Ubuntu Networking :: HP Dm 1-3025dx \ Compile A Module To Get The Wireless To Work?
Jul 24, 2011
This is solved go to page #2 for instructionshis link will help show my netbook wireless situation:http://wontek.com/laptops/laptops/hp...-3025dx-reviewA quick read of the article says I need to compile a module to get the wireless to work... ??? Now I'm lost... can anyone point me in the right direction to compile a module?? and what exactly would that be doing???I believe I need this wireless driver: Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adaptercomputer: HP dm 1-3025dxOS: Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook
I have a Toshiba Satellite 505D, and because of ACPI issues I had to compile a custom kernel. [URL] Everything works except the wireless is broken. My network card is a RTL8101E/RTL8102E. The driver is r8169. The new kernel does not load the wireless driver at boot up.At the terminal, I typed sudo modprobe r8169 to load the driver. Then I typed dmesg | grep -i r8169, and I got back the response
I've been trying to make/compile the driver for a wireless card. The card is usb, it's titled Micronext MN-WD550M and seems to use the rtl8712 driver.Firstly, though I did this once two years ago I seem to have completely forgotten how to install a driver in ubuntu.
Secondly, I'm not sure I have the right driver anyway since in the notes in the readme it says it is for i386 (I run amd 64). The driver is here [URL] Thirdly, after clicking through various readmes and documentation without feeling any more intelligent, I then tried using ndiswrapper to install a windows driver and ubuntu would crash if the usb wireless card was plugged in. Blarg.I feel like this should be so simple I'm going to make a clean installation of ubuntu 10.10 shortly (for various unrelated reasons) so anything I messed up with ndiswrapper should be back to normal.
I was going to buy a TP-link wireless router (802.11b/g/n) but while I was reading the consumer's reviews I saw some people were saying that they couldn't make it work with ubuntu. So, I'm starting wandering if there is somewhere any compatibility list? I mean if for instance TP-link or D-link would work with broadcom's chip. I would like to use my laptop's built-in wireless module which is HP Broadcom corp. BCM4306 802.11b/g. My laptop is a HP Pavilion zv6000.
i'm trying to compile a driver module on ubuntu 10.10 . initially i was getting a lot of include file errors. but then when i added the include path. but after doing that i was getting a series of errors which i have no idea how to solve and it wont fit in one page. i've followed the same way how it is given in the tutorials online but still i'm not able to get it done. Is there any simple method to do this? is there something that i shouldn't do.
1. Installed a fresh 10.10 and upgraded all packages (via Ethernet). 2. Downloaded latest drivers from ASUS webiste (DPO_RT3070_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.2_20100422) 3. Unpacked and tried to compile:
The wireless card is working with the driver rt2870sta, but I've read not all the capabilities of the device is unleash unless the native driver is used.
I'm trying to compile the bleeding-edge compat-wireless because I know there are some ath9k fixes in it because I use in on my Debian and Ubuntu machines; however, when I try and run make, I receive this error:
Code: make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.38.8-35.fc15.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop. make: *** [modules] Error 2
I have a driver source which includes linux/module.h.The following error occurred during compile.the kernel source is: 2.6.33.6-147.2.4fc13.i686the compiler is: gcc-4.4.4-2.fc13.i686

I am thinking about alternatives for VirtualBox (which i like, but the Oracle-story is making me think). After this thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=56314 I downloaded the vmware-player (manual, not with the download-manager ) and installed it. Oct 15 15:02:15.614: app-3078584000| Failed to compile module vmmon!
Using the rpmbuild to compile the kernel, every time the patches will be applied to the source code. So even if no changes are made to the source code and no patches are added to kernel.spec, the whole kernel will still be recompiled, wasting a lot of time
I want to switch my laptop from XP to Ubuntu, but right now, i cant risk installing it. i dont want to have it partitioned so i can dual boot, so for now i only run the try-it-out mode. Before i consider installing though, i want to see if i can get everything to work ahead of time, that way im not regreting instalation. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop, with 55GB hard drive and 516MB ram. So far, the trial mode is working great, but the wireless will not work. Ive tried to install the driver, but i am unable to do so. I have looked this up, and i have tried many things, and so far, none have worked.I was wondering if it was just part of the trial thing or not, but it is a Broadcom Wireless BCM4318 driver
i installed ubuntu along side of xp, and i cannot get my wireless to work. the drivers that are installed in xp work great, and i can access the internet, but do not work in ubuntu.
