View 9 RepliesI have just upgraded my opensuse from 11.2 to 11.3 and can not find KMPlayer.I have searched the different repositories and it is not to be found in either KDE or Packman repository. I can however find it in the old 11.1 repository of both KDE and Packman.KMPlayer is the only video player I have used that is able to play my 1080p movies without problem.

I tried to install VirtualBox by using the "Help->Check For Updates" in VirtualBox and then downloading the rpm. When it finished, it popped up a huge error window that was too tall for the screen (and I couldn't copy the text). It wouldn't install. It said something about how the files in virtualBox 3.2.6 conflicted with those in 3.0.12.
How do I upgrade to the new version?
I was looking in the Software Manager, and I noticed there is no gnome-ppp. Does anyone know anywhere where I can find a suitable package?I prefer gnome-ppp to kppp, but if there are no gnome-ppp packages available, could someone lead me to the source? Or perhaps show me an alternative ppp front-end?

I just tried to install lightning and it complained that I wasn't running the right/latest version of TB so I added the Mozilla repository, ran a check and nothing. So I checked out the Mozilla site and they have a version 6 for download. Why does Suse not want to update from the current version 3?

View 3 Replies View RelatedopenSUSE 11.3 question:
I have a PCI parallel port adapter (Syba SD-PEX-NM1P) that should "only" need to be told what ports and irq to use with parport_pc but, for the life of me, I can't make it happen. Using lspci -v, I can see it uses irq 19 (it that 19 or 0x19???) and ports 0xc800, 0xc400, 0xc000, 0xb800, 0xb400 (all 8 bit), and 0xb000 (16 bit). This is confirmed by the YaST2 hardware information tool.
Doing modprobe parport_pc io=0xb000 irq=0x19 should do something useful but I get no result at all. There is no /dev/lpt1 - a /dev/parport(n - where n is a digit) shows up on occasion but I can't figure out when it appears or why. cat foo >& /dev/parport(n) - where foo contains "hello world <FF>" doesn't do anything on the printer. Using the YaST2 printer tool, even the HP tool (the printer is an HP LJ-5P), is fruitless.
For some reason is not updating. Not sure why, Use KDE for most everything, but have some GTK apps installed. Not sure where to look to get past this error message. I've checked in yast and all the updates are there. did a rpm --rebuilddb, but this hasnt resolved the issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently switched over to gnome desktop environment with gnome-shell preview as my compositing manager.Everything is good except for this process xfce4-notifyd which autostarts somehow..
The problem with this process is it acts as the default notification daemon over-riding gnome-shell's built-in notification support and tends to display balloon popups on the top right corner....If i kill this process everything is good.... But on restart it autostarts again somehow..I looked through the items in gnome-session-properties and also in these places:
Code:
/usr/share/autostart
/etc/xdg/autostart
But couldn't find any entries related to xfce4-notifyd.
After digging around in vain in my local .kde4 I am unable to find where the RSSNow plasmoid stores the feeds. It apparently wants to keep them secret forever.
(Man - Plasmoids are okay, but the utter lack of documentation for them makes them far less useful than then could be.)
I downloaded some application for Linux (program microcontroller LPCXpresso). When I trying to install it some error appears
Code:
Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories:
/installkitvfs/lib/tcl /installkitvfs/lib/tcl8.6 /home/damon/src/installkit-1.3.0/out/lib/tcl8.6 /media/lib/tcl8.6 /lib/tcl8.6 /media/library /library /tcl8.6b1.2/library /tcl8.6b1.2/library
This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.I think Tcl is installed, maybe I need to reinstall it if so, how? What I need to do?
I had dual screen config (large desktop) going on 11.2 with proprietary nvidia driver without problems. After upgrade to 11.3 this didin't work. I was not able to find a way to configure nouveau drivers, and it was stuck in the 'twinview' mode, so decided to install binary nvidia instead (the 'hard way'). Took me a while to figure out 'nomodeset' thing, but in the end drivers were installed successfully. The problem now is that only monitor displays anything, and I can't find the nvidia control panel to activate second monitor and extend the desktop there.
Used to be able to install nvidia control panel easily in 11.2 with one-click install, but for 11.3 the page says that the one-click install buttons aren't ready yet (SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE) So my question is 'how to get dual screen going and extend my desktop to second screen using 11.3 and nvidia 210 card' ? And I don't care whether it's nouveau or proprietary drivers, as long as it's easy to configure and it works.
I am trying to update four OpenSUSE 10.3 servers. This worked once on one server, but I have been unable to repeat that success. I use yast's Online Update to select repositories, but at the end of the repository refresh they keep coming back with 'No active update source is available. Exit Online Update now?' I get this error:
Download failed: File /repodata/repomod.xml not found on media: [URL]
It appears to connect to remote repositories, but always fails. Is it realistic for me to expect to update 10.3, or is it a lost cause? I am not ready to jump to 11 yet, but I am required to update them. I am a newb, so I am not clear on the process. Are package versions locked in place for specific versions of OpenSUSE? If so, how can I find out what the final versions were for 10.3 so that I can at least tell my auditors that they are as up-to-date as they can be?
I have ldap authentication working and the machine is joined to the domain, but I have to append the domain name to my login every time I log in. example: user@domain.I've been unable to find away to log in without appending the domain name to the username.
