Ubuntu Networking :: Missing Network Options On The Task Bar?

I am running 10.04 and have recently had an issue where a powercut shut my computer down unexpectedly. Since this all the options from the network/connection part of my taskbar have been removed.I have run the OS from a boot disk and the same problem occurs. I have updated and re-added the mobile broadband but still nothing appears and as yet i have been unable to connect to the internet again since the powercut.am still learning everything (very slowly) so i apologise if this has been previously solved but i can't seem to find it on the forums.
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Remix on a Toshiba Netbook NB300. After performing an upgrade I find myself unable to connect to my wirless network and have lost the wifi icon in the task bar. Ethernet connectivity is however working.

I need to take to bring back wireless connectivity to my netbook and restore the wifi icon to the task bar.
First off late me state that i know nothing about ubuntu and i am try to help someone(my father) who knows even less lol. Last night the 13yr old little girl got on his computer and was playing around now the Task/Menu bar is gone and he doesnt know how to get it back.... or do anything else without it. ive told him that this is probably just a simple setting but im not there to play with his computer to figure ubuntu out for him thus im forced to seek wisdom here. I need idoit lvl instructions on how to reenable this bar can anyone help?
I recently lost my Min Max and close buttons on pretty much every window. This seemed to start when I upgraded to 10.10. I did what was told in another thread on missing task bars. I managed to get them all back except on Firefox. I tried the preferences, double clicking up there, right clicking.
I installed HP Linux Imaging and Printing system yesterday and since then my panels are missing, is there a way to access the config files to correct this?
I am in the process of learning Mint, but need help with a missing Menu and task bar. I have obviously deleted something, but have no idea what.Terminal is a problem, as it does not appear correctly but enlarged and incomplete.I do have a dock, with a number of icons and an application icon.
i have missing icons for the computer icon and mozilla icon and the start menu and and task bar are gone as well. i tried running the kicker and plasma command but will not execute type the command after pressing alt + f2. im running kde 4.3.
I am running Fedora 13 and using Ndiswrapper with my pci wireless card. my router is a netgear wgr614v9 wireless router with wpa2-psk. When I try to connect to my network the only options I see for security are dynamic WEP (802.1x) and WPA &WPA2 Enterprise and for authentication all I see is TLS LEAP Tunneled TLS and Protected EAP (PEAP). I can connect to my network when I drop security on the network but other wise I am stuck. I have been trying to fix it for about a week now by myself to no avail
I installed 10.4 netbook, but it doesn't have the same panel as previous versions. I like things like multiple desk tops, main menu, and placing the clock in the center, but I cannot find anyway to adjust this stuff. Is there a solution?
Title pretty much says it. As you can see from my screenshot, my effects list is far shorter than it's supposed to be, a quarter the size of what I had on my hardy desktop. The main effects that are driving me insane not having are 3D windows, e.g. windows hover above the desktop cube in order of use, and water sloshing around in the cube as I rotate it. Are these now options under an effect? I couldn't find them anywhere. Running 32 bit lucid on a laptop with a good graphics card.
I am new to Ubuntu and am trying to learn. Using 10.10 on HP notebook. The Hardware option is missing from the menu. System / Administration / Hardware is not there. System / Administration / * all seem to be there just no hardware option.
I was trying to make Gnome display the date in a better format. I tried using gconf-editor as described in the thread at [URL], but I also found that apps > panel> default_setup > applets > clock had no prefs item.
Unfortunately, the solution which worked for quixote (stop running as root) didn't help me as I was running as the only account I've set up on the system, and all of the files in ~/.gconf are owned by that user.
Does anyone know what else could cause options to vanish like that? I'm running Gnome 2.32.0.
Ok under the power control icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen I have the options to hibernate and sleep, but I do not have shut down, or log off. If I control-alt-delete I have shut down, hibernate, suspend and restart. Also I am currently using 11.04 on an HP Dv6 laptop. I previously installed Ubuntu 11.04 on here and it worked perfectly. To address yet another interesting "bump" I installed this and on my launcher I have an applet to "Install RELEASE" but, I have the latest installation of 11.04 on here.
I thought running an update from my OpenSuse 11.3 dvd would solve my problem, but It doesn't; I'm not given the option to choose a gui environment. It leaves me at a prompt here. /home//
Im running Ubuntu Studio 10.04 LTS. I've looked for the network manager all over and its just not here. Is there some way to get it? I cant connect to the internet at all.
Using LTS 10.04. How do I change my boot splash and login screen? (in the past I would). It was just system->admin->login screen but all the options are missing! See attached screen shots.

Ubuntu changed something and I don't what it is (I cant even figure what to search for) - The first screen is my desktop system->admin->login screen - The 2nd is what should be there. system->admin->login screen
I think the title says it all. I want a quick way to crop images whilst retaining exif data (rules out shotwell) so when I upgraded lucid to natty (via MM) I kept f-spot. However when I click the 'edit image' button in eye of gnome f-spot still opens but it has no 'edit' or 'metadata' options in the sidepane so I can't do a quick crop anymore. Why they are missing or how to put them back?
I am running Classic (No effects) Since I installed VBox a couple of days ago, I have just realized the Sound and Video options have disappeared from the Applications Menu.
Since installing 11.3 I've noticed that with certain Workspace themes the plasmmoids and panel have options missing: The theme in the screenshot is "Elegance" others have the same problem; "Oxyglass", "Heron" & "Aya". The panel has the resizing sliders missing. These were working ok in 11.2.
At first I use to have a Network manager applet for my wireless connection in the panel. But somehow it has gone missing from the panel. I am quite puzzle as to how it happen. So I just need to get it back so that I know whether or not it has been connected to my wireless router.

I don't exactly know how and when it disappeared, but I have not been able to get it back eversince. My Network manager is missing (it is usually has a short-cut on the desktop-bar, which are monitor pictures, next to the sound short-cut). Does anybody know how to activate it again (terminal-based command or etc)? See my attachment, i made a circle sign on the missing network-manager.
Using firefox on Ubuntu 9.04. when I click tools, options is not in the menu. How can I get it back? I have searched a lot but haven't found the answer.The tools menu contains. Web Search > Downloads > Add-ons > Error console > Page Info > Clear Private Data > manage Content Plug-ins.
The Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu 10.10 no longer has the option "Mark Packages by Task". In previous versions it was under the "Edit" menu.Is there a way to get it back or is it hidden in other menus?
I'm having problems with networking. I just installed Debian 6 SServer LAMP and it didn't autoconnect to internet. I plug in the internet to my eth0 (default) port, and I keep getting timeouts. I found that dhcp3-client was not installed and fixed that. My etc interfaces has this for eth0: Auto eth0 Iface eth0 inet dhcp What other packages or config do I need to make the internet work? It's missing something basic that wasn't setup properly. I do get the correct dns address to my isp provider when I check etc resolv.conf. It just can't dhcp discover.
After upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 all of a sudden, the task manager or task bar, keeps changing length. The individual window "buttons" themselves keep changing size - flashing even, and the space between them also changes. It is driving me nuts! The little system tray(?) icons no longer appear in the system tray, but all stacked on top of each other in the top left corner.
