 and work properly on all sites that require Flash 9 or lower. Looking in /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins I see no flash plugin library at all. A Flash plugin library was in this folder until I did the above remove operation.
I do not understand how Flash 9 can be installed and operational and not have a library appear in the Iceweasel's plugins folder. Using dpkg -l as well as Synaptic I cannot seem to find a package to remove that would remove Flash 9.
Anyone know the name of a package I can remove to uninstall Flash 9?
Anyone know in what folder I might look for the Flash 9 library?
Anyone know if a fresh install of Iceweasel supports the automatic installation of Flash when visiting a web site that requires flash? This may well be how Flash was installed originally and part of the reason why I can find no reference to it in the expected folders.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 11 on my system (see below) using the i686 DVD. The graphical install worked just fine, and after the system booted back up, the X server was working very well.
There is no boot text. On the other system with Fedora 11, I can see the boot text scroll by in the window and/or a progress bar at the bottom of the monitor during the boot sequence. On this system, the monitor says "No Input", and nothing appears until the login prompt for the X window. I am able to enter the BIOS configuration page and navigate through it without any issues. I can also edit the grub commands before Fedora loads without a problem.
If I boot in text mode, no login prompt appears. If I wait long enough, the monitor enters the power save mode since it is not receiving a signal. I am able to log in to the system with my user name and password, and then start the X server. Once the server starts, the monitor turns back ON and all is well.
From the X window, I use the CTL+ALT+F2 key to enter text mode. The monitor stops responding. If I press the ENTER key a couple of times, then press ALT+F7, I can briefly see the text window with a couple of login prompts before the X window starts responding again.
How can I get the text mode to work? Why is there no input to the monitor when booting?
