View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the few things that keeps me hanging onto my Windows partition is the Amazon.com MP3 Downloader. There's a way to download Debian 5, Ubuntu 9.04, OpenSUSE, and Fedora packages, but they've never worked in Debian-based distro's that I've used in the past (Ubuntu, Mint, Crunchbang).Has anyone found a way around this that I haven't found yet?

View 2 Replies View Relatedjust wondering what others are using to find and find and download new music. I'm also curious to know of other alternatives to Nicotine+, which I've been using for a little while. I've recently found a nice little widget called Seesu, which is great so far. It lets you search up bands and listen to their songs, and you can download the .mp3 for free afterwards if you like it. Anyway, enough of my pseudo-advertising.
What do you all do to find new music? Are torrent clients like Vuze the way to go, or is software like Nicotine+ better suited for the job? Perhaps you prefer the way of sites like Bandcamp, or by downloading from various online music stores. In any event, it'd be interesting to see how you all go about building onto your playlists.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot use any torrent programs because nothing will download. Every figure will sit at '0' indefinitely...forever! I can boot up my Windows XP install and it will start within a few seconds. I am just trying to figure out what's going on. Another problem is that my LXDE desktop doesn't seem to pick up every application I install. It doesn't go in the menu. I tried Torrent but it didn't go in the menu. I would start it via CLI but I'm not sure what to type. I thought there might be a security issue but that's only speculation.
I know that ports are supposed to be set via the router settings but I'm sharing the router. I might go to a relative's home and try to work on the problem there. I can go in the router there. But, I can have nothing set and just start downloading with default settings in Windows so I thought it can't be a ports problem. Unless? I'm at a loss and have no other theories. Debian and other distros want you to download their OS via torrent so to not even have it work.
I've been trying to download the torrent for i386 and I keep getting this for some reason

This is my saved image file from debian.org cd/netinst: debian-507-i386-netinst.iso.torrent

Please suggest a bit torrent client for Debian which is having optional feature of shutting down the PC when download gets completed (as in BitTorrent, MuTorrent of Windows).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking on trying Debian, I searched through their website and I went to the download site and I see there are 5 dvds torrent files? Which one should I download? I mean is debian that heavy that i need 5 dvds to get everything installed? By the way is there a kde version? I want kde.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a nice Torrent tracker for linux. My distro is Debian. Something simple and secure.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running on debian squeeze 6.0.2. I have been using it for the last id say 3 weeks and really am enjoying it.
I generally use transmission-gtk to share files over the internet. Normally I seed torrents at 110-160kb/s for hours at a time. However after messing around with firestarter my upload speed for seeding torrents rarely peaks over 70kb/s. I have purged firestarter with no success of my regular upload speed, and am very confused as to what happened. I also notice sometimes when it will get to about 70kb/s it will immediately drop down to the 20-30kb/s range.
For incoming bittorrent connections I use port 37294. I have set port 37294 to be allowed in my firewall, and forwarded in my router (since purging firestarter did not help I just reinstalled it).
I have also read allowing ports 6881-6889 is important, but I have never done that in my history of using torrents, and I have never experienced a decrease in UL speed like this.
Have I done something incorrect? I have never had this issue on other machines?
What's the point of checking if my file was tampered (as it says in the debians page [URL] ....) if the signatures are downloaded over http? Didn't the recent incident with Linux Mint had cleared our mind about these things?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a torrent client (I don't know which is best for Linux Mint).
I've tried Bit Torrent and Ktorrent.
When I download these files they come like something that reads: ktorrent-4.0.3.tar.bz2
I open the folder and it contains a bunch of files that I have no idea what to do with.
I've been a Windows user all of my life, so I'm basically used to just being able to install software within a few clicks.
I guess what I want to know here is how I am supposed to install ANY software on Linux.
I have Linux Mint (If that makes a difference).
how to download torrent file in opensuse 11.1 ....kindly inform me detailed procedure
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you start a transmission then shutdown unintentionally, what happens to transmission? This hasn't happened recently, but the question sticks in my mind. I was downloading 2 files. I opened raw package which, at the time I didn't have BT or FDM or any other type of transmission at that point I shutdown system. I'm assuming it picked up after restarting computer. Anyway what I really want to know is if I only shutdown os and not the transmission, when does it actually stop?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMaybe some torrent client for Linux can understand the metadata generated by a Windows client. Or maybe there is a Web/Desktop client that works in both systems. Is there any way to do that?I use uTorrent for Windows, and I haven't used any torrent client on my Ubuntu 11.04 yet. But if the solution uses other client for Windows, it will work for me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been looking to get some torrent downloads running on school servers, but I obviously can't install a torrent client because I don't have root (and by extent, can't run anything requiring root privileges). Servers are running various versions of Red Hat (at least the x86_64 ones are, I don't want to recompile if I don't have to). Google has failed me thus far.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I read a discussion in /r/linux and someone mentioned a script that checks new messages in IRC channel (in irssi client) and if they contain announce urls for torrents, they are passed to a torrent client (rtorrent) for downloading. Sadly, I didn't bookmark it, nor I could find it now. Maybe someone has a similar script?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a torrentbox. The special thing about this torrent box is that it's custom built, it has Windows 7 installed and I have full control over it using TightVNC. At the moment I'm using uTorrent WebUI and FTP do download the files. But I'm thinking - When I download a 1,5 hour long video in 30 minutes, wouldn't it be theoretically possible to just WATCH the movie directly from the torrentbox? Obviously this can't be dont using FTP since it makes you download the entire file, BUT:
Is there some other way to fool your OS into thinking that this is a local folder, and get media players like VLC or GOM player to play video files directly? This would be a monumental time- and space saver for me.(I have both Windows and Linux Mint on my PCs)
I downloaded a movie using torrent in ubuntu 10.04. After completion when I played that movie in totem or VLC its showing use windows media player. How can I play the movie in ubuntu-linux.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhas anyone been successful in using the Amazon MP3 downloader on 11.2? It does no longer work because it wants specific (old) versions of libboost*:
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1001 > /usr/bin/amazonmp3
/usr/bin/amazonmp3: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_filesystem.so.1.36.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1002 > locate libboost_filesystem
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem-mt.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.39.0
I notified Amazon about this, and they said they do not know if or when there will be a running version of the MP3 downloader available and without it there is no way to download any MP3 from Amazon. They gave me back my money and recommended to buy elsewhere....
Does anyone know if installing the old version of libboost (from 11.1) will work? What else, aside from amazons downloader, does use libboost*? So what app might fail if I install the old version of libboost suitable for the downloader?
How do I get Amazon (mp3) downloader to work with FC12 x64? Is there a better place to purchase MP3 that supports FC12?
