I use to use amarok a lot back in the day and loved it. Saw that I could install it on ubuntu (which was a great suprise, since I though amarok was a KDE application).
Anyways, EVERY time I load amarok, I see it pop up for about 1 or 2 seconds and then my xserver (is that what it is called? the GUI portion of linux) crashes and restarts. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Open amarok, xserver crashes and restarts.
The other day I fully updated (by updating all in repository unconditionally) to KDE 4.4 final. After that it seems amarok crashes when I try to start it. Here's the "Developer Information" from the crash.
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and having trouble with Amarok. It crashes on on startup. I have read that the issue is not with Amarok but rather phonon. Is there a solution? Application: Amarok (amarok), signal: Segmentation fault [Current thread is 1 (Thread 0xb68cb950 (LWP 13047))]

I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, Amarok version 2.3.0, Using KDE 4.4.2 Whenever I start Amarok and try to play any song, amarok crashes, smetimes a few seconds of the music can be heard even if the Amarok window is no longer there. This is my yakuake code from starting Amarok to the crash, I don't really know where to start looking for an answer.
Suse 11.3 KDE 4.4 Amarok - Standard version that comes with 11.3 I start Amarok, which still worked fine yesterday and this morning. I get the Amarok splash screen and then it disappears and the Crash Handler with the following message appears.
When I launch amarok-2.4.0 under KDE 4.6 it alwasys crashes with the error message symbol lookup error: amarok: undefined symbol: _ZN7OcsData8addDonorERK7QStringRK12KAboutPerson. What is wrong here?
ecently (since upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10) being having problems with Amarok randomly crashing. There doesn't seem to be any pattern and it normally just disappears and music stops. Occasionally it comes up with the KDE crash tracker but it can't retrieve the debug information (although i do have amarok-dbg installed, not sure what else i need for that to work though)Anyway i have run it from the terminal and this is the output i got towards the end:
Code: amarok(7287)/kio (KIOJob) KIO::TransferJob::slotMimetype: mimetype() emitted again, or after sending first data!; job URL = KUrl("http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons
I'm currently on vacation, and noted that the kdenlive version on my laptop (running 64-bit openSUSE-11.3 with KDE-4.4.4) will crash when loading a kdenlive file that has an audio track previously saved.
ie one can no longer reload a project, after saving it, if one has an audio track in the project.
I note my desktop (just before I went on vacation) did not have this behaviour. Has anyone else encountered this?
When I get back from vacation, I'll compare the packages between the two (ie between laptop and desktop). I note these packages on my laptop, which may or may not be relevant.
After upgrading to KDE 4.6 (Factory repos) Amarok crashes every time I try to play a song. Changing between Gstreamer and Xine doesn't make any difference.
I have Suse 11.3 KDE and every time I opened an mp3 file, Amarok opened and closed immediately reporting a new bug everytime. So I followed this thread Amarok Not Launching I have uninstalled Amarok through Install/ Remove software. But I am not able to find this folder to delete, as mentioned in above post: Delete the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok
When I try to start amarok, I get a splash screen, and then it crashes with a segmentation fault. I have tried removing the amarok rpm's, and reinstalling it, but that didn't work out. I don't get enough information from the backtrace, but I also can't figure out which packages I need to get more debugging information. I have been subscribed to development repositories, so I guess I have some unstable packages on my system, but don't know which ones. So this is what I get: After starting amarok from Konsole, I get the following output:
I've recently been using amarok and liked it a lot. I unchecked the show system tray in configuration, restarted amarok and then checked it again. Now amarok crashes whenever I go into configuration or browse through local files. I have tried reinstalling and deleting the directory ~/.kde/share/apps but no use.
My amarok crashes everytime. I saw an similar problem posted at OpenSUSE 11.3: Amarok crashes on startup. And I suspect this is because of the nvidia drivers that I installed, just as is the case in the above mentioned thread. What should I do to overcome this now? Is there a solution posted? After I read the above thread, I deleted all the repositories except for the four. I had these following repositories prior:
When I attach my MP3 player (a Sony S series Walkman), Amarok crashes. It is a problem with libmtp, but I don't know how to resolve it. The player can connect as mass storage or mtp (note that connection mode is not selectable on the device), but Amarok automatically claims it as mtp and promptly crashes, if I connect the player without Amarok running and mount it as mass storage then start Amarok, it still claims it as MTP, crashes and blocks the device so it is no longer accessible as anything. I would just uninstall libmtp as I have no use for it, but Amarok requires it. The options as I see them: 1) get a version of libmtp that doesn't screw up with this device 2) stop Amarok claiming mtp devices (no settings for this - anything in config file?) 3) stop linux recognising this as an mtp capable device so Amarok doesn't try to claim it.
