Fedora Hardware :: Use A Bridge So A KVM Virtual Machine Can Be Exposed Directly To The Network?

Jan 5, 2010

I'm having issues with my GigE Marvell NIC. The problems have started recently. Anytime I push network bandwidth over ~9MB/s, I loose all network connectivity. Stopping the network, rmmod'ing and modprobe'ing the sky2 module and then starting the network again does not resolve the issue (even though eth0 dissapears and then comes back). The only non-standard configuration (as far as desktops go) in my network is that I use a bridge so a KVM virtual machine can be exposed directly to the network. I'm currently testing the problem to see if it exists outside of the bridge.

Ubuntu Installation :: Saved Home Directory To Another Machine, And Proceeded To Install From A 9.10 USB Disk \ Error: Out Of Memory?

Mar 16, 2010

I've been running my Dell Mini 9 with the latest alpha for 10.04 since January, but over the weekend I botched things pretty badly and decided to go back to 9.10.I saved my home directory to another machine, and proceeded to install from a 9.10 USB disk. Things didn't go terribly well (I kept seeing "devkit-disks-daemon" crashing) but the install did complete. I shutdown the netbook, yanked the USB drive and powered it back on only to be greeted the grub menu. Choosing any option yields: Code:error: out of memoryPress any key to continue...I did a little searching in places like:HTML there is no mention of that problem there, and running though the command line instructions has the same results. (the linux command seems to be the problem)I've tried re-installed grub from the directions on the page but it is failing with:

Code:
cp: cannot stat '/mnt/boot/grub/ufs1.mod': Input/output error
When I look up that file I see:

CentOS 5 :: VMware Server 1 Error When Powering On Virtual Machine?

I am able to create a new Virtual Machine, but when I go to power on the VM in order to install the OS (windows server 2003), either the host crashes/reboots (with "Run in Debugging Mode" turned on) or the VM simply does not start (with that Debugging box unchecked) and in the log there is an error along the lines of VMware Server unrecoverable error (vmx)

Fedora :: Virtualbox Error 'Failed To Open Session For Virtual Machine Windows 7'

Jun 6, 2011

When i try to create a virtual machine using the Windows 7 Enterprise Evaluation iso file, everything goes as planned untill i click on the start button. when i click on it i get two error messages. the first: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 7. The virtual machine 'Windows 7' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1. Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908). The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary. i have installed the DKMS package, but when i try to run the command stated in the error message, i get another error message in the terminal:

[code]...

i have to install the driver that is specified (vboxdrv) but i do not know where to find it.

Jan 14, 2011

I would like to have on unix-like platforms, the same functionality as to Windows 7 Library folders (aka virtual folders) you see in Windows Explorer.Gnome Nautilus do that kind of virtual folders through saved search. But I want a system-wide solution, not a gnome-wide solution. Is there a tool that creates virtual folders from the concatenation of multiple search queries (the result of multiple find commands ?). The solution should index files for better performances and you should be able to define the default folder for copy operations.

Ubuntu Installation :: Where Are Driver And Machine Configurations Saved On Computer

Jun 20, 2010

Where are Driver & Machine Confirgurations Saved Ccomputer?

I just started using Ubuntu over the last several months and almost have it setup the way I need and want. I understand that a new version comes out every 6months or so and plan on upgrading when it comes out. I would like to be able to reformat and install the latest version, but retain all of my preferences, programs, device drivers, etc. so that it's all ready for the new version of Ubuntu. Up to date, I have spent so much time changing setting, finding drivers that fit and installing them that I don't want to start over with this.

How can I do this? I have made a seperate partition for /home. Will this help or is this folder only for to save my personal files?

CentOS 5 :: Build A Bootable System Image On An Attached Hard Disk On A Running Machine?

Feb 27, 2011

I would like to build a bootable system image on an attached hard disk on a running CentOS machine. The hard disk would be moved to a headless server, where only SSH access would be available. It seems that all the documented install methods assume that the installation runs on the taget machine. In this case, I would like to create a bootable system image of CentOS on a running host system. The new install mage would generally have a newer version of CentOS than the running host system where the image is created. Also, I would prefer
to do a text-based install.

The reason for all this is that I have network access to several remote machines. I can ask disks to be moved between machines, but I have no physical access. In order to do software testing, I would like to have several system disks with different installed CentOS versions. It would be easer if I could build the system disks on one single machine. The hardware an all machines is very nearly identical.

Programming :: UDP Error Unknow State - Fix It?

Sep 28, 2010

Well I got an strange error while I am programming. In fact, I am doing fast udp communication and testing the communication. In order to do it, I have done a program which test how many frame i manage to receive by changing the flow( between 800 Mb/s to 950Mb/s). The flow and number of Frame are defined in an other computer and every thing about that is alright.
While I am testing the number of Frame received 100 time, sometimes, I get 995 receveid et the next 1005 receveid instead of 1000. The delay for receiving frame lasts much more than the real delay.

So how could this error happen and how can I do for this error to not occur anymore?