I have a Belkin Enhanced Wireless USB Network Adapter Model # F6D4050 v2. The drivers are for windows but the windows wireless drivers app doesnt work. I see a tutorial for a linksys that appears to have the same chipset, but I am not sure if any of the steps need to be modified, also my kernel is a bit different. Here is my kernel:
Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.
Can someone tell me how to correct the "Invalid module format"? I hope that correcting the "Invalid module format" error, I will not have the "Unknown symbol in module" error.
Note: I am using wlan1 for this module as I previously am online with the wlan0 network. The same error occurs if I use ./wlan0up.
I can't get my card Intel Wireless 5300 AGN to work. I'm running Slackware 13.1 and it's a full, fresh install.I get to show up with lspci -v:Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection...But it will not show up with 'ifconfig' which will only list the local loopback (yes we have have a eth problem as well but one thing at a time).
I have Centos5.4 loaded on a late 2008 MACBOOK Pro and would like to get wireless working. I've attempted to download the broadcom driver and create a driver module with no luck.
I've been experiencing a problem with Fedora in which when I enable Wireless in Fedora, Wireless networking does not work in windows. HOwever, when disabled, it works correctly. Windows claims it is "not able to find any networks to connect to"
EDIT: It seems that when wireless is disabled manually on fedora before shutdown, there are no problems in windows.
How to get my wireless to work. I'm currently running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Inspiron 2200. The wireless adapter I'm currently using is a Linksys WPC54G ver. 3.
When I enter iwconfig lo, eth0 and wmaster0 have no wireless extensions. wlan0 says
I tried following the instructions here:[url]
But when I enter sudo ifdown eth0 it says internet eth0 not configured. then wlan0 it acts like it doesn't even exist.
I'm very new to Ubuntu and Linux in general. I installed Ubunutu NBR on a HP Mini 2140. After some wireless issues and a bad decision, I deleted the ssb.ko files. Now the wireless won't work at all. How can I repair the SSB modules or reinstall those files?
I've installed Ubuntu 9.1 on my Acer Aspire One ZG5 that was previously running Win XP with the wireless working fine. In ubuntu, though, i can't get the wireless to work at all and I don't really even know how to troubleshoot it. I've opened a terminal and used sudo to update various packages, but still nothing. It does appear as though the system recognizes the card since I can configure it, but I'm not keen on playing wi8th the BSSID and MAC address stuff because I just don't have any confidence that it will change my situation. Has anyone had any success with this setup (ubuntu 9.1 and acer one)? Is there a step-by-step wireless troubleshooting/ configuration process that's generic to ubuntu?
Let me start off by saying that I'm a complete Linux-noob. I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm really enjoying it. I was planning to install it for quite a while now but now that I have my own computer, I actually could make it happen. That being said, it's a whole difference with Windows though and sometimes it's hard to find my way in this new system. My main problem is that I can't seem to get my wireless connection working. From what I've read online this problem is not uncommon with Ubuntu 9.10?
I tried searching for my wireless card drivers in 'System > Administration > Hardware Drivers' but that didn't really work out. It did find a wireless card driver but when I try to activate it, it returns an error message. All the other drivers seem to be installed so I can't really see what the problem is. Can anyone help me with this?BTW, I think I also have a problem with the graphics card driver. When I try to active the 'extra' desktop effects is says this can't be activate. I already tried installing Compiz and the Composite Manager.
I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a computer I can't get the wireless to work. I looked into it, and I believe the problem is that I don't have the right driver to work with the wireless card, but I wasn't able to tell what my wireless card is properly. And when I got the bcmwl-kernel-source package and installed it, the driver still didn't appear under "hardware drivers". Compounding the problem, I can't use any sudo commands for some reason because when it prompts me to enter the sudo password, the keys other than "enter" don't seem to work. I probably don't have the right information up there.
