Ubuntu Networking :: Failed To Detect / Scan The Bandluxe Gsm Modem
Mar 12, 2010
I just bought 3G modem bandluxe c170. The modem come without driver. I tried to active ppp dialer by "sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf" but it failed to detect/scan the modem. install this modem? I am installing on Acer Aspire 4520 (AMD) and ubuntu 9.10.
I have a Bandluxe C120 HSDPA modem. I used to work with it with previous ubuntu versions. First I goto windows and set the radio tab to 3G only using that managing software(which only works for windows) and then to reboot with Ubuntu and work with the modem. If there is no 3G coverage modem get disconnected because it was set to 3G only mode. But with new ubuntu 10.04 when 3G signal get week the modem change to 3G first else GPRS mode. After that because 3G signal is week in my area it never catch up with HSDPA. So I need to reboot with windows and set radio mode to 3G again. So what I need is a way to set that 3G only with in Ubuntu. Is there a way??
I've got a wireless problem on my laptop (dell inspiron 6400).I don't know when exactly and why, but every time I watch a video on ..... or allostreaming, after a while (a few minutes), my wireless disconnect and it's impossible to get back any connexion. The only solution I have is to reboot my computer.
the command : iwconfig shows : Code: lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:"Callalc" code.... Dec 18 18:33:18 yannick-laptop wpa_supplicant[1390]: Failed to initiate AP scan.
It seems that they are not shown under xev ...Someone knows if old scanner, can be detected in terms of button pressing ?[URL]button pressing does not show up into deamon.log
I have an internal cextant modem in my Dell Inspiron 630m laptop, with 11.04 knatty running. How do I configure knatty to detect and run my modem, as I need it to dial into equipment to do remote diagnostics
A problem with kppp. It will not detect modem after a fresh install. It did last week before Ubuntu 11.04 turned up its toes, but when it worked it was weird. It found the usb modem on /dev/ACM0 as user but /dev/usb/ACM0 if logged in as root. Now it will not open modem at all. Gnome ppp has no problem and wvdial correctly identifies it.
Ok, so a few weeks back my 6 year old daughter wanted to scan a picture she had made for a school project, I hadn't used my AGFA snapscan e20 for years, Infact it had been in a box for more than 5 years.
anyhoo I thought I'd give it a go and with some doubt plugged it in. Much to my joy and my daughters joy it just worked, there was life in the old dog still So two or three weeks on after I've installed a kernel update as well as others on my daughters Dell Optiplex GX620 Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (2.6.32-30-generic #59-Ubuntu SMP), my multi operating system literate 6 year old has drawn another master piece and popped it in the scanner only to recive the following error from simple-scan
What I'd like to know is, 1, How do I remove the entry for the scanner in simple-scan (ahh the old reinstall never fails) 2, why am I getting nothing back from my tail 3,Why did it break in the first place? 4, how to fix it (if not with a reinstall)
Please help as I don't want to break the "My Dad can fix anything" illusion my daughter has just yet.

I'm trying to install stable Squeeze from HD "!! Scan hard drives for an installer ISO image. The quick scan for installer ISO images, which look only in common places, did not find an installer ISO image, but it may take a long time. Do full search for installer iSO image? [YEs} No kernel modules were found. This probably is due to a mismatch between the kernel Version available in the archive If you're installing from a mirror, you can work around this problem by choosing to install a different version of Debian. The install will probably fail to work if you continue without kernel modules"

find and install modem driver for the Alcatel X200 USB modem?
I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.
i'm running Kubuntu karmic and i've been using a 3G Huawei E1552 modem to connect to the internet, everything was going well when suddenly my modem stopped working. I've tried reconfiguring everything, i even reinstalled kubuntu from scratch with no success. Here's a part of my /var/log/debug

I'm trying to install ubuntu-10.04-server-amd64 from a 2gb usb stick. I used Universal-USB-Installer-v1.7.7 to put the contents of the iso onto the usb disc, the installer boots fine but it always fails at "Detect and mount CD-ROM". Any suggestions? I thought about trying to mount the usb stick (/dev/sdb) to the where the installer is looking for the CD-ROM but I don't really know where that is.
I had Ubuntu 10.10. Now in the free space remaining in my hard disk, I installed Fedora 15. But unfortunately, Fedora failed to detect ubuntu. Now when I start my computer, grub automatically loads fedora and also doesnt display the boot menu. How can I boot ubuntu and let the grub display a menu of operating system choices?
I have RAID1.. throgh SATA cable..One of my HDD got failed to detect...hen i chkd other hdd is detecting in BIOS but i couldn't boot.. It says GRUB Hard Disk Error.
I installed squeeze on my eeepc 1015ped and downloaded the correct firmware-brcm80211 drivers but every time I scan for my network using iwconfig wlan0 scan or wicd, my computer completely freezes. I previously had a solid install running xmonad, and wicd was working like a charm (using the same broadcom driver) but i tinkered too much with it and decided to do a fresh install. I haven't quite run into a problem like this before.
scan my network and check for files within a LAN, in a mixed Linux and Windows environment.Something like LAN spy for Windows. Is there a package or program like that for Linux?
I have a Lexmark interpret S405 all in one. I got it to work as a wireless printer with the downloads provided by Lexmark. I installed simple-scan (sane) to enable scanning. Simple scan works, since it sees another all in one printer in our house and is able to scan. In addition, simple-scan does work on the Lexmark when I hook it up with a USB cable. HOWEVER, for some reason simple-scan does not see my Lexmark, despite the fact that it is seen as a wireless printer. So, the following discrepancy is present
a) My Lexmark is recognized by my computer as a wireless printer
b) Simple-scan does work, since it recognizes and scans another all in one and it does work with my Lexmark when connected with a USB cable
c) Nevertheless Simple-scan does not recognize my Lexmark all in one wirelessly. My question to this distinguished form is: How can I make simple-scan recognize my Lexmark wireleslsy?
I bought this wireless card because alot of people said it worked out of the box and it almost worked... Ubuntu recognizes it and the wireless module is activated I just can't seem to scan for networks or connect to them... So I am listing some outputs for you guys and hopefully there is an easy fix.
I realize that Ubuntu recognizes the card, but I'm not sure why it's not picking up any networks that are around and says "disconnected", even though I've made sure that the wireless network light is enabled on the netbook.
To use my home broadband, I am connected to a wireless router. How can I scan for other devices connected to that router? I am using Ubuntu 10.10.Is there both a GUI and CLI method? The IP of my router is URL... Please rename this thread title from 'How can I scan for other devices connected to that router?' to 'How can I scan for other devices connected to my router?
i have a hp 6500 e709a printer. have configured for network printing and would like to use the scan facility.i have tried to scan from the printer but it does not find the computer. the hp documents mention advanced firewall information on incoming udp ports and tcp ports etci believe it is with my machine as my son has a windows box with the hp software and i have managed to scan from that machine.
My computer recognizes the printer and has no trouble printing out any documents. The printer can scan papers to a memory card and makes copies just fine too. But when I select "Scan to PC" I get the message "Try scan from computer or see documentation. Press OK." Of course, the printer included next to no documentation, only the basic plug-it-in-and-turn-it-on instructions. Simple Scan said that it did not find a scanner.
