Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox Shows That The Runtimes (Time) Of Dozens Of My Mp3's Are Now 27:03:11?

May 31, 2011

I just used EasyTAG 2.1.5 under Ubuntu 9.10 to update the tags on my music files running on Rhythmbox 0.12.5, and now Rhythmbox shows that the runtimes (Time) of dozens of my mp3's are now 27:03:11. That means Rhythmbox thinks all those songs are 27 hours, 3 minutes, and 11 seconds long, which they are not. Some are now shown as 54:06:23. So far they are all playing correctly, but the slider at the top of the Rhythmbox window barely moves, making it difficult, if not impossible, to jump to different points in the songs. Nothing else seems to have been affected.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox And Tuxguitar Can Play At The Same Time ?

Jul 3, 2011

I really like the two programs Tuxguitar, and Rhythmbox. Tux guitar is a tablature editor, and Rhythmbox is an audio management program/audio player.

Sometimes, when reading tabs, I need to find out if something just isn't right, so I check by playing that part in Rhythmbox to see if the tab is correct. I used to be able to do this a few months ago. Then I upgraded to 11.04, and there were lots of changes with packages and stuff.

To be more specific, Whenever Tuxguitar is running, I'll try to play something in Rhythmbox, and the there will be no audio, and the "time progressed through the track" doesn't change.

How to make it so that Rhythmbox and Tuxguitar can play at the same time.

Also, I remember that in the "Tools>Settings>Sound" options, I was using a "Realtime Sequencer" at a port which had "Gervill" in it. I don't have those options available for some reason, and I have no idea how to get it back.

Fedora :: When Open Rhythmbox It Shows The Mp3s As Duplicated

Dec 13, 2010

I synced my Music Folders on all my computers with rsync. Now when I open Rhythmbox it shows the mp3s as duplicated. So, every album will have two of track 1 and two of track 2 and so on except for the new records and files that were put into that computers Music Folder because they weren't there before.

So, obviously I am doing something wrong with the path of the files/folders because the rsync must be giving the same file different paths or tags or some such. I know from google searching that Rhythmbox will not display duplicates that are true duplicates.

So, short of simply deleting my music folder on every computer and then putting all of the songs back into it... is there anything I can do?

I should mention that the files/folders are not in reality duplicated. I checked both in the folders and also I opened a folder with VLC and it produced a list of tracks that was not duplicated. Its only Rhythmbox that shows them as duplicates.

I am talking about Rhythmbox on my Fedora 13 64 bit installation.

Ubuntu :: Gnome Clock Applet Shows Time One Second Behind?

Apr 17, 2011

I recently noticed that the time displayed in the Gnome Clock applet is exactly (or nearly so) one second behind NTP time.I have a NTP server on my small network to which I sync my other PCs. Some of the applications I run are critical of time and need sub second accuracy - I am also a bit of Time Nut as well.My NTP server is OK. My PCs can sync to my NTP server OK. My applications which require precise time get the right time from NTP - BUT - the time displayed in the GNOME Clock applet is always behind one second!I have spent much time searching for others with similar problems and their solutions but so far nothing - hence my asking here, why do I see this behaviour and what can I do about it

I've recently switched back to Ubuntu and I eventually had to sync my new ipod. I've been getting this problem where every time I sync with either GTKpod or Rhythmbox my ipod music is acting weird. It shows new music that I've added but when i choose to play it skips to the next track that then skips to the next track, and so forth. Its as if my ipod is filled with songs that don't even last 0.0 seconds! But the songs completely play in Rhythmbox, so I don't think its a problem with the files themselves.

OpenSUSE Install :: 11.2 Shows Black Screen While Booting Every 5th Time

Mar 15, 2010

I'm using OpenSUSE 11.2 64 bit. Sometimes boot fails and I get a black screen. It starts quite normal, but when it tries to start X and KDE, it fails and I only see a black screen. I can't switch to terminal and I can not reboot my computer by pressing "Ctrl + Alt + Del". It doesn't even shutdown by pressing the power-button. The only possibility is to switch off the computer. Then it normally starts.

The problem also occures with a clean installation of OpenSuse. And it cannot be solved by updating kernel, X-Server and KDE.

What files do you need? I'll post them.

The same computer worked fine with OpenSUSE 11.1. I think, the new radeon driver could be the problem, I have to use it because I can not use fglrx anymore as with 11.1

I take a look into my log-files, but I cannot see any error. Sometimes it seems, that /var/log/messages is partly overwritten by restarting the machine.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: MTP And RhythmBox Under 10.04

May 26, 2010

I own a Sony NWZ-E345 MP3 player that used to be seen by Rhythmbox when running 9.10 with no issues. After enabling the plugin for MTP within Rhythmbox the player was seen at connection. However, after updating to 10.04 my MP3 player is not seen at all, even though MTP support is enabled under plugins. As a matter of fact none of the media players I installed can see my player and they all support MTP. I tried some other players as a troubleshooting step. I have confirmed that libmtp8 is installed via the repository. Has anyone encountered this as well? I suspect this may be an easy reply for someone. BTW, this occurs with two different machines and nothing has changed with my MP3 player.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox Won't Quit?

Jul 21, 2010

If i close rhythmbox using the close tab on the window it closes to a daemon on the application bar. This is both fine and handy but i have a problem in that even when i left-click the daemon and hit 'quit', Rythmbox closes and then appears again a few seconds later. The same happens if i 'killall Rrhythmbox' in the terminal.I can also see, in conky, that Rhythmbox is running as a process when it re-opens and i can effectively 'show Rythmbox from the daemon - so its not just a daemon problem. Can someone either tell me how to permanently quit a running instance of Rhythmbox or tell me what setting i have enabled that keeps Rhtymbox opening?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox 0.13.1 - Can't Install ?

The first step is to, in terminal, run ./configure before attempting to MAKE/MAKE INSTALL (won't let me do it anyways)..I run .configure, and at the end, I get this error:

Code:

This is preventing me from moving on during the installation.

I have tried

Code:

And it cannot be found.I have search Synaptic for GTK+-2.0 (for starters) and nothing specific shows up..A LOT shows up, but I'm not sure if there is one specific item I should be downloading?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rhythmbox Keeps Deciding Can't Use It

May 6, 2011

I like Rhythmbox more than any other music player for the simple reason that it has "Genre, Artist, Album" browsing available and doesn't shove the concept of playlists in my face, when I don't care about playlists 99% of the time. So I want to keep using it.

But lately (some months ago) after trying an upgrade to 10.10, and switching back to 10.04 (unsolvable network issues), Rhythmbox has recognized that its database has been touched by a newer version, and refuses to start.

So I took the next natural step: ~$ find . -name '*rhythmbox*'. Which led me to find ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox, which I promptly moved to ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox.bak. Lo and behold, Rhythmbox decided to start on the next try. But then, after a new start, something mysterious (to me) happens, and Rhythmbox decides it can't start again. So now I'm up to something like ~/.gconf/rhythmbox.bak12 (my philosophy: why throw away any data when you are still at 10% drive usage?), and I'm hoping that there is a guru out there who can say something along the lines of, "oh yeah, just delete ~/.secretstuff/rhythmbox-please-behave-badly, and that'll take care of it".
