OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Using The Amazon MP3 Downloader On 11.2?

Dec 1, 2009

has anyone been successful in using the Amazon MP3 downloader on 11.2? It does no longer work because it wants specific (old) versions of libboost*:

[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1001 > /usr/bin/amazonmp3
/usr/bin/amazonmp3: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_filesystem.so.1.36.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1002 > locate libboost_filesystem
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem-mt.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.39.0

I notified Amazon about this, and they said they do not know if or when there will be a running version of the MP3 downloader available and without it there is no way to download any MP3 from Amazon. They gave me back my money and recommended to buy elsewhere....

Does anyone know if installing the old version of libboost (from 11.1) will work? What else, aside from amazons downloader, does use libboost*? So what app might fail if I install the old version of libboost suitable for the downloader?

General :: Music Downloader Of Choice?

Jan 26, 2011

just wondering what others are using to find and find and download new music. I'm also curious to know of other alternatives to Nicotine+, which I've been using for a little while. I've recently found a nice little widget called Seesu, which is great so far. It lets you search up bands and listen to their songs, and you can download the .mp3 for free afterwards if you like it. Anyway, enough of my pseudo-advertising.

What do you all do to find new music? Are torrent clients like Vuze the way to go, or is software like Nicotine+ better suited for the job? Perhaps you prefer the way of sites like Bandcamp, or by downloading from various online music stores. In any event, it'd be interesting to see how you all go about building onto your playlists.

OpenSUSE :: .torrent Files Won't Open With Utorrent

Aug 25, 2010

I have utorrent running on wine without issue. I click on the utorrent.exe and it opens and runs great. My problem is that even after setting .torrent files to open with utorrent (instead of transmission which is the defualt) and then try to open them NOTHING happens. I have to go into utorrent and open the torrent files. This is kind of a pain in the butt cause I want to be able to download and run them from my browser so after the download is finished it gets loaded into utorrent.

General :: Installing Software - Torrent Client ?

Oct 1, 2010

I am trying to install a torrent client (I don't know which is best for Linux Mint).

I've tried Bit Torrent and Ktorrent.

When I download these files they come like something that reads: ktorrent-4.0.3.tar.bz2

I open the folder and it contains a bunch of files that I have no idea what to do with.

I've been a Windows user all of my life, so I'm basically used to just being able to install software within a few clicks.

I guess what I want to know here is how I am supposed to install ANY software on Linux.

I have Linux Mint (If that makes a difference).

General :: Torrent Or Transmission Started But Uncompleted?

Dec 21, 2010

If you start a transmission then shutdown unintentionally, what happens to transmission? This hasn't happened recently, but the question sticks in my mind. I was downloading 2 files. I opened raw package which, at the time I didn't have BT or FDM or any other type of transmission at that point I shutdown system. I'm assuming it picked up after restarting computer. Anyway what I really want to know is if I only shutdown os and not the transmission, when does it actually stop?

Is there any way to do that?I use uTorrent for Windows, and I haven't used any torrent client on my Ubuntu 11.04 yet. But if the solution uses other client for Windows, it will work for me.

General :: Windows 7 - Properly Stream Media From Torrent Box *without* Transcoding?

Jan 29, 2011

I have a torrentbox. The special thing about this torrent box is that it's custom built, it has Windows 7 installed and I have full control over it using TightVNC. At the moment I'm using uTorrent WebUI and FTP do download the files. But I'm thinking - When I download a 1,5 hour long video in 30 minutes, wouldn't it be theoretically possible to just WATCH the movie directly from the torrentbox? Obviously this can't be dont using FTP since it makes you download the entire file, BUT:

Is there some other way to fool your OS into thinking that this is a local folder, and get media players like VLC or GOM player to play video files directly? This would be a monumental time- and space saver for me.(I have both Windows and Linux Mint on my PCs)
