If i close rhythmbox using the close tab on the window it closes to a daemon on the application bar. This is both fine and handy but i have a problem in that even when i left-click the daemon and hit 'quit', Rythmbox closes and then appears again a few seconds later. The same happens if i 'killall Rrhythmbox' in the terminal.I can also see, in conky, that Rhythmbox is running as a process when it re-opens and i can effectively 'show Rythmbox from the daemon - so its not just a daemon problem. Can someone either tell me how to permanently quit a running instance of Rhythmbox or tell me what setting i have enabled that keeps Rhtymbox opening?
I switchted my windows friend over to kubuntu and I installed the kubuntu-restricted-extras as well as the ubuntu-restricted-extras and at first amarok was flawless. Now, every time I quit amarok and reopen it, my media library is still there but when I try and play anything it just stops and does nothing.
Then I go to my /.kde/share/apps/amarok directory and clear it and it works again if I open it and reimport the music, but this is a bitch to do every time. I briefly tried rhythmbox also and it seemed to be suffering from the same problem although I didn't try deleting the preferences and testing if it worked after, it also refused to work after quitting. Note: it might get corrupted on reboot only or on quitting
Whenever I plug my Zune in, Rhythmbox recognizes all the songs on it but when I doubleclick on a song to play it, the song doesn't play and Rhythmbox quits. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor. Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.
When I play games and want to quit the system freezes and can't exit at any way. Sometimes even freezes while playing. Tried Urban Terror, Enemy Territory. 0 A.D. freezed while playing, but i was running it from terminal and in window mode so Alt+tab helped me out.
I have Ati Radeon HD5650, 4 gb ram Turion P520 in laptop.
Here's exactly what the terminal has put out at 0. AD code...
I have winfast tv200 expert tv-tuner. I am using TvTime to watch tv through it. verything is working fine except that sound continues to come even after i quit tvtime. is there any solution for it?
I have an app I've developed in Qt 5.3.1 that has display problems when using 3D accerelation in VirtualBox using Debian Cinnamon. It seems to happen with Cinnamon in any Linux distro I've tried. Once I boot into Debian Cinnamon, how can I stop my Cinnamon session (I think I must start with Ctrl+Alt+F1) , then get a straight X session to run my app without Cinnamon, with 3Dacceleration in VirtualBox?
I am recent convert from Arch GNU/Linux after deciding that it's free software or bust. I'm enamored by your project (free software + large user base + stable releases supported for many years = precious, one-of-a-kind distro) and hope I can soon start contributing.
Anyway, I'm on Debian 8.4 with MATE, only main repo enabled, all packages up-to-date. I turn on ibus (via a keyboard shortcut that runs "ibus-daemon -dx") when I need to type in Portuguese or Esperanto. When I'm done, I quit ibus either by right-clicking its tray icon and choosing "quit" or by using a keyboard shortcut to "killall ibus-daemon". Unfortunately, regardless of how I quit ibus, iceweasel and icedove crash every time ibus quits.
I tried running ibus with "ibus-daemon -d" instead of the above command. Now there are no crashes when I quit ibus BUT iceweasel and icedove ignore ibus altogether (i.e., I cannot type special characters--keyboard input is as if ibus were off).
How to start and stop ibus in a way that both a) causes it to work in all applications including iceweasel and icedove AND b) iceweasel and icedove don't crash when ibus quits?
My Banshee Media Player just crashed, the window to force quit didn't appear, so I opened a terminal and typed "ps aux | grep banshee" to close it using the kill command. I got this output
Code:
As you can see in the 3082 line, the path says /usr/lib/banshee/Banshee.exe... I didn't knew I was backporting Wine to run banshee.
I own a Sony NWZ-E345 MP3 player that used to be seen by Rhythmbox when running 9.10 with no issues. After enabling the plugin for MTP within Rhythmbox the player was seen at connection. However, after updating to 10.04 my MP3 player is not seen at all, even though MTP support is enabled under plugins. As a matter of fact none of the media players I installed can see my player and they all support MTP. I tried some other players as a troubleshooting step. I have confirmed that libmtp8 is installed via the repository. Has anyone encountered this as well? I suspect this may be an easy reply for someone. BTW, this occurs with two different machines and nothing has changed with my MP3 player.
So I have force quit and the little window is stuck. reads "click on a window to force the application to quit. To cancel press <ESC>" How the heck do I get rid of it? I tried xkill, it does not work.
I was looking around for a way to control rhythmbox playback on a remote computer with ssh (or telnet) and found a few archived posts asking about this without a working answer. After a little searching I found a way to do this on commandelineful.
I have just installed Rhythmbox via Synaptic..All is fine, however, I noticed that it's showing release version 0.12.8. After checking out [url] I noticed there is a newer stable version available. I have downloaded the tar.gz file, and followed the instructions in the INSTALL file.
The first step is to, in terminal, run ./configure before attempting to MAKE/MAKE INSTALL (won't let me do it anyways)..I run .configure, and at the end, I get this error:
Code:
This is preventing me from moving on during the installation.
I have tried
Code:
And it cannot be found.I have search Synaptic for GTK+-2.0 (for starters) and nothing specific shows up..A LOT shows up, but I'm not sure if there is one specific item I should be downloading?
