Apr 14, 2011I've been using Eclipse PDT with Zend Debugger to debug my PHP web scripts for a while, but after installing Ubuntu 10.04, I've been having issues setting up the development environment again.
I have installed Apache 2.2.16 and PHP 5.2.14 manually.
Eclipse was installed from the Synaptic Package Manager. I installed the Zend debugger and PDT for Eclipse under Eclipse's Help -> Install New Software.
Yet whenever I try to debug a web script it executes the script without stopping at any of my breakpoints. The debug window immediately shows the debug session terminated.
The end of my php.ini file located in /usr/local/lib says:

May 4, 2010I've just updated from 9.10 to 10.04. Everything seems to run fine except for zend optimizer which is throwing "Zend Optimizer not installed" error. I went to php.ini and the following line is still there

I figured out that this has something to do with the Java Media Framework, which is installed. So I played a little with JMStudio. But this dosen't work, too. It doesn't matter which sample rate I chose. I always receive the following message.

The only audio device I can chose is the JavaSound audio capture. I'm logged in as root.

Networking :: Can't Install Mac80211 Framework / Solve This?
Jan 26, 2011I tried installing the mac80211 framework on ubuntu 10.10 but after i install it and restart my system , none of my network connections work.
i found a solution to that problem which is a very weird solution. because none of the network connections are working . i try to activate the wireless driver from the System->Administration->Additional Drivers. But it fails , but after it fails my wired network connection comes back online. and then i have acccess to the internet . After that i activate the wireless driver again and it works.
This is obviously the worst possible solution ever. So what i don't understand is why the mac80211 framework is causing these problems. after applying my "solution" i thought of checking the modules installed on my system using lsmod and i see mac80211 there. i don't understand why it is still there after i executed the "sudo make uninstall" command . code...

Programming :: Coding Dilemma: Build Application With PHP Framework?
May 7, 2009I've been a PHP developer for about 6 years now - the last two years I have been pretty inactive though. Just recently though, I have been reading resources on all the different programming patterns (Factory, Singleton, Registry, Observer, MVC, etc) to try and get my head around good programming techniques. For myself though I find that I can only truly understand how these methods work when I am forced to do them myself.I have a large project I am doing at my workplace (me only) that involves building a very complex PHP application.
I would like to know your professional opinion; should I spend the extra time to program this PHP application myself and really, properly learn all these different programming patterns? Or, should I just build on top of a PHP framework like the Zend Framework for speed's sake (and flexibility/features)?
I have found understanding exactly how the Zend Framework works hard, just because I haven't been exposed to using these programming patterns myself. I hate that - I want to fully understand exactly what is happening in my application and know exactly how each part relates to others.

Fedora :: Login Missing After Apache / Zend Server Installation
Jan 9, 2011I am new to Linux. I installed some weeks ago Fedora 14 via burnt iso file downloaded from official Fedora site. It was working perfectly like a charm for me until yesterday when I tried to install zend server for PHP. During my first try of installation of zend server it corrupted out my apache server and I lost apache on http://localhost. I removed all "zend-server" like stuff from "Add Remove Software" screen. Installed again apache 2 in the form of LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql Php) via terminal. Apache installed correctly and started workeing again ok on localhost. Then again I tried to install zend server from install.sh file in downloaded zend server installation. It showed me after a while like "zend server installed successfully".
I shut down my pc thinking everything is ok now. Today when I started my system, it shows me boot screen of Fedora, I select fedora and then it shows me balloon filling up for around 5-7 secs. Then all of a sudden a black screen appears up with a cursor blinking at its top left and then nothing else happens further. I cannot find login screen to my desktop anymore. I remember one thing that during reinstallation of apache from terminal, I set following command like "chkconfig --level 235 httpd" (I guess that's what I have written as per some online tutorial for LAMP). Is that cause of mine problem ot its something else?

I have just installed zend server ce php 5.3, and I am having trouble getting it to work. When I log in to the admin interface, it told me it couldn't start the webserver, so I go to restart apache, and it gives me this:* Starting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/apache2/sitesenabled/zendserver_gui.conf:Invalid command 'php_admin_flag', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configurationThis has to do with php_mod some how... but I am not sure how to fix this, or where to start, since I am relatively new to actually setting up apache.I thought this might have something to do with libapache2-mod-php... so I went to reinstall it, and ran this:

Jan 19, 2010We are trying to set up a NIS server on a CentOS system. We need to have a NIS server which can provide NIS authentication to a couple of clients. We are practically new to all this stuff.
Just googled to find some ideas about installing ypserv and ypbind and portmapper. We did all that and also started them successfully. But now the clients are not able to join to the NIS domain . The error log states "YP_DOMAIN NOT BOUND".
I guess we have not entered the /etc/yp.conf, /etc/hosts files properly. Please let us know the detailed steps to setup a NIS server .
Also, please let us know what entries should go into the different /etc/<file_names>? What is meant by HOSTNAME in the /etc/hosts file?
Is there any other files which need to be changed? Are we missing any steps?
Also to add-on, while executing the ypinit command we faced the following error:

It works in sniff and packet log mode but i cannot seem to set up IDS mode correctly. There is alot of different info on the net but not much help.
