I'm currently trying Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2. Everything worked fine and I love it, but today after an update to flashplugin, flash just just stopped working. If I go to ..... I'll see: You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. Download it from Adobe. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the plugin but to no avail.

Any way to force the update? Need to update their flashplugin on Jessie?
Flash is no longer working in Mozilla Firefox after the most recent flash plugin update. I couldn't find any information on it.

i'm getting an error when i try to update the adobe-flash-plugin with update manager and package manager, the message says

When i try to update via update manager it says either "failed" or "hit". It done this on my iMac recently so i took it off there. I've had ubuntu on this laptop many times (Dell xps m1530) and its been fine. I cant even install anything from the repositories. When i try to update via terminal it gets stuck on "gb.archive.ubuntu.com lucid release.gpg" and all the other ones after it.

Both Chrome and Firefox report a missing plugin, even though Flash had been working perfectly with the flashplugin-nonfree package installed. So I uninstalled this package, and tried to manually download and install the package from Adobe's site, only to find they only offer 32-bit binaries, which appear to be incompatible with my 64-bit system.Has anyone else run into this problem? Why would an update suddenly break this functionality? How can I repair it?

For some reason I've been trying to update my flash player and every time I try and do this from the terminal it tells me that the command can't be found, even though the zip file that contains the update is executable and my PATH has been set to include the directory that said file is in. The Flash update reflects properly in Firefox and Google Chrome, but unfortunately it does not show up properly in Opera. It shows that Opera has 10.0.45.2 as the flash version. I've written about it in other threads, but they never seem to come to conclusion, and the solutions suggested only make things worse.
I'd like to keep my current data while setting sound, flash, and boot options back to the system default for 10.10. In other words, a reinstall without a format.
Is there a way to accomplish this? I have a lot of stuff I really don't want to lose and no way to back it all up.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen pdf files didn't load into firefox (problem still not solved), i tried to remove mozplugger, of which there were two instances in plug-ins. i first though flash-plugin was the culprit, so i removed it. but it wasn't. so i removed nsdiswrapper and then, i could remove both mozploggers (same version) i*still had icedtea, and itunes application detector, which i*found no way to remove since there is no file name associated with it in add-ons, plug-ins (rather weird, if you ask me).
so i reinstalled mosplogger, flash-plugin 32 bit and nsdiswrapper (i*don't remember in which order) and now not only pdf files don't load in firefox, or any viewer, but i can't watch flash even at videos, which is rather reliable flash-wise. i receive this error message:
you need to upgrade your adobe flash player to watch this video.
i*still have 2 mozplugger instances.
what's my next step? i*checked google for this error message and found nothing relevant.
p.s.: flash-plugin is, of course, the latest release:
flash-plugin-10.1.102.65-release.i386
Firefox refuses to recognize the upgrade--in existing user accounts only! I created a new account & Firefox picked the upgrade right up. I'm ready to reinstall Firefox or start with all new user accounts--but either option seems to be extreme overkill.

after running an upgrade chromium browser shockwave flash plugin crashed! if you have the same problem i have a workaround. firstly open firefox goto a website that uses flash (not videos) i used bbc iplayer, then right click and click on "settings..." the left most tab shows the "enable hardware acceleration" tickbox. untick it
then close and reopen chromium and go back to a flash site e.g. videos and test it is working. the reason this worked for me is that there is a bug in either googles chromium or the unix/x11 build of shockwave flash or my graphics card drivers. there seems to sevral bug reports regarding this on the net [url]. flash could be a little slower now it doesn't have the hardware accelerating it. so maybe the setting could be re-enabled in the future?
Since the last 4 update.. I Been waiting for this to be fix. I can't watch anything without have major problem. I get lest then 3 sec into any video. Then it just jump to were my load point of the video. Almost two week of waiting for this to be fix. Cuz some how my updater form the last 4 Was the reason it went down....

After restarting Firefox, the fist page reads: "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now." The link leads to Adobe site, which offers me Flash Player version 10.0.32.18. All is fine so far, excluding the fact that I already have this player:
[root@pc ~]# rpm -qa | grep flash
flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release.i386
Just for the record, on "aboutlugins" page Firefox confirms I do have the correct player version:
Shockwave Flash
File name: libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
Does it mean Firefox does not detect correctly the Flash plugin version? Or am I missing something?
Running graphical software update, fc13. Attached are screenshots, which appear in sequence. The first seems to be asking if I trust the source, Adobe. (The Help for this window says I can go to the adobe website to confirm details of the signing key, which I will do if there is not a simpler fix.) If I respond in affirmative to the first window I get the failure window, second shot, with traceback.