I upgraded to 10.4 (64bit) Ubuntu and since then have been unable to rip CD's using the procedure in the Official DocumentationUbuntu Documentation > Ubuntu 10.04 > Music, Video and Photos > Music > Extract from a CD.But when a CD is placed in the drive Rhythmbox would not run.Typing rhythmbox in a terminal (with a CD) in the drive shows the message segmentation fault.
I found in the documentation that sound-juicer was used in the ripping process and as this was not installed - so I installed this.I can now rip a CD using sound-juicer and can run rhythmbox when there is no cd in the computer but I am a little puzzled as to what is happening.
I would very much like to add FEAR.FM [URL]to the Rhythmbox radio-player. I cannot find a direct link on the website and tried some others but none of them worked.
Just did a new install of 10.04, can't get Rhythmbox to login into Last FM, keeps saying my user name and password are wrong. They are not. How do I get it to connect with Last FM, I have a new acct and password and just paid $3.00 for a months subcription. Had no problem with Ubuntu 9.04
I enjoy the features of rhythmbox, but whenever I load rhythmbox it eats up my HDD for about 7 minutes. Is there anyway to make it stop? I have 130gb of music and have already unselected the "monitor folders" box.
I like Rhythmbox more than any other music player for the simple reason that it has "Genre, Artist, Album" browsing available and doesn't shove the concept of playlists in my face, when I don't care about playlists 99% of the time. So I want to keep using it.
But lately (some months ago) after trying an upgrade to 10.10, and switching back to 10.04 (unsolvable network issues), Rhythmbox has recognized that its database has been touched by a newer version, and refuses to start.
So I took the next natural step: ~$ find . -name '*rhythmbox*'. Which led me to find ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox, which I promptly moved to ~/.gconf/apps/rhythmbox.bak. Lo and behold, Rhythmbox decided to start on the next try. But then, after a new start, something mysterious (to me) happens, and Rhythmbox decides it can't start again. So now I'm up to something like ~/.gconf/rhythmbox.bak12 (my philosophy: why throw away any data when you are still at 10% drive usage?), and I'm hoping that there is a guru out there who can say something along the lines of, "oh yeah, just delete ~/.secretstuff/rhythmbox-please-behave-badly, and that'll take care of it".
I have a lot of CDs and I've been uploading them onto the computer via RhythmBox to be played on RhythmBox. At first, it would get all the song titles and the artist name and the album name and all that stuff. I stopped uploading music for a week or two and started again, but now it's stopped doing getting the info, and I have to enter everything manually, and I've been doing that, but it takes a while.
What's the problem and how to I fix it? It seems it might've been related to Musicbrainz, which apparently gets album data. Did that site stop working, or did I have some free trial which ran out?Did I just happen to upload CDs with the data built in at first, and now am uploading Cs that don't have that? Not even sure it works like that.
I am trying to organize some music I just copied off cd to my hard drive. the tracks are not listed (there is no track listing or album title etc) so I go to music-properties and try to fill the stuff in. I can't type into the boxes.
I was using Rhythmbox successfully yesterday. This morning the automatic updates said I should install some new packages, one of which was, I think, rhythmbox. Now it tells me that "The autoaudiosink element is missing" whenever I try to play something. What do I need to do in order for rhythmbox to work again?Other audio programs, e.g. Audacity, work fine.
How does a person determine the URL of the audio stream for a Live365 broadcast in order to create a new radio station entry in Rhythmbox? I would like to be able to access and listen to the audio stream completely from within Rhythmbox.
I am using Rythmbox for Ubuntu 9.10. I want to alter the tag info for certain songs because it is incorrect. but when I open the properties window to do so, it won't let me type in the field......I can highlight the text, but not change it
Rhythmbox went missing. How long ago I'm not sure as I don't use often. When starting I get them error:
Code: $ rhythmbox
rhythmbox: error while loading shared libraries: libtotem-plparser.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I uninstalled and reinstalled Rhythmbox, but that didn't help.
I've recently installed 10.04 and everything is fine except Rhythmbox. It merely won't add to media library any music file on smb shares I'm using Ubuntu almost all the time and deadly won't to be able to listen to my music on the server
A severe problem with Rhythmbox. You cannot burn playlist. I've looked at bug reports and they just give you the run around. Nothing in the forums except to go to something else. That is no solution to the problem. I can't believe this problem is being ignored. Nothing comes up on search.how these applications got so screwed up from one version to the other and what the cure is?
I have Rhythmbox installed in 10.04 on a fresh install with all current updates. I have the FLAC and FAAD libs installed and gstreamer-plugins-ugly, plus the default set of plugins that come with Rhythmbox in 10.04. All my music is stored on a self-built NAS running FreeNAS and serving files over SMB. This NAS has been in use for more than 4 years and has worked flawlessly with all my Windows machines using Winamp as a music player frontend. I can mount the SMB chare in 10.04 and I have no trouble browsing my music files/folders on the NAS.
However, if I try to import the music stored on the NAS using Music > Import Folder... nothing happens in RB. Even dragging and dropping individual music files from a nautilus browser window does not work (nothing happens). Most of the files are FLAC with some MP3's. All music is organized as artistalbum racks. My music collection is a bit more than 16k songs (about 95% are ripped from my own CD's). All tracks are properly tagged. There are no error messages, just nothing happens when dragging tracks into the library or using the Import Folder menu item.
I'm trying to sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.2) through Rhythmbox on my newly installed Lucid Lynx. While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.