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
I'm Dual-booting XP with Ubuntu Karmic Koala, heres my other specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz family(15) model(4) stepping(4) GFX: Geforce 7800 GT (had problems with GFX when I first installed Ubuntu, I had to update my drivers) 2 GB RAM
This is a nearly fresh install of Karmic Koala, I've only installed whatever updates I needed, graphics card drivers, KPlayer, and Google Chrome. Because I prefer Chrome over Firefox I immediately went to download Chrome, and Firefox would get to the Chrome page and then crash. I then got the Chrome install file from another computer and installed it. Chrome will not even launch, so I go to search the problem in Firefox and it crashes on ANY link I click in Google Search. I also tried to directly type websites into the URL box: it loads the pages title (Ex. "Yahoo! Mail"), and crashes before displaying the page at all.
This is a very odd problem to me as I used the same disc to install dual-boot with Win7 and Ubuntu on my laptop which works perfectly, and now this happens to my desktop.
I have a strange problem which I've encountered for a long time but still weren't able to solve it. In openoffice writer, when clicking on extra->literature database the program immediately crashes. I encounter this problem with all the latest versions of Oo (3.2,3.1...) and on OpenSuse and on Kubuntu, so I guess it must be a widespread problem.
I have a native 64 bit 11.3 system with vmware 7.0x as an application. I have installed a win 7 guest which works fine 99% of the time. But if I try to plug usb headphones into my system after I boot win 7, it will crash entire system, but if I plug headphones into system before loading vmware, this does not happen. Is this a kernel issue?
I would like to play the MP3 files that are stored on my Linkstation NAS through Amarok but I can't get Amarok to play them. The only way I can get the files to play is through Dolphin or to copy them to my local drive and play them from there.
Does anyone know how I can get the files to play through Amarok? I thought it would be easy seeing as I can play movie files from the NAS using Dragon Player and edit photos stored on the NAS using GIMP. Why won't Amarok play ball?
how-to compile from source; based on this post [URL]with some new hints and modified patches. This works on Ubuntu (Gnome version) without the official repository version of Amarok installed.
Amarok's gone silent on me. It used to work fine until recently, even though I haven't done anything I can think of to change this apart from routine software updates. It is only happening to me.Other users on the machine are OK.I can play sound from other applications including Kaffeine, Skype and Audacious. The problem occurs with all file types I have tried, namely mp3 ogg and mpc.
Amarok looks like it's playing when I click play, in that the playback process bar is working and the time elapsed is displayed. Amarok appears as a client in the PulseAudio manager. The only thing I can see that might be odd, apart from the silence, is the big button near the top, level with and the same size as the play/pause button. I can't remember what this button is for. The symbol on it looks odd, as if an animated symbol for volume adjustment got caught on one particular frame. Clicking on this button does nothing either visually or functionally
How can I install Amarok 2.3.2 (recent version) in Ubuntu? I downloaded the source file and looked at the README file. It says I need to have some dependencies before installing. But since Amarok is for KDE, it would be frustrating to get all the dependencies correctly in Gnome. Or is there another way to do it?
I just made the switch back to Ubuntu from Kubuntu. Now I'm having problems running my favourite KDE app, that's Amarok.
Amarok regularly scans my collection, no problems with that. When I try and play any tracks they're not playing and Amarok scrolls through the playlist without playing anything. No error messages are displayed either (although I remember once I got some message related to phonon).
i am working with an old system that uses a BIOS meant for embedded systems. According to my coworkers this thing boot some version of debian about two years ago. currently I have used there old image and a new one I made of the latest Debian stable build. both images fail to get passed grub.
to be clear the BIOS simply replies "loading grub" takes ten minutes and then crashes.
has anyone ever had trouble with grub crashing systems? this problem seems odd since is did boot with this two years ago and i still have that image.
